McLaren lied. The 765LT runs 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile, is RWD, and weighs more than 1,300kg. Those stats are enough to tell you the car is making a lot more power than advertised. McLaren claims the Senna is more powerful than the 765LT, but in reality it’s the other way around.
@@jozhfy On a track yes. But increasing the distance in a straight line only makes the gap bigger. You do realise the Senna makes a lot more downforce? It’s slower than the 720S past 174mph (280km/h).
Awesome video! Let me explain why this is the result: McLaren tells you that the 765LT is less powerful than the Senna. But that is a lie. The Senna and P1 are not as understated as the 720S and 765LT. All four of these cars have gone on the dyno, on different occasions. Ford told DragTimes that an 11% loss is generally the ballpark for drivetrain losses with these mid-engine RWD cars. With that in mind, I’ll post the wheel horsepower (whp) and divide it by 89% to account for the 11% lost through the drivetrain, which will then bring us to the crank horsepower. Crank horsepower is what manufacturers claim. But here it is: 720S = 700whp / 0.89 = 786bhp Senna = 725whp / 0.89 = 814bhp 765LT = 770whp / 0.89 = 865bhp P1 = 817whp / 0.89 = 917bhp This shows that the Senna and 720S are more evenly matched in terms of power, whilst the 765LT is making 918 Spyder levels of horsepower, whilst being so much lighter. The 720S and Senna make close to the 800bhp barrier, whilst the 765LT is closer to the 900bhp club, hence why the 765LT hangs even with the P1 in a straight line rolling race. I also believe the 765LT could weigh similar to the Senna, if not a little lighter. And having less downforce and more power makes a straight line race between the Senna and 765LT pretty conclusive. The race to make would be the 720S vs Senna. I don’t know why till this day there isn’t a fair race between the two online.
@@Shadowboost Senna is probably not as much lighter as you think it is, hence why I said the 765LT could weigh similar if not a little lighter. You’ve got to remember that the claimed weight of the Senna is only 85kg more than the 720S. McLaren claims the curb weight of the Senna to be 1,309kg. Interestingly, Autocar said in their review of the Senna that “their test car weighed 1,345kg fully fuelled, where a 720S weighed a like for like 1,420kg”. The 765LT is said to be 80kg lighter, which would put it at 1,340kg. McLaren claims 1,339kg. I’ve tried to look for an Autocar figure, as a fair comparison to the other two cars but can’t find anything so far. But what my point is, even without the drag or longer gearing, there is no significant weight difference that allows the Senna to have an answer for the fact that in actuality, it is simply underpowered in comparison to the 765LT.
