1:22 That sounds like race science. Black people and white people are biologically the same. So the differences are due to hair care.

    • @GreenBeauty
      @GreenBeauty  3 года назад +200

No, black people and white people are not biologically the same. Depending on what region of the world your ancestors are from ... your biological make-up differs. For the most part, we metabolize food differently. The structural and chemical makeup of our hair and skin has differences. I could go on and on. And guess what, its okay that we are different. If we were all the same that would be boaring. It’s time we start embrace and appreciating our differences rather than acting like they don’t exist.

@@GreenBeauty How do black people metabolize food diferently to white people and do you have academic evidence of this?

    • @GreenBeauty

@@liawatson5789 You really should take some time to self reflect on why it bothers you so much that people have REAL differences base on RACE. White supremacy is a system that was bread from a deep inferiority complex. It keeps whites from seeing others as separate UNIQUE full functioning humans. If you were thinking clearly, our physiological, biological and psychological differences won't bother you at all. You will definitely notice them OBJECTIVELY as opposed to SELFISHLY ignoring and denying them. Have you ever heard of "Asian Flush" or "Lactose Intolerance" among Africans/Black People?
I don't mean to be hard on you but, your ignorance is a choice that comes from privilege. 80% of the world's population is non-white AND CLIMBING. It's 2021, time to wake up.

I got a shiny face too! Maybe that's why they say "black don't crack". I recently found out I have relatively oily scalp too via my water wash challenge. Green beauty's regimen has been working beautifully for me this month. I started over again 2 weeks ago and have 50% coverage and my low porosity hair is sooo moisturized and hydrated without using products or oils aside from the natural dye-free, silicone-free rinse out conditioners I'm using on my ends after my water rinsing. I've basically been relying on my rose water or aloe water and sebum. Sebum is the perfect twisting product because it gives shine, hold and reduces shrinkage.

Man, I produce a LOT of sebum but my hair is super dry. I didn't know I produced a lot until recently. I just assumed my scalp was dry because I was always told blacks have dry scalp and need to grease it and since my hair is dry.... I used to still have build up at the roots after washing twice and when I scratched got the white/grey waxy stuff under the nails ALL the time. I thought it was product build up but even when I would just use light oil only as a leave in it was still there.
All of these years I was using moisturizing shampoos and putting deep conditioner on my roots. Now I know I can't do it. I pretty much don't use any white colored shampoos now and avoid my scalp when applying conditioner. I don't see the build up at my roots anymore and when I scratch no white buildup under the nails. I also let my shampoo sit for 2-3 minutes before washing so it can break the excess sebum down properly. I was definitely not using the right products and techniques for a very high sebum producing scalp.
BTW, you look FLY in the thumbnail pic!!

Hi! I am now in my 6th year of not using shampoo in my scalp. My hair is fuller and healthier than when I used shampoos and I will never go back to using shampoo. I'm really glad I found your video and that finally someone else knows that sebum is the natural conditioner. That said, my scalp produces masses amounts of sebum and 3 days after my ACV rinse my long hair is so darn greasy it's disturbing to me. So when I watched your highly educational video and it came to minute 5:00 it made sense. Of course, there's gotta be an imbalance in my hormones. So I am in the process of giving my body a chance to get back to a natural state. No shampoo, no sugars, no carbs (anti-migraine treatments), more fitness for my whole body with rowing indoors and that should help greatly and maybe my hormones will calm down. We'll see! Thank you for making this video, the hormonal imbalance is another key puzzle in my search for a healthy body. Have a really good day! Anna

I noticed when I used to use leave-ins and oils though, my scalp would start to smell "off" after several days to a week, signally time to wash. I think products were throwing off my scalp ph. Since I water rinse, massage and stritch my scalp 3-4 times per week and don't add leave-in products besides aloe water or rose water post rinse, when I scoop and spread I don't get that off smell, and my slight dandruff issue has cleared.

Shakeva Harris Your sebum is. It supposed to have a scent unless the pH of your scalp and/or the pH in your body (most likely from sad gut) is off. The scent or lack of scent of your sebum has a direct correlation with the state of your body. Try doing a juice cleanse or any other fast for 4 to 6 days. After that, switch over to a cleaner Not Processed diet.

My scalp Damn near produces zero sebum. My scalp gets so dry I can't just oil it, I have to spray it with aloe Vera or acv/water mix, let it dry a bit then oil it. I have to moisturize & oil (small amounts) my scalp & hair every day. And scalp massage no more than every 2 days or I get dry flakes & a tight scalp. So annoying. You heavy sebum gals are so lucky.

Yeah I initially thought I had a dry scalp because I’d constantly hear other naturals talk about dry scalp and the need to oil the scalp. Even when I was a girl my mom would oil my scalp and it only lead to flakes. I now know my scalp has a high sebum production I can’t make it past 5-7 days without washing my scalp. By day 5 my scalp starts to itch and it’s ready to be washed. I notice it more when my hair is blown out for the week because I have better acres to my scalp.

The video just focused on people with lots of sebum. What about people who don't have a lot or any? You said to watch out for certain ingredients e.g. petrolatum. That's in hair grease. When I cut out hair grease, my scalp feels dry and flakes. I have no sebum production. If I don't put something on my scalp, it dries out and can hurt. Oils and butters did nothing for me, so what options are there, please?

    • @christinabrown8479

Heavenseventeen grease emulates our waxy sebum. But the grease might be clogging your pores at this point, preventing sebum from coming out. You might need to clarify you scalp and start to moisturize it with greenhouse effect or daily water washing until your sebum comes in. It needs a moist environment so if your scalp is dry it’s gonna look as if you can’t produce sebum. But your SCALP needs moisture, not oils or butter, it needs water or steam/vapor or humidity to jumpstart sebum production. Hope this helps

@@christinabrown8479 Thanks for the support and advice.
The grease definitely isn't clogging my pores, though. Grease molecules are too big to get inside our pores. For years, I used no grease and my scalp was still a dry mess.
I tried daily water washing for a week and my hair was a crunchy mess. No sebum came in. I heard it can take weeks for some people, but I was scared my hair would break off in that time. And my hair can take a day to air dry/two hours to blow dry, so daily washing doesn't work.
I'll try weekly washing and see if that's enough water for my scalp. Thanks!

Their scalp is in shock and over producing). If you don't wet your scalp at all your scalp won't produce sebum believing it not necessary as nothing's being cleansed. Atleast rinse your hair weekly. How am I to best navigate this toss up between thin hair and trying to stimulate sebum on my scalp as its dry and doesn't really produce any. Thank you 🥰
