Idk if low porosity fine strands exist. By default, the cuticle layers are thinner or there's a less average amount than thicker hair strands. Fine hair strands tend to be higher in porosity.

And i love how she has realized that touching your hair all the time for these videos will actually be detrimental in the long run. As I have been saying that I notice with these other Tubers. When YOU are the guinea pig for products and styles you have to keep manipulating your hair a lot to make multiple videos each week. Its good to start incorporating other things in your videos so you can leave your hair alone so i am very happy she has done this.
I parked all my products that contained protien... shampoo, conditioner, leave in, deep conditioner, all of it in a bag. Bought a clarifying shampoo and I use the As I Am caster oil line which is protien free. MY hair is feeling like her ole self again. I'm so Happy we're back on a length retention journey again. And my hair looks and feels luscious 😊
Thanks for sharing the As I Am info. I’m about to go home and throw out the protein heavy products. I used to use the original As I Am and the Cantù but the changed the formula and added coconut oil too which my hair hates also.
The AIA JCBO co wash is nice too, I've never used a co wash before on my hair and I like how it cleanses but leaves my hair soft...And the JCBO Water spray is great for moisture, it's not greasy, doesn't weigh my hair down, but it moisturises really well. I'm gonna stick with this line.
I so badly wanted to jump on the bandwagon of using rice water for hair growth but I immediately felt that my hair had a stiff, dry feeling after the rice water rinse. ACV rinses also dried my hair out alot.
I absolutely loved this. It was plain and simple and exactly what I was searching for. I had a deep protein treatment at a salon a few months back but my hair is super low porosity and I couldn’t figure out why all of the sudden, my hair was just breaking off. I mean a lot of breakage, all day everyday and it’s still happening. I said let me do a deep search on here to see if I can save my hair without doing a big chop…and VIOLA! I found you! I didn’t realize that there was this much protein in all the products I use. I really had no clue. I thought protein would clearly just say protein. But no, I was wrong. So now I’m going to do a clarifying shampoo and a herbal hot oil treatment and take it from there. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge! ❤
GB, have you seen any improvement living in a tropical climate? I went to Costa Rica for 2 weeks and my hair was AMAZING! Never dry and I even used harsh hotel shampoo and my hair was just fine, even better than now using moisturizing shampoos. Things to note: We were trekking high up in the mountains so most times I was washing with natural untreated spring water and the humidity up in the mountains was higher.
Thanks for this video. I was so concerned that after using a protein treatment I had developed overload. I used a clarifying shampoo like the very next day I don’t believe damage is done it’s been about two weeks now and my hair is soft and honestly it seems better.
OMG ive never seen a video with this quality ! its so well explained and we apprecciate the time that you invested on editing this video i really understood really well !
I know you like asian, indian ayurvedic powders, rice water and i do too. But what are your thoughts on African herbs like Chebe, Ambunu and other african plants with mucilage like Okra and Nkui. I have personally only used Ambunu recently for detangling and i was seriously amazed. It's like it was formulated by scientists for my 4c hair but it's just an herb. I know these herbs and plants aren't as mainstream as Asian powders but they might help people with type 4 hair. I'l try Okra and Nkui next 🥰.
👠👸🏽I noticed (wash & rice rinse, leave in conditioning every two weeks) my hair began to strip away the beginning of February until recent. I’ve STOPPED rice rinsing. I have low porosity hair so I usually keep my hair in (4) cornrows unless I’m going outside. I hope 🙏🏾this helps. Any more suggestions? Thank You in advance❤️🙏🏾
I'm low porosity, fine hair. I'd been quite ill for a couple of months and did not wash my hair (protective style.) When I felt better, I decided to use a protein treatment from the store. BAD IDEA. My hair was worse than when I'd tried a rice water rinse a few years back. Also, I read the ingredients on a shampoo and conditioner set I'd bought a few months ago. They both had wheat protein, but the deep conditioner from the same company did not have any protein in it. I will only purchase your protein in the future, and only use it once a month. Thanks GB. Love your videos.
Omg! This is literally what’s wrong with my hair it is very hard and it feels dry. No matter how many times I moisturize it I feel like it never stays moist for more than five minutes all of my shampoo and I just checked and my leave in conditioners have protein in it. plus I was using your protein treatment every once in a while when I would wash my hair. What is a good clarifying shampoo to use?
I have high porosity hair and tried rice water. But my hair did not respond well at all! But when I use a leave in or deep conditioner that I bought that has rice water in it, my hair gel fine. I think because it was diluted and had other things with it my hair was able to handle it better. Lately I’ve been using aphogee provitamin leave in as a spray to dampen the hair before I put on a leave in or moisturizer. So far it works for me. I used to only use protein in my deep conditioner but I’ve switched it. Now my deep conditioners are more moisture focused (with a little protein), and leave in has more protein. I just feel like my hair needs the protein throughout the week more than just on wash day. It’s just something I’m trying but, so far so good.
I concur!! I too feel like protein should NOT be in everything. Its like your in science class every time you grab a new product (if your low porosity). I think everything should be moisturizing unless its clearly noted on the label and or the ingredients list that the product contains any form of protein large or small. Or if it does contain a protein or strength it should state in the direction how often u can use it pertaining to your porosity
What are common protein ingredients to look out for? Sometimes it's hard to tell how much protein is in it. Also while I'm washing my hair the hair near my roots tangles so much it's almost like mats. Soon as I condition it loosens up and can be brushed but I wonder why it's been doing that recently and how many times / how much moisture I would have to incorporate in order for it to stop doing that
Much looser texture here. I clarify weekly (weekly wash), but I have the scalp to match, a case of severe dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis). I have experienced that when I use harsher shampoos, it keeps my SD at bay more often than not. If I have flare-ups, don't get me wrong, I then *need* to use my medicated shampoo (Nizoral 2%). Loved the video. Protein (keratin) is in so many products nowadays, but thankfully, usually it says so straight up in front of the bottle... usually!
@@GreenBeauty I appreciate it, and thank you so much for trying to help, but I have gone through all of it, natural, medicated, and I have to say, for me, the only "cure" is the medicated (Nizoral / ketaconazole 2%) shampoo. No other shampoo works on me, nothing else works on me, but that does, so I think I'll stick to that. :) If there is anything natural that does work it is something with a large concentration of aloe vera. I used to have a shampoo that started with AV, before the water content, and that was amazing, but they changed the formula on it (can't even remember the brand, long time ago), and now it has water as its first ingredient and it no longer works.
I love your products 💕 I just did the protein treatment and my hair has so much shine and my curls are popping 💕 I did prepoo with the herbal hot oil treatment and I used the pH spritz for my leave in...thank you so much. I will be ordering more when I get close to running out 💕
OMG, I have been waiting on this. Is there a list a products for those of us that are protein sensitive. I can always tell when hair products are high in protein. My scalp burns and itches and my hair is crunchy and dry. Additional manufactures change the ingredients and the customs are unaware.
A lot of products have protein in them so, that list would be incredibly long. But, I listed some protein ingredients to look out for in product ingredients list
Hi, I'm a guy and I like your videos. I just wanted to know if you already have made a video about what each products (shampoo, conditioner, deep-conditionner, moisturizer) are supposed to do to my hair, because I don't really know. Which mean I don't know what product I should change
That’s a great question. I can see how it can get confusing. Basically: Shampoos - clean your hair and scalp Conditioner - Shampoo recovery (adjust your hairs pH, adds a thin layer of product to your hair strands) Deep Conditioner - more potent conditioner with penetrating ingredients in it Moisturizer - moisture is water but, water and oil helps the water stay on you hair longer. I have some videos on these topics. If you are on your desktop. You can go to the GreenBeauty page > select the Videos Tab > select search > and type in key works to find video on topics you are interested in.
Dang it I saw this video on protein too late!!😢😢😢😢 I destroyed my hair. Omg. Stupid me was doing rice water treatments and I had conditioner with protein in it. My hair all broke off. But it’s ok. Im gonna get back on track. ❤
Oh wow that’s awful. I hope the set back wasn’t too intense. Set backs will happen, what’s important is that you learned something new about your hair and that you’re positive about getting back on track. 💚💚
Yea I get little bits coming out as well, I'm thinking it's cos my hair gets knotted and dry quickly. But I did use a protein deep conditioner a few months ago, not sure if I was fully happy with the results
My hair has been breaking like crazy and I couldn’t figure bout why. Something told me to look up protein overload. While watching this vid I checked the “new shampoo and conditioner “ I have been using for a year and low and behold protein, plus the deep cons and the leave in 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.
the protein treatment on ends is super smart!!! i have low porosity hair and have been avoiding protein forever and i noticed my tips strands feel bumpy and uneven, thank u so much for being so informative!!!
Hello. Thank you for always posting such informative videos. I tried a coconut oil hot oil treatment but it maid my hair become dry and strawlike. What should I do???
I have *low porosity protein-sensitive* hair and *I LOVE The Real Protein Treatment* it’s the only kind of treatment that agrees with me. I started to wear my hair in a silk press since December and my hair is thriving in this stretched state but in order to achieve the perfect silk press it has required my using silk protein straightening products (Biosilk) to both protect and prevent reversion. I do wonder if I might have some protein overload as all the product do contain protein and I am experiencing a little bit of breakage and with dullness of strands. I tried omitting TRPT but my hair didn’t feel good without it. Any suggestions?
Your situation is tricky b/c its going to be hard for you to gauge if you’re experienced protein overload while you are trying to maintain a silk press. Since your breakage is minimal, continue to observe your hair and be general with it. When your hair returns to its natural state you’ll get a better idea of how it’s doing
This was great!! I believe I’m Medium to high porosity. When I clarify, should I do a real protein treatment then? Or separate non-clarify wash day? Love love this video.
I absolutely love your content, I’ve been watching you for years. You’re the only natural hair channel I still watch since I started my journey. I love the amount of research you put into your content, just know that’s it’s seen and it’s valued. Quick question 🙋♀️ Have you looked into the olaplex system? I’ve been considering using it but I haven’t seen a comprehensive video of how and why it works.
I like your channel because of the authentic organic methods. However, can you share some good products on the market that you would recommend and how to use thenm.
I don't really understand... My hair is low porosity, dry , have breakege , many hairs have no elasticity... And I don't use protein products, is it protein sensitive or needs protein?😢 Because it grows weak and I know my hair is curly and thick and this not his nature...😢!
Do you have advice on hydral fatigue? I feel protein overload is talked about a lot but I’m struggling to find videos of how to manage moisture overload since I am low porosity and don’t know how to properly balance protein/moisture
My hair is high porosity. When I used rice water I had the worst protein overload and the worst breakage. I just had to let go of the rice water treatment
If you just use water soluble protein is all this protein overload avoidable? It seems as though the hair strands can't handle the load (weigh and build up) of insoluble protein on the hair strands?
Can you talk about the use of combs on natural hair. Is it beneficial or not. I’ve seen so many natural RUclipsrs say they retain length more without using combs. Do you mostly use combs
Can You help list some protein free shampoos and conditioners I use as I am now peppermint dandruff now on daughter’s hair… I’m so desperate to avoid protein filled products
I plan to visit a trinchologist this year. I hope to achieve a better understanding of my overall hair care. The views expressed is in video should include a disclaimer as well.
It depends on how much protein the product has. If the protein is within the first 4-5 ingredients in the ingredients list, you may want to limit how often you use it. If you suspect that you have protein overload, use clarify shampoo to help remove the buildup so it doesn’t keep your hair from receiving moisture
. I protective style my hair however the cardio sweats on my scalp and goes to my hair and sometimes ends. I usually blow dry of hooded dryer then moisturize and seal however I’ve noticed I am getting more incomplete split ends and ssk on my wash days. Could you please give advice on what I could do after workouts to help with my wet/damn hair. Or if someone has any remedies/suggestions you’re responses will be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!
Hello. I wanted to know is aloe Vera a protein or has protein in it. In the hair community there is this debate that it does have or it doesn't have protein. Can you clarify this please. Thank you.
I have a question, out of curiosity. I've been doing my own research, but I haven't found much on the topic. For whatever reason, I've always had a sensitive scalp, but now I'm noticing that the area that is more sensitive has thinner looking hair, it does not match a bald pattern (even though my dermatologist, says it does). Has anyone gone through scalp sensitivity and hair thinning? I want to see if there's anything I can do to restore the thickness of my hair, I miss my beautiful afro. The thing about this scalp sensitivity, is that the days that I have it, I cannot even touch my hair.
So I had a drastic change in my scalps sensitivity after being pregnant. Cannot tolerate Anything besides twist outs etc. don’t know what really causes it but I only notice it when I go a really long time without doing anytype of style that involves tension like ponytails , braids etc.
@@diamondpurdie8871 thanks, yeah. I visit another dermatologist, but he immediately wanted to sell me a hair growing treatment done by injections for life. My gut is telling me it's not baldness, the sensitivity has to be something else. For real, i can't even touch my head sometimes. The best way to describe the sensation, it's like the area around the hair follicles is inflamed
@@briydandridge hormonal changes maybe. In my case I got a test done and I have low vitamin D levels, after reading about it on the Internet I found that hair thinning can be caused by VD deficiency

QUESTION: I am protein sensitive, low porosity. Is there a way to test how much protein is in my diy flaxseed gel leave in? I want to use my flaxseed gel leavein daily but not sure if my hair can handle the protein that’s in the flaxseed gel.
Hi! I know its been a year but i saw your comment and have to say that flaxseed has protein in it, but the molecule of the protein is too big so it doesn’t really affect your hair! Ive been using flaxseed gel every wash day for my highly protein sensitive curly hair, as a curl gel and its all good.

Can aloe vera also cause protein overload?
so glad your posting again frequently. I learn so much from you . And love your calming voice!
@@GreenBeauty thank you ☺️ your videos are sooo helpful 👌🏾
thank i try to understand
Hi !! I can’t tell if my hair has a balance of moisture or protein. I see my hair breaks in the shower a lot
ITS ALWAYS SUCH A PLEASURE TO WATCH YOUR VIDEOS!! GOD BLESS YOU! :)
So sad i can not get anymore of the real protein treatment down here in Namibia 🇳🇦....my hair loved it so much😭😭😭
I got protein overload I didn’t know it was bad to use avocado hair masks frequently I just saw it was growing my hair and kept doing it😩
5:50 !!! In tearsss
Hi, do I use a clarifying shampoo, followed by a moisturizing shampoo and then the hot oil treatment?
any videos on hygral fatigue?
Thank you so much. I can’t get enough of your videos. Well learn about protein with you really changed my hair regimen. Xoxo
Thank you for watching ❤
You are so cool! Thank you for repping for realistic natural hair! It helps us stay chill and self-accepting.❤️🤸🏾
Which clarifying shampoo do you use
I don't really understand...
My hair is low porosity, dry , have breakege , many hairs have no elasticity... And I don't use protein products, is it protein sensitive or needs protein?😢 Because it grows weak and I know my hair is curly and thick and this not his nature...😢!
Do you have advice on hydral fatigue? I feel protein overload is talked about a lot but I’m struggling to find videos of how to manage moisture overload since I am low porosity and don’t know how to properly balance protein/moisture
Hi. Where do you normally source the hydrolyzed wheat protein
You are just simply THE BEST!!!
Thank you!!
Thank you this is very helpful! Just realized my hair is protein sensitive.
What are great ways I can put proteins in my hair?
My hair is high porosity. When I used rice water I had the worst protein overload and the worst breakage. I just had to let go of the rice water treatment
You are not alone. May people have experienced the same thing with rice water.
Thats why i wash my every two weeks Havent had a problem with protein overload
If you just use water soluble protein is all this protein overload avoidable? It seems as though the hair strands can't handle the load (weigh and build up) of insoluble protein on the hair strands?
Thanks for sharing
Can you talk about the use of combs on natural hair. Is it beneficial or not. I’ve seen so many natural RUclipsrs say they retain length more without using combs. Do you mostly use combs
Must've thought I saw another vid with the intro!!
Can
You help list some protein free shampoos and conditioners I use as I am now peppermint dandruff now on daughter’s hair… I’m so desperate to avoid protein filled products
Very informative and helpful
I plan to visit a trinchologist this year. I hope to achieve a better understanding of my overall hair care. The views expressed is in video should include a disclaimer as well.
Ton contenu est vraiment utile merci
GB - when you moisturize, as you share at the beginning of the video, do you take your twist to moisturize or leave them in?
Hello Green beauty,I live at Nigeria.pls where will I get your hair products?
Excellent presentation. Thanks!
Totally off-topic, but do you do skincare videos as well, because your skin is popping.
I want some of your products ( greenbeauty protein treatment and herbal hot oil treatment) to buy
I'm in Ghana, please do you have any agent in Ghana
Unfortunately, not yet. We’re working on it
I love the work you do and what you share!
Your videos has given me so much! You are simply the best!!! Love ❤️🙏🏽🌸🔆🔆
Thank you 🙏🏾
God bless you. Please where can l get amla powder to buy.l live in Nigeria-Lagos..Thank you.
Hi. is fenugreek too much for low porosity hair?
So if I use the long and luxe shampoo every two weeks will I get protein overload? If I do how I do cooperate the clarifying shampoo into the routine?
It depends on how much protein the product has. If the protein is within the first 4-5 ingredients in the ingredients list, you may want to limit how often you use it. If you suspect that you have protein overload, use clarify shampoo to help remove the buildup so it doesn’t keep your hair from receiving moisture
Thank you.
Great 😊. Another video. I've been waiting.
Hello. I wanted to know is aloe Vera a protein or has protein in it. In the hair community there is this debate that it does have or it doesn't have protein. Can you clarify this please. Thank you.
Thanks so much for sharing this important information!
Thank you for watching.
Thank You!
You should probably get a second opinion I have felt this way before and the best thing is to let it rest after seeing a qualified dermatologist
@@gregap8282 sounds like a good idea to see a different one the one I have prescribed me clindamyacin and said it could be an onset of alopecia aerata (that comes from mostly stress )
Yes, a new video 🤩 I was looking for an interesting video to watch
QUESTION: I am protein sensitive, low porosity. Is there a way to test how much protein is in my diy flaxseed gel leave in? I want to use my flaxseed gel leavein daily but not sure if my hair can handle the protein that’s in the flaxseed gel.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to measure or test how much protein is in your DIY
Hi! I know its been a year but i saw your comment and have to say that flaxseed has protein in it, but the molecule of the protein is too big so it doesn’t really affect your hair! Ive been using flaxseed gel every wash day for my highly protein sensitive curly hair, as a curl gel and its all good.
THANK YOUUU! YOU CAME AT SUCH A PERFECT TIMMMMMMME
Thanks again for a great and informative video.
