Aurora started playing music when she was 6 years old. When she was 9, she wrote her own lyrics. She did this in secret until she was 14 years old. Then only her parents noticed. Without her knowledge, a song of her was published on the internet (from a school performance) and the industry approached her. She never wanted that for herself. Her mother told her to share her music with the world. And there it is now. She sings what she lives. She is highly intelligent and natural. Absolutely close to nature and down to earth to this day. Her music is mainly about the minorities in our society, the protection of nature. She is an extremely life-loving person and extremely close to her fans. It is what you would want from anyone who has a voice today. She is a little different, and so are her fans. She calls them warrior and wierdos. How she is herself. When she sings, her whole body sings along. All her songs, really all are outsanding good. Live concerts are amazing. A must see.
Aurora is a gem. You really need to react to her original music, her live performances are impressive. KEXP live consert or Nidarosdomen concert.

When I first found out about her, I was already enjoying her 1st album songs, then I searched for live stuff and was blown away, between her originals and covers. I had the same reaction after watching her covers of Teardrop and Life on Mars. I think she's one of the most talented artists out there right now.

To really understand aurora you have to look at her childhood,picture the lakes and forests of Norway as her playground and you can see how nature(Mother Earth) is so important to her and then add in the fact that as a child growing up her family never had a TV or radio,only an record player where she listened to Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohan both great wordsmiths in the art of music,it's then you can start to understand what makes this girl become the amazing artist she is today,and to think at the age of 6 she found an old Brocken piano and taught herself to play without being able to read music is astonishing,to then at the age of 9 write a song called Lucky which you must listen to its a masterpiece and by the age of 16 have enough songs for her first album.(all my demons greeting as a friend )WOW! She is so special,for me she is a GENIUS .As a lover of music all of my life, like most of you we all have at times enjoyed certain artists,the reasons for this can be many fold,but I can honestly say that at this moment in my journey no one has touched my emotions or moved me like this young artist from Norway and there is a reason for her to have a huge fan base all over the world. She is such a great songwriter, singer and performer - for me there is a unique quality to her voice and the way she expresses her feelings in every word she sings is a quality that not many singers have She is not mainstream as she has created her own genre, and therefore she is not topping any charts. But that is not what aurora is about she has never craved for that she is a child of the earth and so grounded in what she believes in .So for me a musical journey with Aurora is a journey with meaningful lyrics and comforting vocals that makes you ask yourself questions and think more deeply about the kind of world we want to live in,for someone so young to write and produce songs plus produce all her own videos is outstanding.yes Aurora is a Genius.
And this is our QUEEN. I agree 1000%precent. When she sings she open up our souls. She always make song with a big heart, and be so glad that you love it. You must listen to her music live. She is the three E. Emotions, empathy and expressions it is crazy. I been in her realm for skx years and i am still in love in her music. Listen to her LUCKY in nidarosdomen. It have a atmosphere in that performance which is so huntingly beautiful and she write it between 9-11 years old.
It sounds like I found AURORA in the same way as the guy on the right; covers of Teardrop and Life on Mars, then all her original songs. I'm so glad I randomly stumbled across her work during lockdown, it has really made a difference to my own feelings during these difficult times.
I would recommend listening to her original material. But you maybe interested in her cover of Across the universe by The Beatles.

Really enjoyed your reaction! AURORA is in a league of her own as both a singer and a songwriter! For an AURORA music video, I recommend her iconic environmental anthem "The Seed!" And I strongly recommend reactions to her live performances, where she takes each of her songs to another level! For instance, "It Happened Quiet," "Through the Eyes of a Child," "Little Boy in the Grass" or "Lucky" from the Nidarosdomen Christmas Concert in a cathedral with orchestral ensemble and choir; or "Infections of a Different Kind," "The Seed" and “Daydreamer” from the HAIK 2019 concert she held in a forest; the lively KEXP concert in Iceland, where she sings "Churchyard" and "All is Soft Inside” (with Bjork in attendance); and the Bergen Philharmonic concert where she sings “Soulless Creatures” live for the first time! These are just a few suggestions -- at age 24, she already has quite an impressive repertoire. I absolutely agree. Although her covers are amazing and she makes songs her own, her original music is even better and live versions better yet. Not to mention how kind and caring of a person she is. I have been fortunate to meet her a few times now and she never ceases to amaze me with her kindness, talent, and humor. BTW, love The Smiths shirt!
AURORA is an extraordinary talented young woman. I would say that she is a true poet. Her lyrics are just penetrating to listen to. Many say, healing, meditative, memorizing... etc. In short they inspire you to be a better human. In fact she does that, not just her lyrics. Everything she does and says is so emphatic, and just beautiful. I am proud to call myself a huge fan.

I don't think anyone else has mentioned it, but she taught herself how to play piano on a broken keyboard she had to play one handed, because she needed one hand to hold the power button so it didn't turn off.

This is so good. Go on discovering Aurora, she is a fantastic performer and songwriter, and dancer too. She has got it all. I suggest an early Aurora live from the 2015 Nobel Peace Price Concert in Oslo, Norway, doing "Runaway." Or "It Happened Quiet" from the Nidarosdomen Concert.
Hey guys, your first experience with the sweet Queen of Queendom.......I'm 67 yo like 50 years playing piano, painting and a devoted granpa raising my grandaughter......but I can tell you this, Aurora is the best I've seen in the last 5 years I found her......and man she fucking writes beautiful songs and makes her music and the arrangements and she is freaking awesome on stage so trust me this beautiful and gifted lady is unique bro 24 years old and a master of her craft.....see what she did with the Duke's song, I can see him huggin and adoring her for this awesome cover of Life on Mars......so you team up and get it going Aurora is the Best
Couldn't agree more! 71 year old fan here - grew up musically in the '60s and '70s with the likes of Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Dylan, Crosby Stills Nash - the list goes on. Aurora is a phenomenally talented young woman - I can't wait to hear what she will be doing in the next couple of decades!!

Aurora is just wonderful... you should react to the concert in Nidarosdomen ! The whole concert is just MAGICAL... it's 58 minutes long and it's worth doing a reaction to, completely. You will be mesmerized... by the venue, the set up, the instruments... and of course by her voice and stage presence.

What a way to kick off 2021 for u guys, you might already noticed she has a really devoted fanbase. For good reason, i really think she is doing something no one else is doing, and i don‘t know what it is, but i was in a really bad place and discovered her... i feel healed. I‘m much more happier in life... if not for your channel, than for yourself as music loving people, watch more of her.

You guys have a really great format and chemistry going on. I really enjoyed that. And she is worth checking out for real - and somehow she seems to vibe hard for us guys in our peak years who comes preloaded with Bowie and Dyland and Floyd and Joni Mitchel and all that good stuff. There are layers and depth to her. And everyone on this planet deserves to hear Aurora with Silja Sol (herself a solo artist) who frequently steps in as Aurora's backing vocalist.

Welcome to the world of Aurora. She and her music are one of the best kept "secrets" on the Earth. She is enormously popular in some countries but, mysteriously, not in the USA. Enjoy delving into her music. You have a grand and soul stirring adventure ahead. She has 3 albums out, not 2. :) And she is leaving all kinds of hints that album #4 will be soon released.
She sings this in concert as well. Her cover of Aryana Grande's God is a Woman is pretty amazing as well.

On her albums she only has her own music, and they are great as well! And her live versions are often different from the album versions, and also different from performance to performance.

I'm a HUGE Bowie _and_ Aurora fan.
And I've always loved Life on Mars. But...I honestly never quite got what the song was "about" lyrically. Always loved it musically though. But through Aurora, I've realized just how interesting it is musically...AND I finally think I get what the song is about. In a way it's about a young girl who's kinda disillusioned with the world...and is living in a bit of a fantasy...while finding the outer broader world kinda ridiculous and exhausting...and sort of desiring to just leave....leave the absurdity of this planet and see if maybe there's better things going on elsewhere....like Mars.
Aurora is the perfect person to deliver THAT message....as she is the girl in the song. If you dig into who she is as a person....she's this super smart creative introverted weirdo who ADORES reality and humans and nature and everything...but also feels a bit on the outside from it all...escaping into a fantasy of her own making. Again....she is the girl, the main character, of the song.
It's obviously metaphorical....but also very specific lyrically. I love how ever so campy it is...while also being rather profound...which is kinda Bowie in a nutshell. I like the line "It's on America's tortured brow....that Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow."
I never got that line before...but it's SO obvious in context now.
What a cover....
First, it's just beautiful. But it's also a cover that takes a great song....and expands on it. I gotta say, as big a Bowie fan as I am, I think her version is slightly more the definitive version, at least for me.

Aurora is a master of covers, she has this uncanny ability to find the essence of a song, bring it out and make the song her own. I notice you have a Beatles poster on your wall Greg and wonder if you have heard Aurora (and her band's) cover of Across The Universe. She has also covered Bob Dylan twice with Mr. Tambourine Man and Make You Feel My Love.
My three favorite covers that Aurora has done are Into The Unknown form Frozen II, Naughty Boy's La La La and Imagine Dragons Believer, and I like none of the three original songs. She is the voice of the North Wind in Frozen II so it was really cool that she has also made (with Disney's blessing) her own version of the song. The P3 Live Believer cover is especially impressive because of the circumstances of the radio show she did it on.
P3 Live is a radio show and the artists do an interview and get to sing one of their own song and do a cover, but they do not know in advance what song they will be covering and only get to know that less than an hour before they go on live. In that time the artist has to make an arrangement, memories the lyric as much as possible and rehearse a couple of time, and then they go on live.

I feel such a personal attachment to Bowie, makes it hard to not hear him even when listening to this, nothing against her, she's good.
Bowie is my favorite artist and Life on Mars is my favorite song, and i loved her cover. Its not a competition, she just loves the song and wants to sing it...but yeah i kinda get what you mean
