Nice reaction! Aurora is always best live (or in a music video). She has a lot of great original songs - my favorite is "Through the Eyes of a Child" the Vevo stripped version.
As far as covers - she has a few really good ones - she always manages to make them uniquely her own. Try these:
God is a Woman - Ariana Grande
    Believer - Imagine Dragons
    Teardrop - Massive Attack
Across the Universe - John Lennon
And of course her own version of Into the Unknown

Amazing very original voice! I particularly like her environmental anthem, 'The Seed' (she has several arrangements for this song -- the original music video, the HAIK (2019) concert she gave in a forest, the new rendition with the Bergen Philharmonic, and a stripped down version she performed for GreenPeace). Also great live performances of her songs 'Churchyard' and 'All is Soft Inside' for the KEXP Concert in Iceland! And others --there are quite a few to choose from! For covers, her renditions of 'Teardrop' by Massive Attack, and 'God is a Woman' by Ariana Grande are both incredible!

Aurora? she's the Best, she's kinda got the magic to do any cover and make the theme her own, lots of times even bettrer than the originals..off course it's not about comparing..it doesn't work, but talking about taste will do good enough. I'm sure the Duke would fall in love with Aurora instantly and heo ever get the chance to listen her cover of his beautiful song. Aurora is Norwegian and 24 years old and txs for your reaction.

Aurora is 24. She is very pixie like. I have heard this a number of times and it is a completely haunting rendition. Fun fact on a Grace Vanderwaal comparison - Grace had started wearing hair extension braids and had her hair dyed blonde. This was about a year or a little more ago. According to Grace, the braids were inspired by pictures she had seen of Hope Sandoval, the lead singer of Mazzy Star, while she was looking through Pinterest. Part of Aurora's signature look is the blonde hair with the dangling braids, so Aurora fans were swamping Grace's music videos and accusing her of stealing Aurora's look. Poor Grace had no idea who Aurora was at that time and when she found out about the fan backlash, she dyed her hair and changed the style to avoid any further accusations.

    • @kippys1

    • @Erfedwe

@@kippys1 to be fair to the Aurora fans, and I am one of them, many of them simply made a generic comment along the lines of "Aurora's hairstyle". A small minority were aggressive and confrontational. Grace's videos still get the Aurora comment to this day, just at a much lower volume than when they came out.

    • @kippys1
      @kippys1 3 года назад +1

@@Erfedwe Why do people care if artists have hairstyles that can be compared? There appears to be a proprietary attitude by some people to their favorite artists, as if they own them (AURORA will probably change hers at some point anyway).

    • @Erfedwe
      @Erfedwe 3 года назад +3

@@kippys1 that is a great question and I personally cannot comprehend the level of fandom that would cause a person to be that possessive and frankly obsessive. I often wonder why someone would jump to the conclusion that someone would intentionally copy or "steal" from another artist, before considering other more sensible and more simple explanations. Using Grace VanderWaal again as an example, she recorded a complete re-imaging of the 1972 hit single, "I Can See Clearly Now" by Johnny Nash. Only 3 lines of the chorus (the main hook) remain from the original, with all new lyrics, melodies, and meaning to the song. Grace helped to write the song and released it as a single with a music video. Johnny Nash was contacted for his permission and is credited as one of the writers. About once per day, someone posts on the video that she stole the song and should be sued for copy write infringement. The person commenting never considers that she had permission to use the original hook or that an artist on a major label like Columbia Records, would somehow be able to release a song that blatantly plagiarizes another song. I guess some people just like to jump to conclusions and assume the worst. These are probably the same people that fall for the latest conspiracy theories.

Oooo….whoever requested for you to start with these two Aurora songs steered you terribly wrong.
If you’re still going to do any more reactions to her, and if you’re ever going to find out if you do dig her stuff….I’d go with either “Through the Eyes of a Child” live at Nidarosdomen AND the VEVO Stripped down version. Then her three songs from the Nobel Peace Prize concert 2015.
    Then:
    -“The River”
    -“Conquerer” live on Jimmy Fallon
    -“Daydreamer”
    -“Across the Universe”
    -“Queendom”
    -“Warrior”
-“God Is a Woman”. Ariana Grande cover.
    -“Exist for Love”
And, if you haven’t fell down the Aurora rabbit hole by the third song on the list….then, yeah…🤷🏽‍♂️😁

Aurora is unique. Unfortunately you didn't like her version of this song and I can understand that. The other son wouldn't make my top 50 songs from her either. She has such beautiful lyrics and melodies which she has been writing since grade school. The melodies came 1st when she found a eleclric keyboard in an attic and taught herself to play...she didn't add words until she mastered the English Language. SHE was sought out by recording studio's to be signed at a young age and wasn't even going to sign because she didn't consider herself a "performer". Her mother said, "why don't you just give it a try and share your music" the rest is history. The 1st song that released went viral and then another pretty much right after that as well. She is more known world wide than in the U.S. Much of what she writes is deep and people interpret it in different ways. Her voice is angelic and her performances are, a lot of the times Aurora and one other instrument. She writes the music and lyrics (she does collaborate at times), the videos, the staging...pretty much everything...Aurora is totally involved with it.
Aurora is also an interpretive dancer which you see sometimes on her videos. She uses her whole body when she performs...some people say that the way that she moves her hands while she sings is distracting but that is Aurora. She is singing with everything .... not only her voice but her body as well as her soul. She is quirky and hilarious in interviews. She has a great personality...very open and totally unfiltered. She has been called a "free spirit" and I can totally agree with that because she is.
She is worth another listen...It will only do good for you....... her "You Tube" channel has great songs from her....Thru the eyes of a child......The seed.....Runaway.....Exist for Love.....Everything Matters (I don't know if she wrote this on or not but it is a great song), The Churchyard....and yes, The Murder Song....she sang that at the "Nobel Peace Prize" she got a standing ovation for it too. There is a lot to choose from ....Running with the Wolves, I think was her 1st hit (she wrote it before she was a teenager as well as Runaway was a hit and that was written before she was a teenager.
Feb 12, 2022 - She had 600 million views on May 31, 2021. On January 7, 2021 Aurora had 400 million views, so she has accumulated half a billion views in a little over a year.

As we know, youtube compression is far from loss-less. (I am aware that friends from abroad can not access all of the NRK online archives)
You are right though. The version I listened to here sounded like it had been down-sampled to a 32 kbit/sec MP3 codex or something. It is very harsh, sounding like the codex itself is about to crack wide open from being overloaded with information - clipping details and warmth and depth like crazy.

She’s a tough listen. I like her uniqueness and she’s talented. But some of it was like nails on a chalkboard. I need to go listen to her other songs.

I think it's better in the right context, - in Nidarosdomen.

Don't like the loud parts??? What a ridiculous objection. The volume is controlled by YOU - not the artist. Typical objection from nutcases used to pop music so compressed there's no dynamic left.

Her voice is really nice but I do not like this remake at all.
