I lost track of Glass years ago because, thanks to RUclips, I discovered so many other musical wonders in all kinds of genres. Today, I'm rediscovering Glass, and mostly because of hearing his 10.000 Airplanes On The Roof with the amazing Linda Rondstad again. Glass is absolutely addictive. This symphony reminds me a bit of what he did for the movie Secret Agent. That one is also beautiful, but more subdued, more hypnotising. Can somebody PLEASE upload that soundtrack? I lost the Minidisc on which I recorded Secret Agent...
@@adonissantos2853 10,000 Airplanes? I have the CD. It just got lost among 10, 000 other CDs. I gave it a more prominent place, so the little box can scream at me: "Play me, play me!" 🥰
@@adonissantos2853 O yes! My other favorite Glass! Sooo beautiful! I have the full soundtrack on a miniDisc, but the player went kaputt, and no one sells them anymore. But I just found a streamer site that has the 16 tracks. Happy!
I listened to this live in Canterbury Cathedral. It was _phenomenal_ , I never realised 8 Cellos could do such a thing... I can categorically say, as much as you are enjoying this in a recording it's _nothing_ compared to hearing this live, with the band, and with it played so well in person. My Goodness.
Real life, feeling the sound waves and the heat will always be the gold standard. Experiencing whatever it is that makes reality is where I want to be.
Philip Glass gets you to see that a LOT of instruments can do things we never thought they could. Pianos, flutes, xylophones, all the strings, even vocal parts like in Liquid Days. The performers all have their own kinds of genius too. I am so jealous of these musicians I could just cry.
Questo pezzo bellissimo, faceva parte di un cd degli anni 2001? Non ricordo esattamente ma son contento di aver comprato il cd e dopo tanti anni averlo regalato ❤ bellissimi ricordi
whereas mozart, for example, is always an entirely new, different, piece every time, eh? or maybe someone suffering dead ear syndrome wasn't hearing well, or with little acuity- like there's a huge difference between, say, firebird and sacre - point yet? or kanye sounds new everytime and never ever ... never mind - there's just good taste, and there's the lack - preference, on the other hand, is something entirely different - better to say you personally don't prefer it. it hides one's lack of sophistication well enough to sink back into the background without making such a ruckus.
That's my all-time favourite of Glass´s compositions. So transformative and beautiful....
Philip Glass is a treasure of our time!
Beautiful work & portraits

I found that to be most often the case

I heard this for the first time today on BBC Radio 3. I find it a fairly haunting/menacing piece of music. I love it!
What a great explorer and composer Glass is..
Magnifique ! Merci .
prachtige uitvoering van een bijzonder mooi werk. Hartelijk dank. Groeten aan Philip Glass & alle musici. Petrus Bagasbas.
Beautiful!
Lot of emotion, majestic sense of drama in a spacious meditative atmosphere.
Mesmerizing!
Truly breathtaking! Thank you!!!
Genius !
I am listening now.
Thanking Phillip glass
How charming, thanks a lot for sharing 🙏🌞💌🌻🌞☮️💖
Thanking everyone wonderful
Sublime, is all I have to say of this.
Philip Glass in all purity ... takes me away!
Unlike your logo
This music soars and dives like no other recent symphonic Glass. A row of qualifiers there, i know, but still true.
Heartbeat and discovery, brilliant. Did KOYAANIQATSI so perfectly.
Fantastische muziek en uitvoering!
Prachtig ❤️
cool - - like it...
Well played piece plus fine alternation of views of the Octet and the pictorial bio of the composer.
This is absolutely unreal, thank you!!!!!
Огромное уважение и невероятное восхищение!!!
La musique 🎵 il faut la comprendre “ c’est un langage universel ❤ comme un certain bonheur 🥹 🍀💋❤️⁉️
Whoever can’t understand this music is not human.
what a silly thing to say
Hmmmm . . . silly, or just unfair.

Parallel to his "Hours" and "Truman" soundtracks.
Oh, Good ! I love those soundtracks !!
And "Helen" 2011 by Andrey Zvyagintsev too)
originally Symphony No. 3, 3rd movement ?
Yes!
Glass un génie

Why is that woman on the pole not holding her cello?
Это мой путь к Богу.
Anyone know where you can find parts?
Philip Glass makes it look easy. But I assume it is not.
The only comment here should be "Genius"
talk about an original composer.
Hummus, it's monotonous, weird..
Re hashed re heated.. nothing new or interesting.. his self imposed limitations have run their course..
