I m totally blown away by this piano version and I consider the music written for the film The Hours, among Philip Glass' most sublime compositions. This pianist seems to me to have captured the very essence of the piece itself. As someone said earlier, I now prefer this version over the full instrumental rendition. Philip Glass somehow tears away the fabric that separates infinity from everyday existence and listening to his work always takes me to another place. Thank you Maestro Batagov for sharing your superb playing of this very special piece of music.
I totally agree with you!

Благодарю! С Рождеством и новым годом! Всего самого Доброго ! :))))
A year later, I still appreciate this. Thanks, fam.
Dunn tell me you're not the real glass, Philip
Tx!
thanks; just too bad the titles are so awful--and half the music--but I appreciate easily discovering immature pieces of music to gauge what normal people seem to like, and the awful titles help me realize what's going on in terms of where any iota of the talent is, if one finds any in this joke of a composition lol
I'd forgotten just how wonderful this performance was-so glad I stumbled back upon it and am now transported to a much nicer place in my head, does anyone out there still not believe that for all its pain, loss and struggle, life is Good and we are blessed in more ways than we can imagine?
Thank you Anton, the talent you give to us is most certainly a blessing.
I haven't played the piano in years, but this piece inspires me to get back it
Wonderful performance.
This music is full of feelings, thoughts, memories, nostalgia. So human. Non commercial, non manipulative. The work of a true artist. It leads me on through a beautiful road into the woods, or into my own soul.
Amazing interpretation. People who cough excessively should exit to the lobby until they can get it under control, says a cougher myself
Oh, but I might miss some of this great music!
Bless them. Musicians need to survive by selling some of their work.
I did not notice any coughing! Maybe because I am half deaf?
Actually, at the third cough, they should be shot on the spot.
😀
The best thing about that film was this music. Beautifully realized here, despite the coughing.
One of the best ever. It reminds me of the old times when playing on my auntie's piano as 3 years old every time when visiting Her with my father and since then still until today when it's still one of the most important instruments to put in almost every composition I try to make. Love it and can't leave it forever.
Transporting and transforming. It elevates the soul. Anton Batagov knows how to imbue a moment with eternity. (The cough renders existential contrast / Commercials have gone).
I have been listening to this performance for hours, several times on end. Now I tried again the original version with orchestra and dont like it so much anymore, I prefer the piano version. Well done Mr.Batagov, you sure captured the spirit of this magnificente music.
I wonder if you unconsciously add the orchestration when listening to this particular piano piece ?
Mesmerizing, hypnotic, absolutely wonderful! Will watch again and again!
Listening to the creations, the Art, of Glass is like looking at Fractal images on your PC as they descend and open in a progression like infinite flowers, beautiful, unique intellective images, always new yet the same, and like reading Dostoyevsky's shocking and brutal description of the descent to madness and final redemption -- a stunning, epistemological excursion into an amazing, human and uplifting experience.
Have to say this is a masterful performance - truely inspirational - thanks for posting.
Anton, what a pleasure it is hear such a fine interpretation. If I may; I think you and Philip have made the easiest bridge between Virginia Woolf and me ... and by 'me' I hope it is 'all listeners'. One more thing: Gosh how refreshing is it to see a performer just with a look of concentration and no flouncing. No deeply pained expressions, no unnecessary waving of arms and head etc.
So nice to have Ralph Fiennes play Glass' music for us, I didn't know Lord Voldermort was a pianist.
This score belongs to the beautiest achievements of classical-film music together with Michael Newman s music for film Piano...I enjoy them both very much...
Nikola Acimovic I agree on both films and scores.
Fantastic performance of a beautiful piece of minimalism. Thank you
thanks for helping me study anatomy ....when these masterpieces play in the background I tend to focus much more
Very emotional version which gets you mute y completely under the charm of beauty and poetry so that listening such a music for hours is so attractive and a real present: thanks a lot for giving us a so nice opportunity.
We are thankful to you mr. Batagov for this great performance!
Minimalistic, yet outstandingly dramatic and emotionally charged! Unprecedented really!
quelle force dans l'écriture et quelle force dans cette interprétation !!!
Superb pianist

I have a new piano on its way (via Amazon) I have the sheet music for this and watching the excellent Mr Batagov on this video has provided me with even more inspiration to really work hard and master this exquisite music.
Sincerest Thanks!
Обожаю Ф. Гласса. Никогда не думал, что классическая музыка так ударит. Спасибо, это было восхитительно!
To jest tak piękne, aż rozdziera serce 💔
Absolutely fantastic performance right from the beginning!! Deeply emotional and immensely touching. GREAT!! Thank you for this recording!! :)
Your beautiful performance is a great help learning to playing these. Thank you.
Anton, I think you will appreciate this irony. The photo is of me about to take off in a high altitude 'spy' plane (B57F) when I was a USAF pilot. The photo was taken about 50 years ago.
So much intense movement with such intense limitation., if I can only compose on my celtic hart from this discipline. It's my . . . aspiration, without anticipatoriry concepts unless the music insists. Seed. Within. Mini music? Genia of TJ.
Stunning!
Just beautiful. Heartfelt thanks.
The most quintessential interpretation ever performed on the piano. An absolutely remarkable true incarnation of the composer's soul,,,, definitive....
no puedo dejar de escuchar esto. me llega de verdad al alma.
So beautiful. Thank you. My favorite film score. You´re amazing.

❤️ Magnificent !
Прекрасно!
Hermosa thanks
Наполненное исполнение, рельефно в деталях. Респект.
Браво!!!
Sublime!
Absolutely LOVE this performance! After having heard several approaches, this is the best for my money. Tons of nuance that really brings out the emotional depth of this music. It's a different arrangement from the others, however. Was this Bagatov's work? If so, it too is brilliant. I'll be listening to this for years to come. Thank you, sir, and everyone involved with sharing it so generously.
Love it.
Thank you.
Превосходное исполнение 💝

Batagov is the best! The film "The Clock" is a masterpiece, and its performance is equivalent to a film

Merci beaucoup ! Thank you so much ! Votre interprétation va directement au cœur ! N’est-ce pas le plus important comme l’a déjà dit en ses mots Enescu ?
mil mesetas...ritornelo
Commercials suck. Piano. Beautiful.
4:13 👌
it should be illegal to attend piano concerts if you have a cough. Maybe they should have a soundproof couphing room, like a nursery, and escort coughers into it and lock the door.
A "savor the moment" interpretation
Many piano students who can't handle Clementi or Czerny are given pieces by Philip Glass to learn.
Why is minimalist music called minimalist? Is it because the chord changes are minimal and drawn out? Or something else. I'm obviously NOT a music major but I know beauty when I hear it.
Those labels are created by historical context and are often arbitrary. You can not infer from them to actual musical elements. House music isn't called that way because it has houses in it, the most likely origin is from the Warehouse club in Chicago.
@@redrum195 You may have a point there, but the word minimalism, in and of itself, is more descriptive of a piece of music than the word house.
Not just the chords, but I think minimalism refers to art in general that is relatively limited in its complexity and layering, and utilizes simplicity and repetition as one of its common themes.
It's called minimalist because your brain is put to minimal use when listening to it.
Because the idea is to wring the absolute most out of limited elements. Minimalism is about cutting to the heart of the matter.
После Чайковского, Шопена и Баха музыка Филиппа Гласса для меня очень важна, она меня спасает и держит
Most beautiful piece in the world.
Too bad for the guy who continuosly coughs.
I would love to know what edition he is using! Is this the Hal Leonard score? Please let me know if you know, I want to play this
