Glass is from an alternate universe. We must go there.
Well put...
Yes please take me there
Best suggestion I've seen on YT.
Selah. ☆
Surely we go there each time we gear one of his pieces played so beautifully. I know I do.
@@elise7593 ❤
Anyone else get goosebumps because this is so gorgeous? Leaves me breathtaken...
I'm with you there. It's as if the soul spoke in its gentlest most loving terms.
Ineffable. How does Glass mix such hidden tension, sadness, and soothing reassurance all together? Simply amazing - and so beautifully performed! It makes me melt.
Same here!
Amazing monotony.
@@mysticmouse7261 can you compose better than monotony?
@@LuizHenrique-hp1du I don't compose. Which doesn' t improve Glass.
It triggers my Lachrymal glands to produce streams of tears-it touches places inside I was never aware existed-that is the wonder and beauty of this art.
I need more Philip Glass music in my life !
In that case you need to get a life
@@jeffreyrowlands3303 :-D
I need more of this chick in my life
@@hamedm9241 more and more Philip Glass forever 💙💙💙💙
@@jeffreyrowlands3303 Or you need more Philip Glass in your life. Goof. Yeah, like the prison kind bud.
This makes me cry, not in a bad way.. Just looking at the trees moving in the wind, I have never seen anything more beautiful
If you haven't seen the, "Qatsi", trilogy, I highly recommend it. It's what turned me on to PG. Koyaanisqatsi was the 1st movie, and it is moving, is all I can say
@@79klkw I've seen Koyaanisqatsi and loved it. Would you recommend the other two as well?
@@79klkw Also see "The Illusionist", much different from Koyaanisqatsi and worth the time.
An incomparable genius whose music touches my heart like no other! There is a lot of love, sensitivity and gentleness in Mr Glass. He is indeed a very exceptional human being. Long may he live!
I listened to it two times and can't figure out why anyone would give this a thumbs down. I imagine it's blurred vision. As a result of having tears in their eyes they simply missed the thumbs up. 👍🏻
That's really beautiful what you wrote.
I accidentally pressed thumbs down. So sad, but didn’t mean to
brings me back home.shall I dare say, the universe as one and one as being human and part of all what we share together . Robbie Jackson
Whenever I wanna escape and have some rest I listen to him
Only a golden heart could compose such a sublime Masterpiece.
Absolutly beautiful.
One of Glass's best pieces and this ensemble is bringing such an introspective and melancholy tone to this piece.
This rendition is incredibly heartfelt, it's a bit like "Opening" meets "Spiegel im Spiegel"...
I'm in utter awe, taking it all in
Glass, Pärt , Pook, Ligety paint life in another way... A way that I have followed in the lights from their beacons...
"two roads diverged..."
Magical. The slower pace, far slower than Glass's original, allows so much more room for emotion to play out. I listen to this and well up. Utterly beautiful.
So heavenly, it is beyond words.
This piece feels like a timeless whisper. Joyous!
A perfect performance! This piece has such a reserved feel. It’s brimming with pent up tension and yet is so soothing at the same time. Very sweet.
Perfect performance -- and a perfect description of the duality I also feel!
In lf the 2nd to last comment was by a bloke; very well done for being so articulate!
This put the song to another level, the slow pace is mesmerizing . This is pure heaven. Well done guys.
Guys!?
Glass is a true GENIUS is music MAKES ME happy to the point of CRYING..
These guys are amazing… how do they make this piece even more beautiful?
Guys!?
I honestly think it's one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It makes me cry every time.
I am crying as we speak! Lol not even embarrassed. Ugly-crying to one of the most beautiful songs in existence.
Yes, I was cleansed this morning. I let it all go.
This masterpiece from Philip Glass was one of the music parts i chosen at the funeral of my mother 😪
As much as we, as mere listeners of this extraordinary beauty, enjoy this piece, consider the satisfaction and joy which the musicians here are experiencing. I'm sure that they don't require immense compensation for their craft here. This is a demonstration of commitment to music, life and Mr. Glass. I'm beyond "being blown away" by this performance. It's such a privilege to hear them.
Glass!
Bang on a Can.
This combination works better than I can describe.
Simply one of the most beautiful things ever created by the human mind
That's music ...
Only for specials ears
Philip Glass, always amazing
Hearing this I thought of the movie "The Hours" whose score was hauntingly beautiful but never knew who wrote it. Just looked it up and sure enough it was written by Philip Glass. Both very moving.
Glass was the reason why I started playing piano. I learned what I know by playing "Metamorphosis" and really enjoy those early pieces but think "The Hours" is the best he have done.

What a wonderful music, what an interpretation: BRAVI!
Never think about life and the astronomical difference of one's life to the universe when listening to Philip Glass
Moving. Philip Glass music at its highest level. And I especially love to watch the wonderful cellist's playing and expressions.
Really enjoyed this interpretation. Such a deep well to draw from. Beautiful.
Excellent performance by all these artists!!
Straordinario. Ogni volta che ascolto questo pezzo mi sento trasportato in un'altra dimensione, come nell'esperienza di una vita passata.
Very beautiful! Great rendition of a classic Glass composition. Thank you !
I totally agree but then I usually agree with my brother. Thanks for sharing this beautiful music with me. ❤️
I have watched this several time. Always draws me in
That was wonderful. Bookmarked so that I can return to it, as I will.
I love that this piece is two very simple rhythms which, when played together, create the aural equivalent, via two meters, of a gestalt switch drawing. I've played it on piano for decades and can never hear either "simple" hand while playing, just the entire relationship. Listening to it I can hear them each easily, though.
english please
@@aes1r212 Google is easy. Gestalt drawings are those that can be viewed as two completely different things depending on your perspective. Famous examples are the duck/rabbit and the vase/two faces.
help is on it's way for the poor english
@@aes1r212 Would you be able, dear Aesr1r, to write what herakeleitus (whom is greek I think) wrote in another language than yours ? For fun, just translate your despising "english please" in greek and french : )
Maybe the only two words he knows...
We are a lot of people who try to write in a possibly not absolutly correct english, but we try... And what is marvellous is that, the most of the time, we can understand us. I would like @aes 1r try an effort and do like us, his reply in our langages ! welcome to him !
I'm french, and I've learn english at school a very long time ago, 45 years. The web is also a great space for training
Beautiful music. Cellist is fab. :)
Absolutely sublime. I find this rendition lifting my spirit and momentarily smoothing away so much of my life's tension.
Ah yes . . beautiful version of this great piece.
This is just beautiful.
Glass's music speaks to me in a diifferent way from Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Debussy etc. But it is just as meaningful and profound. It certainly relates to and gets beneath that 'superficial' glaze that covers modernity and connects with the ego.
I always wonder what those classical composers would have made of this type of music.
idiot
@@jppmccrea Look in the mirror, Homeboy. That’s all you.
I know what you mean. I guess one explanation is the meditative state these minimalist, er, repetitive structures put us in. Standard repertoire just doesn't do that (except for Schoenberg's Six Pieces, Op.19, imo).
@@barbarasmith6005 I'll give this a listen.
Beautiful. I have a synth recording of the opening on youtube, and this just reminds me that sometimes synths really suck
Best rendition I ever heard...
Indescribably exquisite. Superbly played, emotionally heartbreaking.
You know, I'm not always sure how I feel about Glass's works. But this...it just hit something deep, and now I can't stop listening to it.
Helpful herakleitus--so soothing on this troublesome pandemic Sunday morning.
Wonderful. Really love this. Also brings to mind Arvo Part.
Muy inspirador, gran compositor y excelente ejecución. Saludos desde Venezuela
These folks really grasp this music. What a great ensemble.
Joyfully-sad peaceful melancholy. Like a remote island of calmness in the middle of an ocean of noise.
G o r g e o u s. Thank you very much for posting this wonderful interpretation.
beautiful......I could feel myself calming right down and even started to breathe in -time to this.
Cullante, soffice, evocativo. Il tappeto di terzine che caratterizza il grande Glass. Eccellente arrangiamento e bravi i musicisti. Cradling, soft, evocative. The triplet carpet that characterizes the great Glass. Excellent arrangement and bravi musicians.
A beautiful moment of musical serenity
Thanks to you Philip and to your beautiful orchestra

Beautiful so beautiful astounding 🌹💖😌
The sonic representative of the planet Heaven. Music of the spheres. Deep as the Inner Earth 🙂 Unparalleled 🙂
Ashley Bathgate's (meta) sonic expression is extraordinary 🙂
This is the song for watching the end of everything. this video included for the musicians capturing the emotion required for the piece. fantastic
always been a fan of glass. and this is the first ive heard of this one in particular, unfortunately. but it definitely has the stylings of him :) i love it
Nagyon szép kamarazene. Időnként Beethovent hallom benne. Élmény! A vibrafon és a gitár az már " turbo".
A piece faintly similar to this one introduced me to Glass way back in the early 80s, I think it was..
Marvellous!

Con esta canción sólo necesito ver el cielo, ahí donde nace el alba, donde el inicio se desvanece con el final. En esa justa línea nubosa donde se encuentra el ahora y por lo tanto, la eternidad.
