I don’t think that played well with the big music publications.

I love the drumming on this. Phil Selway is often criminally overlooked as a drummer. In this song the drums at the end are a failing heartbeat and the sound of blood rushing in the ears until the heart stops an consciousness fades away.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it but Bryan Ferry founded the band. He was always going to be the frontman and singer and not just keys The first couple of albums were all his songs. Phil and Andy started having co-writes with him from the third album onwards.

Yeah this was an early version that went out on a VHS video, I have it somewhere, they recorded this again later for the album Little man and a house and the whole world window. I agree Greg, it is the best guitar solo ever! I listen to lots of great guitarists like Zappa etc. but what Tim plays here is just pure beauty!

They need to be listened to a lot of times , first time I listened to cookie mountain it did nothing for me but it became a grower - my favourite song of theirs is TROUBLE - and is in my top 20 by anyone ( well worth checking out) .

This one, and "Then" are great singles. I also liked the follow-up album's song "Weirdo", but true, here in America they didn't do much business. Shame.

From my experience it's pretty common that some people have an allergic reaction to Chris Martin's high notes.
