    Watch the Haik concert. It’s set in the forest where she used to wander as a child :-). If you just want to listen to one song from the concert listen to The Seed.

      My favourite concert too... Aurora has grown into herself and it's just a beautiful setting. And she's right in her element where she spent so much of her innocence of childhood. She is literally so at home here and it shows.

    I'm enjoying this format of review you too are doing. I get the feeling being a spectator of your private conversation and only accidently the camera is on, too. That's funny.
    And yes, her fellow fans are called (and proudly call themselves) 'warriors and weirdos'.
    22:56 Speaking of Björk ... she was in the audience of this particular KEXP show of Aurora and is a big fan herself of our fairy queen. :)
    I'm looking forward to see more reviews on her songs and performances by you guys.
    For the song 'Lucky' I strongly recommend the performance at Nidarosdomen (Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, Norway) - ruclips.net/video/AmTiqR2_VAw/видео.html
    Cheers !

    Hahaha the Ariane cover-story. So far I read in comments she was invited into a radio station where the artist get a song they have to performe and just one hour time to produce the cover song. Later I heard she even do not like the song at all. So she switch the song and make it her own. Worth to hear and see. Look how she play piano and impress the song with her hands. You will not believe it form talking must be seen.

    • @mammastenhjerte
      @mammastenhjerte 3 года назад +4

      Yes, NRK P3 Live is a radio show where the artist have to do a over, but they to not know in advance with song or artist, and they get a little over an hour to prepare, and make a cover for the song they were given. The Ariana Grande cover came about because of the (at some times) dark Norwegian sense of humor. Aurora said in a "jam or not a jam" interview that she does not like Ariana Grande, so naturally she was given a Ariana Grande song to cover.

    I'm in my late 40s and stumbled across Aurora a couple years ago and just fell in love with her music and her as a person. She cuts though life's cynicism that was built around me. There's an excellent documentary called Haik that leads into an excellent concert. It's around here on youtube, highly recommended.

"Lucky" could very well be your next. If so, please go to her live performance in Nidarosdomen, the 900 years old cathedral in Trondheim, Norway. The whole concert is fantastic and epic. Yes, she wrote Lucky when she was nine. Cheers from Norway.

    I have followed aurora now for five years,seen her perform live,watched every video and live concerts that i can possibly find.yes you might say I'm hooked.my friends often ask me what is the one song that I like the best,now that hard for I can honestly say every song has moved me in ways I never thought possible.but there is one song that has never been released called Why did you have to go. For me it's a song that sets aurora apart from any other artist it's a very personal song for aurora,she wrote the song for a very special friend who sadly died in an accident only then to be asked to perform it at the funeral can you imagine what that must of been like for her, but the song is one of the most moving songs you will ever hear trust me your tears will be uncontrollable and you will never forget it.yes aurora is not only a special artist she is a wonderful and caring human being,would love to hear your thoughts about the song,I think you will be moved in the same way I was.from the UK stay safe.

    I really like the way guys do this, talking with eachother. It's a new element in all these reactors out there. Cool, good idea.
    That said, Aurora is AMAZING. I'm 45 years old, and I've become a fan like I'm 14. The way she connect with the fan base of hers (Warriors and Weirdos) is wonderful. It's very interesting to hear you talk about her, it's close to how I journeyed into her world.
    Many people have reacted to Murder song (5,4,3,2,1) and Through the eyes of a child - plus those you have done. If you want to check out something rare (yet beautiful songs), I would suggest "Infections of a different kind" as one of her own, or the performance of Leonard Cohens "So Long, Marianne" from Chicago right after she learned about his passing (it's a cell phone recording, but the sound is quite good anyway).
    Welcome to the Queendom, guys 😍

    Fantastic reaction. And if you want to see a third kind of Aurora, check out It happend quiet, Lucky or IThrough the eyes of a child from the concert @ Nidarosdomen.
    Your talk about being diffrent is so on spot. In an interview (documentry) she talks about her autism, how she felt diffrent when she got into her teens. How the called her autist when she got a great score at a MENSA test and she didn't realy understand wha they laughed at her.
    The Grande cover is amazing.

      The HAIK documentary (and concert) you refer to are incredibly touching and show Aurora's personality so nicely. They were on Norwegian Public TV, weren't they? What great shows they put on 👍👍
      Nidarosdomen is arguably her best overall performance, she's incredible!

    • @RA-do9wm
      @RA-do9wm 3 года назад +5

      She doesn't really talk about her autism, as Aurora has never, as far as I know, mentioned being on the spectrum. In the HAIK documentary she only says that the other kids thought that she was and bullied her for it after she got good results on the IQ test. They thought the reason she was a little weird was because she was autistic. Maybe she is or maybe she isn't on the spectrum, but it's not something she has talked about openly.
      The subtitles on the HAIK documentary are a bit off here, as they don't convey the nuances in what she's saying.

    • @JamoStefan
      @JamoStefan 3 года назад +1

      @@RA-do9wm May be so. I could have missunderstood but thought she talked bout her self when she say ""Eg er ju autist"". Anyway, fantastic documentry.

    • @RA-do9wm
      @RA-do9wm 3 года назад +2

      @@JamoStefan Agreed, it's an incredible documentary.
      She says: "No forstod de det [hvorfor hun fikk et godt resultat på testen], for eg var autist. Fordi at eg var rar." (Now they understood [why she got a good result on the IQ test], it was because I was autistic. Because I was weird). Basically the "I was autistic" is all about what the other kids thought, because she starts the entire thing with "They said it was because ...".

    Hi Greg I wondered if you had seen the cover of Leonard Cohan old blue raincoat by aurora, as you know Leonard had a massive influence on aurora as a child and out of all the covers that she performs this for me was one of the most moving,she performed it in Norway where they held a tribute to Leonard Cohan just after he sadly passed away for me there is so much love put into this performance but also a painful sadness that you can see on her face it's a very moving tribute that for me shows the empathy and love in this young girls heart for someone that meant so much to her,hope you enjoy it.

      Hi, John - No, I haven't. Aware of it, but it's really tricky now with Aurora songs, as I want to get in on first-time reacting to some of her songs for the channel. She's so new to me, too. So, while I see where Chris will get more of her songs to react to, I'm careful of what I am watching on my own of hers. But, we'll work it out. OK - where to start! Love the format - sharing a musical discovery with your buddy, so cool (and I know how fraught with anxiety that can also be). I like the way you look at the total performance - music, lyrics, presence. I am a huge fan of Aurora and so I really appreciated this reaction - and the one to her Life on Mars cover. You guys are in for some wonderful treats reacting to her music. I find it interesting how she appeals to a wide range of age groups (I'm 71 myself - came of age in the 60's and 70's). Perhaps it's because she seems to have a wisdom far beyond her years and an ability to empathize with all the many different people she comes across. Anyway - look forward to more Aurora reactions from you guys!

    The Seed live from Haik is amazing. This concert was part of a surprise day for Aurora. The whole day consisted of many little surprises for her. As well as in the concert itself. In this song was a mens choir. Aurora doesn't know that.She also didn't know where the concert was going to take place. There is a whole documentation of this day. Fantastic reaction. Subscribed for Aurora. You are 100% correct about how she was bullied in her youth for being different. She spent a lot of walking in among the trees around her home in Norway. The video for Runaway was filmed around her home. Runaway is also the song Billie Eliish listen to in her run that inspired to do music as a career.
    Lucky is my favorite song and this is my favorite version. ruclips.net/video/AmTiqR2_VAw/видео.html AURORA - Lucky (Live at Nidarosdomen)
    Aurora is fantastic live and there are many great videos of her in concert. I believe this year she has done at least three stream concerts. Bjork was at this concert in Iceland. kexp.org/read/2018/11/8/kexp-live-iceland-airwaves-2018-day-3-aurora/ Lucky was written when she was nine.
    Really enjoying the format and this Warrior and Weirdo is going to sit back an enjoy the ride. BTW, as you probably already noticed, the fan base is amazing and will provide you with all sorts of information and suggestions. Also don't be shy about check out the same song in different venues. She changes them up and gives them a different feel. Want to react to an entire concert? Yep we will be there.
    Her songs can be interpreted in different ways depending on your experience and she likes it that way. Even her own interpretation of some of her songs have changed as she gets older. I never thought, I as a 51 year old, would say that of a 24 year old.
    She is a metal head and I have lost track of the number of metal heads and hard rockers that simply adore her. She has followings across all age groups.
    I better stop here for now since I could go on and on about our Queen
    You have many great songs and many variations of them in your future. I really do envy the both of you. I wish I could go back and rediscover her all over again.

Everything from Nidarosdomen (cathedral) and HAIK concert (live surpriseconcert in the forest where she grew up), are really great versions of her songs. Remarkable live performances. Other really great songs: Animal Soul, The Seed, Through the eyes of a child, It happened quiet. Her lyrics really deserve analysis, so much interesting things going on, layers of meanings etc.
    One of the absolute most emotional songs I have ever heard is the unreleased song «Why did you have to let go». It was performed in a funeral for a friend she lost in a carcrash incident. The audio is from the actual funeral, the video is some fan made video editing background.

    Enjoying your reaction and discussion, thanks. I enjoy the KEXP performances, but the sound quality isn't the greatest. For this song, I really enjoy the Haik concert, really great sound, plus subtitles are there, but you don't need them much, actually.

    i would like to point out that Silja Sol has left Aurora for doing her own music. Its a little sad tho.. Seeing Silja here,, she sings just as good as Aurora, she does rytm and play keyboard and back vocals in this performance. But if you do some search, you can also see Silja play gitar:

    Aurora attract talent, but rightly so she need it too. She has had many giftet musicians with her. Martin at the start of her career was also amazing

    I'm struck by her voice and similarity to Cranberry singer Dolores O'Riordan, One is Irish (ruclips.net/video/6Ejga4kJUts/видео.html in case you missed it) and Aurora is Norwegian. I'm not of the connection but blame the vikings.

    Great reaction again!
    I do not understand why this KEXP is a favorite... The mix between the lead and backing vocals are not the best...., espesially in the beginning... I think Silja is pushing her inear monitor several times?
    But that is only my opinion, I find the Nidarosdomen, Haik, Nobel conserts a lot better.. Maybe it is just my taste... I don't know.... (I totally respect others taste....)

      I believe people are reacting to her personality and the energy she performs with more than the music mix. She just feels GENUINE and shows such good energy at KEXP. I notice the same details as you at KEXP but for me it's still one of my very favorite videos. My humble opinion, she's great 😉

      agree with u about the mix after watching it more over time but the energy level is so good that u couldn't dislike it & put it among her best live videos ;)

      I agree with this. The live-mix of this song at HAIK is at a different level.
      Maybe people are enchanted by the heaviness of the drums and the energy-explosion in the KEXP-mix? Oh well.

      It's the performance and Aurora herself that makes this great. And it is great.

    Lucky: ruclips.net/video/6YpYgT2B6Hg/видео.html This I think is the best live version, along with the one from the concert @Nidarosdomen: ruclips.net/video/AmTiqR2_VAw/видео.html
