Because of your videos, I just bought my first Ram ever; 2021 Ram 3500 HO dually Laramie Sport. I'm very excited. I needed to upgrade my 2013 3500hd Duramax SRW for more payload and more stability for my toy hauler. Your videos/info helped make my decision. I debated going for F-450, but as I have owned a Ford before, and really wanted to try Ram out.
I really enjoy your channel please keep them up. I got my 1st Ram 5 weeks ago. I pick up a 2021 Ram 2500 Laramie Mega cab night edition with air in the back. I am only pulling 10,000 pounds trailer. This is the only vehicle I have so I drive it everywhere and loving it.
I have a 2021 2500 crew cab 4x4 6.4 hemi with the off-road package and 6.4 bed and 3.73 gears and this thing is pretty awesome. It does ride rougher than the 1/2 ton, which is to be expected but not a deal killer for me if you air the tires down to about 62 psi cold pressure and aren't in it on rough roads for a long time. The ride is astonishingly smooth and quiet for a base model 3/4 ton. Mine is a decently optioned tradesman and it is very nice to me with the exception of the hard plastic doors, oh and did I mention mine has roughly 1000 miles and my fuel economy not towing is averaging 16 mpg hand calculated. And that's with a lot of driving in the Missouri mountains and bumper to bumper traffic in Branson. If I would have known how capable and efficient these new 2500 hemis were I would have just bought one in 2019 instead of the 1/2 ton ram I bought and got rid of. Great truck for the money and couldn't imagine what a bighorn or Laramie with air suspension would be like
It's funny reading all the comments from big horn guys, yeah you can get the big horn with a lot of options that the Laramie has standard but then the Big Horn would be a lot closer in price. The Laramie also has a lot of safety equipment standard like blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning and collision warning. Both good trucks but the Laramie definitely is the nicer truck.
Thanks for all your review videos man! I had a 2020 Ram 2500 Tradesman 6.4 Hemi (Awesome truck in it’s own right) and just traded up to a 2021 Ram 2500 Bighorn 6.7 Cummins. I’ve watched a lot of your videos for comparison research and it helped a lot. Thanks again!
I honestly bought it just because I wanted it. My bumper pull is only 7k pounds and the 6.4 Hemi was more than enough power. The diesel, however, has the exhaust brake which was my favorite thing about it. They’re both great trucks but there’s just something about a diesel.
@@r2bboats can’t argue that. You’ll likely get it back someday in resale. No matter, you’re the one who has to be satisfied and it sure sounds like you are.
Great review and very timely! I’m picking up my 2500 Big Horn Night Edition tomorrow. Thanks for your reviews, they’ve helped a lot. Ours does have a dampened tailgate (equip group 2), and has power convex mirrors (tow tech group is only $1000 Cdn). Supply is terribly low in Canada right now. *I should add the payload is 2803 with the 6.4.
Drove my 2500 Big Horn 6.4 Night Edition home yesterday - love it! Now that I’ve actually driven it, I just want to point out a couple things - the Equipment Group 2 and B have the larger 7 inch display in the IC that’s in the Laramie (and it’s nice!). From what I can tell, the difference between Equipment group 2 and B is that 2 has the blind spot monitor/cross traffic alert (optional on Group B). Also, hard to tell in your video, but the Night Edition has a black headliner…took me a few minutes to figure out when I started driving it. My son also pointed out as it got darker that our old Laramie had nice blue ambient lighting on the doors at night, and our new 2500 doesn’t have ambient lighting (I believe it’s an option) :-) Thanks again for your videos - I appreciate that you talk about other trim levels, vs most reviewers only look at the fully loaded versions (and your focus on using a truck for towing/payload). :-)
I'm considering upgrading my 2017 Ram 1500 Bighorn to a Ram 2500 for towing ability. Just recently came across your channel. I appreciate all the info!
Good video. Both are nice trucks. I’ll probably ruffle some feathers here but I think Ram is going the Ford route on the mid level trim trucks and kind of forcing you to a higher trim to get some of the options. Ram used to be good about offering the nice options on lower and middle trims and I guess technically they still do because of the available options you mentioned for the Big Horn but that adds a lot of additional cost to the truck. At that price point ($65,000ish) in an LT trim Chevy you would have park sensors, blind spot monitors, smart key, dual zone climate control, heated seats and steering wheel, rear USB ports, and possibly leather and a 110 outlet. Chevy has always been good about giving a lot of nice options on the LT trucks and Ram was too but that Big Horn is missing a lot of stuff and it’s still almost $65,000.
I agree, RAM used to let you have LED Headlights on the 2019 Tradesman but then they changed it in 2020. RAM does let you have cool features on lower trim levels but they make you pay for a bunch of other crap you may not want. Thanks Matthew 👍🏾
This video is by far the best comparison. Being side by side was very helpful. I have the hardest time understanding the roughly 5-8k extra for the Laramie. I know leather, and nicer Interior but not sure what else. The same with the tradesman vs. Big horn. Many people option the tradesman for far less than the big horn. I'm still going to order the 2500 but missed the cut off date. That's OK dont know what to buy yet 😛😛
Thank Ernest! I may need to do a comparison with a base Bighorn/Tradesman. A lot of stuff you saw on the Laramie was not available on BH which is why the price was so much more. When you see both trucks stripped down, it becomes pretty apparent why the Laramie carries a higher price tag
A better comparison would have been a Long Horn with the Level 2 Option package and blind spot included. That package makes the difference B/T the two trucks very, very minimal. (Big Horn / Lone Star Level 2 Equipment Group. Blind-Spot w/TAG Trailer & Cross-Path Detection)
By the time you option out a bighorn its pretty dang close to Laramie.....so if you wanna keep it close to base a bighorn is nice option....otherwise just buy the Laramie Laramie has better resale value as well
JB, i have a 2021 3500 big Horn h.o with tail gate assisted and 7 inch sreen . The 8.4" and 12" centre screen are available on the big Horn and hd mirror also. Almost every option are available on the big Horn beside leather seat.
That's crazy you're over at Criswell Thurmont my good friend David Riley works there you might know him also I'm looking at getting one of their Laramies or a limited longhorn.. I just wish they wouldn't put that Criswell badge on the tailgate
I ordered my 2021 Ram 2500 BigHorn fully load. Biggest reason I went with the BigHorn is I don’t like leather interior. I DM you my build sheet tell me what you think JB.
Thanks for the detailed review JB. I was selling myself on the Laramie until I saw the sticker...ouch! I wonder with the chip shortage if theyre willing to haggle a little or not.
I don't see why they would anymore than usual. The shortage a is a supply issue, which would drive up prices. If you don't need a truck now, I would wait a little.
No they will not lower the price i purchased a Laramie 7 days ago and they would not lower no prices they did say It's a chip shortage & the truck would be gone in 48 hours
Even though my window sticker says Laramie I must have a big horn because I did not get those power steps and the fender flares with my 24 mega cab WTF
Big Horn does have a higher parade, and Tradesman has the Highest, because the more you put on them the less payload you get. Rambo had a 5,760lb payload capacity, which is huge (even in the dually world). It's all how you option them. I had the comfort of the Laramie package, and the huge payload. I remember the dealer saying g to me he had never seen someone so anal about those numbers. I am huge on knowing what I want, then going after it.
I enjoy your content. However, I'm very distracted by your camera work. Try to do less movement. Focus on one area and leave the camera still as possible.
I think LED headlights are overrated. They tend to blind on-coming traffic and don't do anything to heat up the lens to help keep snow off during the winter.
Nope! I think the 4th Gen Laramie seats were much better. My drivers seat in my 2020 squeaks when sit down or go over any bumps/pot holes/etc and I’m not 300 lbs!
Big horn for the win....but it does sound like "big horn bashing" in this review. Cheaper, yet still to expensive, No leather or fender flares for me. Those are useless because dodge chargers and challengers have ALL of the fender flares for their "widebody pandemic".
Because of your videos, I just bought my first Ram ever; 2021 Ram 3500 HO dually Laramie Sport. I'm very excited. What made you get diesel? Towing?

Thank you
Its the best review yet.
I think you get a lot in a 2500 tradesman with certain options
Most informative vid on these two I've seen.
Thank you for posting all these details! A great education.
Which one for ram 2500 trim level between Laramie or Bighorn for the right price.
A nice review that answered all of my questions.
Get the Laramie I have one with the blackened package and it's a beautiful truck.
Love the Blacked out Appearance trucks JB ..
Another great video! But man, $77k for a 3/4, ouch.
Lol! You make a really good point... I’m going 3500 HO and have the capacity to pull a big trailer. Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
That’s without the Cummins option!!
The choice for me is the Laramie with all the options
Laramie is the way to go. Lots of features but not so much as to be afraid to get it dirty lol.
Lol!
By the time you option out a bighorn its pretty dang close to Laramie.....so if you wanna keep it close to base a bighorn is nice option....otherwise just buy the Laramie
Laramie has better resale value as well
RAM es RAM..... Excelentes Camionetas
I’m happy with my Ram 1500 lonestar package

Very good review young man.
Price on the Larmie 2021? $50k?
That's crazy you're over at Criswell Thurmont my good friend David Riley works there you might know him also I'm looking at getting one of their Laramies or a limited longhorn.. I just wish they wouldn't put that Criswell badge on the tailgate
Small world, you can have them remove it 👍🏾

Ouch. I saw a scratch on the tailgate on the Laramie. Brand new and already scratched from the factory.
Yea that stinks...
Another great video JB!!
Thanks Monique 🙏🏽
I would get the Big Horn. Thanks for sharing buddy great video. Not the engine or transmission I would have in whatever Ram I would get. 👍
Hopefully we will get some news in the coming months about the new transmission! Thanks Ric 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork That would be cool if they would put a better transmission with that engine.
Love your videos!
Thanks Alexander 🙏🏽

Great video Pal!
Thanks James 👍🏾
Even though my window sticker says Laramie I must have a big horn because I did not get those power steps and the fender flares with my 24 mega cab WTF
Sign off sounds familiar :)
Great video as usual. Any ideas if they are going to update the cab and bed for the 3/4’s?
🤣🤣🤣! I was wondering when someone would catch that lol! PD Diesel has a very underrated channel... I’m appalled he’s not at 100k subs right now
I’ve been hearing 2023 will be re-design but who knows anymore... people were saying 2021 they were going to redesign and that didn’t happen
My 2021 power wagon is 5th gen cab and bed.

I think LED headlights are overrated. They tend to blind on-coming traffic and don't do anything to heat up the lens to help keep snow off during the winter.
Very true!
They shine through the snow
@HalfShell If you are that night blind you shouldn't be driving st night anyways.
great video!!!!!!
Thank you!
FCA makes too many features "options"... Things that should be standard with certain trims, are not.... That's not very customer friendly.
Big Horn isn’t a Laramie, and there’s about a $5k price difference to confirm it. I prefer the BH.
I’d rather have the Big Horn...I think the seats are more comfortable. The Laramie seats are a disgrace for that price tag IMO.
Ha, you don’t like the suede/leather either huh?
Nope! I think the 4th Gen Laramie seats were much better. My drivers seat in my 2020 squeaks when sit down or go over any bumps/pot holes/etc and I’m not 300 lbs!
