A lot of other videos recommend multiple HST method but I've always end up with wonky HST. I tried cutting it into triangles like you suggested for chain piecing & honestly I feel it's actually more accurate! TFS all your tips 😘
I love your videos, recently discovered you and have been binge watching them. Question for you, do you ever worry about a scant 1/4”? Would you just run your fabric just left to the middle line instead touching?
Thanks for showing the one at a time method. I usually do the two at a time, just because so many patterns seem to refer to them. But chain piecing them sounds super easy, so I’ll try this the next time. Thank you!
I bought some of the diagonal seam tape. I didn't realize I was lining it up wrong! I thought the centre line is what lines up with the needle. It's an older machine with a table you attach to it that hugs the machine when you pack it up. The tape needs to be cut to pack the table back up and sadly it isn't as wide as your table. Now I will redo the process of taping it having watched your video. Thank you.
You do line the middle line of the tape up with the needle. Jessica isn’t using tape she has just drawn her own lines on the table with a permanent marker the way that works for her. 🙂
Great video Jessica…thanks for sharing ths! Missed you last week and glad you are back, LOL!! I have not tried your method of one at a time, but instead had gone in the direction of using the speciality rulers for cutting the two pieces at once, then chain piecing them like you do for the one at at time. Looking forward to experimenting with your method! Wondering if you will be addressing the specialty rulers.
Thank you! Making videos is difficult in the summer with my kids lol! I'll do as many as I can but will get back to a more regular schedule in the fall. I'm not sure if I'll address specialty rulers because I really don't use any. I've tried a flying geese one once at the beginning of my quilting journey and it was good but it was for making oversized and then trimming down, which I won't do anymore.
@@jessica_dayon I am completely with you about not doing the make it bigger then cut it down to size method!! Looking forward to trying your one at a time! Enjoy your summer with your kiddos…I was only whinning, LOL!!! Thanks for sharing your lovely talents with us!!!
I've been wanting to ask you about the 3 lines below the feed dogs. I understand why you have the line from the needle, and the 1/4" to the right of the line. But why do you have the 1/2" line? I would think it'd be more useful to have 1/4" to the left of the center line (the one that lines up with the needle)
I don't have any trouble at all if I am using a straight stitch plate. If I am using a 5.5mm or 9mm plate, it does get pulled down at the points occasionally. Whenever I am piecing a quilt, I always use a straight stitch plate to eliminate that headache.

I agree, it is what is always referenced and sometimes you don't realize that you can do it another way. I hope you like it!

I'm not sure of the directions on the diagonal seam tape. I've never used it! Hopefully the package explains how to line it up for you.

When I'm doing 4 at at time geese, I like having that additional line. You could definitely do it whatever way suits you.
Hi, do you ever have any trouble with the points getting sucked into the feed dogs when sewing HST’s one at a time?

@@jessica_dayon right! I often forget to put that plate back on after I’ve done some zigzag stitching. Thanks for the reminder!
Don’t forget about using leader and ender fabric pieces, this help enormously with the even feed & saving thread 😊
Leader and ender is an option but I never use that method.
