Excellent testing! The energy transfer on the FN green tip was impressive! The penetration on the Black Fang was amazing, but it would be scary for EDC - overpen concerns.

Green tip doesn’t actually penetrate in real life armor wear or when the armor testing rig is set up properly. The armor needs to be worn up against something soft like a clay backed rig or something that mimics how the armor would actually be worn on a human. With the panels simply standing there with no real backing, it will allow rounds to penetrate that normally would not.
@@rifleshooterchannel208 I thought that made it easier to penetrate? Having it tight...? Whereas this was more loose which I understood or thought allows the vest to move, rather than be defeated so easily?
@@ShastaBean It needs to have some type of soft backing worn relatively snug against it. In real life the Kevlar doesn’t deform as much when worn up against the body and it allows the projectile to be stopped. I don’t know why someone might remember a near 20 year old antigun video, but way back when the FsN was touted as the “cop killer gun” by the Brady Campaign, they did a test where they threw a vest panel on a hay bale and punched every single round of SS197 through it. It was a completely dishonest test for propaganda purposes. Anyway, the same physics apply here or in any soft armor test.
Trying to find good ammo to EDC, but these seem to be slightly too much for the human body to stop overpenetrating. With that being said, having it as a secondary mag would be cool in case you REALLY need it, a vehicle door wont stop it. Cause if things are bad enough where you have to end up using a second mag, I don't care how extra pen it has, I am shooting
I’ve had those thoughts as well as being told this before. I may switch over to the FN green tip, but those penetrated the vest as well. Well the front side anyway.
Most 5.7x28 loads will under-penetrate in a body. Also most rounds will go right through a car door, that includes .22lr, so basing things off car door penetration isn’t really valid.
@@rifleshooterchannel208 you're entitled to your opinion. If I can stab a pencil through a car door, does it mean I only need to start carrying a pencil? No. Any bullet will go through someone depending on the components and where you shoot. It's the reliability. Use results and evidence instead of trying to sound smart. I had fun with this one, spent an arm and leg on those rounds ($150 for 25 rounds) at my local gun show, had to see if it was money well spent or money down the drain! They did exactly what they were supposed to do!
American eagle is the worst in this caliber. I use ss 195 for quick farmland stuff and they tumble and don't expand ss 195 or ss198 should pierce the fang should pierce as well . Good video

You illustrate a point that people still argue with online --- that to pierce the armor you need the specific type of ammunition in this caliber to do it (I'll refrain from using proper terms). Ok, but that brings up a point --- you can get the same style of ammo in other pistol calibers that will do the same thing. Of course this stuff has restrictions of various kinds so availability is limited. But the point is 5.7 is not special. There's 6.5x25 CBJ that was made as a PDW round. Ballistically it performed similarly to 5.56 out to 300 yards (albeit less energy), but it still penetrated armor at that distance. All in a cartridge that is no bigger than 9x19. If you ever plan on redoing this test, might I request you include a IIIa+ poly plate? I mention that because it's less than a full rifle plate, but still adds protection. A recently watched a video where a guy used it to show it would stop some 5.56 (i forget the specific round though).
1st and foremost, THANK YOU for taking the time out of your day to not only watch but comment as well, it’s greatly appreciated. Secondly, great comment! A lot of ppl think they can buy a 5.7 and grab range rounds and penetrate armor and that’s simply NOT the case. As seen here, range rounds nor the basic FN round (blue tip) will NOT penetrate. Because of the traction this video has gotten and still is, I may revisit this with all of the 5.7s available and see if that makes any difference either.

Correct. In this video we tried to place each bullet in different places, yes in the same vicinity because of course the water jug isn’t huge but definitely spots none the less. Thanks for taking the time out to watch and comment, it’s appreciated.

@@100RoundsTv You bet. Subbed!
Even if it's not AP, I still think 5.7 makes a lot of sense because of capacity. It's so thin that it fits double the amount as 9.
