Thank you for another enjoyable video, Doug. Part of the multi-pronged appeal of this channel is the Yorkshireness, and I'm pleased to say that I had this one down as Ripon from the thumbnail. The perspective gives the picture a strong horizontal thrust straight through the tops of the phone boxes and the eaves of the thingummy, so that might be why the vertical emphasis isn't as strong as expected. Not a problem in my opinion.

That's a very good point and we'll observed. I longer view with less perspective I'm would suit the experiment again. Good food for thought.

    Great picture and video!
A question (nowt to do with the video). What type of eraser do you use please? I paint on a heavy rough paper, and I seem to struggle rubbing out my pencil work after I’ve added the pen - there’s always a residue left behind!! Any ideas/suggestions would be welcome.

Very interesting.... what brush did you paint this with?

You can solve the issue with the paper quite easily. The problem you have is because of the "sizing" on the paper. All watercolour paper has sizing on it. Just brush over the paper with water before you begin. It's as simple as that. You don't have to soak the paper and stretch it, just wet the whole sheet with water from your brush, as if you were just painting an under wash. You can then work wet in wet, or just wait for it to dry, and it doesn't take long to dry as you are not soaking it. You will find the paint no longer has difficulty gliding. I do this with ALL watercolour paper. Try it and see if you can spot the difference.

Thanks for the info. Thanks for that. I find it varies hugely depending on the type of paper. I believe it is because some manufacturers mold in the sizing and for some its a coating. Most of the time with decent watercolour paper I find that it's not necessary to do anything. Thanks for taking time to comment.

Royal Talens started making paint 125 years ago!
I find the price/quality ratio in the Netherlands excellent, especialy with the large 20 ml tubes! Daniel Smith is rather expensive.
