❤This is so beautiful. And I agree about the sides, gorgeous in their own right! I'm also a big fan of layers, it adds so much depth. Thank you for the time and effort you put into sharing your process.
Guide please! You always give such great advice! Just watched the honest art podcast episode with you. If it weren’t for artists such as yourself and Jodie King (to name a couple), I probably would’ve given up on abstract art a while ago! Thanks for that!! 💜
Jodie is the best! Thanks so much for listening to the podcast interview. I really appreciate it! Hang in there and enjoy the process and learning journey you're on. Here's the link to the free guide: www.bettyfranksart.com/how-to-find-your-style I hope it helps you!! 🩵
I've bought a few on-line art courses over the years, but yours is by far the most practical and you are SO GENEROUS in what you share. I have learnt so much, especially about the limited palette. Eternally grateful!
I luv ur stuff - lol. It really helps to hear you talk about your process, sharing your thoughts as you go along. I def make the mistake of using too many colors. Like you, I LOVE colors! It does tend to make my works chaotic, so I will pay more attention to limiting my color palette... Back to basics! Thank you for this video, Betty. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 -- Oops, I did it again!
You're funny, Julia! Nothing wrong with loving all the colors! 😁 Try limiting your color choices to 3 (plus black & white) for a few exercises on paper (just have fun!). Then introduce one more color if you're feeling like it needs just a little more!
Heart heart heart. I make abstract art too, and i adore watching your process, its such a treasure to experience all the stages, to feel smth different about each of them, to be curious what u gonna put next, its all so emotional, and also just to see how another person with their own beautiful mind and view is doing it! 🫶 Very glad to find this chanel, for me its like sharing Life and wholesomeness.
Thank you for your kind words, Ana! I'm so glad you're here! I, too, love watching artists create. It's inspiring to see their steps and to learn about their journey. Thank you for sharing!
I like that idea of taking multi photos. I am new to painting and im a journaler. I can see the benefits of journaling about each step and with the small format printers they have now, I see this as a great way to learn. Once I get settled after my move, I will be taking a class from you! Always great ideas, Thanks Betty! ❤
Thank you so much, Betty! Good info and it’s fun to watch you work. Love all those yummy textures you end up with from all the layering, mark making, and scratching into the previous layers
Thankful for closed captions in "4 critical mistakes to avoid since the sound was not its usual quality. I tried other videos and there were fine so I knew it wasn’t my laptop. I appreciate your generosity of your knowledge and experience. Thank you!

My preference for the sides is because my eyes are not directed to 'things', just non-objective colour and whatever I, as the viewer, want to feel. My struggle is in creating strong design/composition without falling into the 'must have a focal point' trap. To express the concept without fully indicating the content? Your beautifully demonstrated style has helped in this quest, thank you Betty.

GUIDE please. I've been painting for almost 40 years. I've done both representational and abstract. I found that I prefer to paint abstract because there are more surprises in my process. Right now I'm kind of stuck, not sure what direction to go next. Your video was inspirational. Thanks!
❤ another joy to watch. Please tell me how your paints don't dry . Mine dry so quickly . I even wet a large sponge type palette paper under reg palette paper to try to keep my paint wet but not having much luck .Do you ever add water or medium to your paint brush?
Great question! I live in California. Our humidity levels are not very high. I have not had issues with paints drying out. Have you tried glazing medium? It will extend the dry time. Thanks so much for watching, Ilene!
