Nova paints should pay you for your videos. It’s so apparent how pigmented they are when I watch you cover other colors with just one pass. Love your paintings!
Wouldn't that be awesome! For now, I'm grateful to be an affiliate for them (for folks who buy through my link). Thank you, Valerie! I appreciate you being here!
Betty, these remind me in the middle stage of the first large painting I ever saw you do here years ago. I remember how shocked I was when I thought it was done, and you kept going, haha. Here at around 18 minutes, I would have stopped. But when I look at the end pieces, I now see why you continued. These past four years of watching you create, and also painting myself really helped me understand your artist's mind... Thank you!
Going this large without losing the quality of your smaller works isn't an easy task but your confidence that you can do it is inspiring. I deeply appreciate your comments about your process and thoughts. you are very generous in a way that is also inspiring and is such a relief from those who post a painting without any sort of explanation other than title and availability. Thank you, Betty.
You are so very welcome, Jo! I appreciate your kind words. Years ago, I was truly challenged with taking my small art and super sizing it. It has taken years of practice to feel confident (although, when I creating, I'm still searching for my confidence!). I always remind myself that each piece is a journey. I can't create it in one session. When I remind myself of that, then it seems a bit easier to take it one step at a time. Thanks so much for being here!
Betty, these are exquisite. You are a great colorist, ala Bonnard. Your dear client is going to feel such happiness each time he walks into his home. How perfect he found you right in his city. I get immense joy watching you at work (play). You make it looks so easy & yet, I know it is not.
I love your work. For me I like the two paintings at minute 13:00 of your video most. For me the work at this point was done. Fresh lovely living colors. Perfect ❤❤❤❤
Dear Betty, this is a honor for me watching you creating your beautiful art🙏 watching your video is a real pleasure, it give me joy and inspiration. Thank you for all your advice, help and creativity. You are a beautiful person that we find in your painting🙏 thank you again and take good care of you!✨🌸😘😘

This is what it's all about. Seeing these two magnificent pieces showcased in what is obviously an incredible home, especially against a monochromatic design aesthetic is PERFECTION. I can only imagine the impact when one steps into that grand entranceway!!! Congratulations on this incredible achievement!
Seasons greetings Ms Franks, happy holidays and here is wishing you a big successful 2025. I aspire to let go of the horizon, foreground, mid ground, and background , to be IN the field of flowers, not just looking at it. Which is why I emulate you. I am grateful for you.
These are superb, what amazing painting Betty. Your client is very lucky. I'm working through the mini course again so am in awe of your scale of working and how it all comes together in the end. Thank you for all the videos, it's always such a pleasure to watch you work.
Hubba hubba yowza! Stunning beauty for this client's home. Thank you Betty for all the candid tips as you go through this process. It really resonated with me when you said, you like to add subtle variations of hue within a large, plain area. Also, not making all 3 or 4 of a shape the exact same value/tone. Your work has evolved so seamlessly within your true style and your video/tutorials are so much appreciated.
Absolutely Stunning. I paused the video in the hall. When I look at these two wonderful masterpieces I start feeling calm. I can hear water purl and a concert of birds and insects. I never felt that way by looking at an abstract. Thank you so much for sharing this video.
Just loved watching your process and all the layering in your work. I'm glad you gave us a close up view too so we can see some of that layering detail, texture and color shifts. Love it! Extra bonus to see the finished pieces hanging on the wall they were intended for.
Love, love , love these, especially the one on the right. I am pinching my pennies to save up to commission two paintings from you for my dining room! Those walls are screaming out for two paintings by you!
I've watched quite a few of your videos amongst so many ofther artists. I also paint abstract, and I am loving this video very much right now. Thanks for sharing your process. Keep up the good work, and thanks!!!!!! Ex-Californian living in Portugal. "Kroyd"
Love your painting its so vibrant and mesmerising! How many layers do you paint till your painting is done. Wow your abstract painting turned out awesome simply love it ❤️
Hi Linda! I don't mix my paints with any mediums (except on a very rare occasion in the past, I have used glazing medium to extend the dry time and create transparency). Thanks so much for watching my videos!
I was worried about your dealing with that size…NO PROBLEM for you! The size & variations of your shapes and marks keeps the viewers interest, and the colors really harmonized. Hard to see on video but these seemed to have less busy details-larger single colored areas with less detail. Was that intentional from the inspiration pieces? Super job, BEAUTIFUL!❤
Good question, Sherrie! Because I had to supersize the pieces, I wanted to still have some areas that were quiet and calming. However, up close, there's still a lot of cool stuff happening. Thanks so much for watching!
I very rarely have that problem, Emily. I work quickly and I only put out how much I think I'll be using. I often add more paint as I go. Thanks so much for watching!
Hey Betty! So fun to see your finished pieces installed! Perfect space! I love the one one the right - I love fuchsia & all the colors with just a little white space. When you do your mark making, do you ever use both of your hands at the same time? And what's the most unconventional painting implement you've used to put paint to canvas?
Hi Koliti! Those are great questions! Sometimes in the early stages, I'll use both hands when making marks--but it's rare. And for the most unconventional painting implement, I would have to say....ugh, I can't think of anything. I'm sitting here trying to think of what I have on my table that I use. None of them seem unconventional. One thing I have used in the past (and would like to incorporate into my process again) is using a branch/stick to create marks. Thanks for asking!!
@@BettyFranksArt Hey Betty! Your process has really inspired me to paint my little kitchen area walls with fun abstract colors & shapes! A couple of tools I'm going to try is a silicone basting brush from the kitchen section and a notched spreader used for tile setting. I'm excited! Gonna check out your Nova paint bundle 😊
Thanks for your generous spirit in sharing your painting sessions. It looks like you use quite a small brush despite the size of the canvas. Do you ever use bigger ones ?
