The thing I absolutely love about you, Betty, is your total honesty in everything. You have zero ego and that makes you an incredibly special person, and an even more outstanding artist. Your videos are the best online, by a comfortable mile. Thanks for being uniquely you!
Betty, I've used the first few minutes of several of your vids to teach my seminarians -- by analogy -- how to begin composing a homily: "Just get rid of the white space! You can always edit!" :-)
Oh my goodness! This is the best compliment I have received! Thank you, Father, for sharing my beginning stages as an example to just get in there and do something! #grateful
Beautiful painting, lovely colors… I watch you paint 5 times a week, a few hours each time, the same ones over and over just because your colors relax me. Thank you for creating amazing abstract paintings. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much 😀! I'm so happy you're enjoying my videos and I really appreciate you watching them multiple times! If you're interested, you can watch my recent podcast interview here (it's on RUclips): ruclips.net/video/Aa7oMK2eCtk/видео.html Thanks again!
Hi Betty:) Ive been on a wonderful art journey this year...more like a homecoming of sorts.I was once a lover of art and a successful touring musician and I went through some things and ended up homeless and addicted to drugs...anyhow, Ive been sober five years now and Ive never been happier and Im enthused to be making art again, especially while healthy! I adore your art and listening to your voice is very soothing...thank you so much for your generosity and for all the love you put out. Its truly one of a kind! ❤❤❤❤ Sam
Hi Sam! Congratulations on being sober for 5 years! A huge accomplishment! I'm so happy you found me and my art here on RUclips. I hope you continue to watch my videos and enjoy the process of creating art. Wishing you all the best!!

You are super kind! I love that you're going to give abstract paintings a try. Just remember that it takes a lot of practice, so don't give up too soon. Thanks so much for watching!

I loved the middle painting with so many greens. It was lovely to me! Thanks for a great video. I set up my studio today just like this one. Now waiting for paints from Nova. I'm so happy because painting, colors and creativity is in my blood. I'm honestly not that good yet but I'm happier and that's a huge, huge pay off! Thanks again!

I kept expecting to see a touch of red, just to complement your greens and blues. You pulled it off without it tho, and I really learned a lot. As always I love your process, Betty.
Oh thank you, Patricia! I really stuck to a monochromatic color scheme for this one. It was different for me, but truthfully, I've been trying to do more like them! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much! I was trying to post weekly, but then my trip to Croatia came up and I couldn't get any more done before I left. And, at my parent's house in Croatia, the wifi isn't strong enough to upload new videos, so it'll have to wait until I return to California again to post new ones!
Another great video. It's funny; I was really digging it 30 min it & right then you said, "This isn't working for me." Just goes to show how different people see things. Just like everything you do, I love this one too.
Yes! We all see something different and want to express something from within. I wasn't feeling it, so I had to make a change. Thanks for watching, Tommy!
I've subscribed to your channel while ago but it was actually the very first time I've seen the whole video for more than an hour! And I have to admit that I DO REALLY LOVE THAT, I mean it ❤. It's very inspiring and I absolutely do agree with you that if someone see anything that takes an hour or so..., definitely it must worth it and it means that person is willing to learn or improve his/her artwork. Anyway I wanna thank you for doing this, because I know it must be so time consuming. Thanks a lot for sharing these fantastic videos with us for free ❤
I needed to see/hear this tonight. I’ve been working on an abstract that went from great, to I’m ready to trash it. Hopefully, your inspiration will rub off on me, as I try to fix it. Thank you for posting remedies to visual art problems! 🎨🦋
I have been watching many of your Videos of you painting Betty. They are so interesting and informative . With a Beautiful Result for each of your paintings. Love all the colour variations & tones you use. Thankyou for all your shared knowledge which is very important. Regards Wendy Ireland. 😍❤
Thank you so much for sharing this video ! I watched it until the end and it was great to see how you manage to create a beautiful artwork. I can related so much to your struggle and your creative process. I love painting abstract as well. It’s always an adventure.
Hi Betty, i am Anthony again just working on and maybe finish a painting. The thing I really enjoyed about your videos is you show your painting not working and you keep over painting. I do this but watching you has giving me more direction. I live in Sydney Australia and have really enjoyed your process ❤
Hi Anthony! I tend to keep on painting until I'm happy with the piece. The layers add so much more depth and interest to the painting. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for another fantastic video Betty. Loved watching you create again and your end result was fantastic. I also slowed it right down and it took me nearly three hours to watch but I loved every minute of it! Cheers, Deb T
Hi Betty, I just painted over a fail, that I almost kept alive, but I had to dig deep to bring myself to paint over it and by golly, it turned out to be one of my all time favorite paintings I've ever done (my opinion, anyway). I lost some of the organic looseness that you do so well, but I haven't mastered that yet. I'm just so happy I took the plunge and created something so beautiful I would never have brought to life had I not trusted my instincts. Love art for that, creating something beautiful out of the clear blue sky! I never really appreciated abstract until I fell in love with your work. Love your art so much!!! 😍
Wow Betty, this has to be one of my favorite pieces. I've seen all your videos many times but didn't remember this one. Lucky buyers, it's fabulous and the title suits it well. Well done my friend 😊
Love it! ❤️ I watched the 3 part video over the weekend about how you create a painting plus showing in those videos about color blending and I found it to extremely helpful. So if anyone out there is having trouble please take the time to watch them it helped me a lot.
Betty, I just LOVE it at 29 minutes! It reminds me of the scenes in Croatia you showed on IG. Landscape-y, which is unusual for you these days. Really loving that. Can you see what I mean? Upper left waters with waves, and a grayish rock, then that interesting foreground, almost sensing stairs going up to the church or something... 💖
Perhaps I was thinking about my upcoming trip! I created this one several weeks before heading to Croatia. I liked it at that stage, but I wasn't in love with it so I kept going!
Gorgeous! Stunning! Inspirational! Loved seeing how you pulled it all together and created a one of a kind masterpiece. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your creative process. You continue to inspire and encourage.
I started using the Nova Paints after asking you a year ago what you used. I love them, and now have them in my studio in Massachusetts and in my studio in Vero Beach, FL.
Hi Betty… again. I’m here at the end and I want to tell you I got all emotional here and there watching your process. Sometimes I loved what you did and then you would change what I loved. And then you would make it better for me… again😂✌🏼 Then I hated it at one moment BUT I refused to give up bc I trust your eye!! In the end it all made sense and I love your work of art🌷TY
Oh, I loved this! I just ordered 11 jars of Nova paint today! So excited! I’ve been painting a lot and can’t wait until I have some great colors to work with..wish I’d had the list before..but I did get some names watching a previous video.
Hi Betty. I use Nova and Liquitex colors only bc when I need only a couple of colors and a who lot it’s cheaper to buy one or 2 Liquitex tubes as opposed to paying the shipping for the Nova paints. Michael’s or Hobby Lobby are accessible to me. But if Nova’s shipping wasn’t an issue I’d use all Nova paints. I do love the high pigment load of Nova.
I use Nova Color because of you :)... I love them, the only thing is that they seem to dry much faster than other brands I've used. I closed the jars immediately after using. Not sure why is that. I'm in Florida.
Here's a link for a variety of products that will help make your paints last longer while your working on your paintings: www.google.com/search?q=extend+dry+time+for+acrylic+paints&oq=extend+dry+time+for+acrylic+paints&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i22i30l2j0i390i650l2.11225j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Thank you very much Betty, I really enjoyed watching you paint. I also very much appreciate the didactic spirit commenting on the process of the work. I put the canvas on an easel and I would like to put the canvas on the wall. Could you tell me how you hang it to work on the wall. Thank you very much for your dedication, I greatly admire your work. Kind regards, Ana
Thank you for your kind words, Ana! I have long (about 3") screws in the studs that stick out about a half inch. Then I just hang my canvas on them. I hope that works out well for you, too!
Hi Betty, this was really helpful for me. I buy bottles of Liquitex Gesso as well. I get them 2 at a time so I don't run out lol. Your artwork is lovely & distinctive in a very good way. Thank you for sharing your creative process with us.
I am really struggling with mixing the colors... I am not using the Nova color paints yet and I'm wondering if this could be part of my challenge? I have your Fields of Flower course and also the one with Suzanne Allard. I'm really enjoying learning to push outside of my comfort zone.... thank you for the beauty you share in your paintings and videos.
Hi Holly, I'm sorry about your struggles. Please email me at hello@bettyfranksart.com and I'll be happy to help you. Explain to me what paints you're using and more specifically your struggles. I'll do what I can to help you!
Hi Terry! I love using this one: arteza.com/dp/5-1x8-3-watercolor-book-pack-of-2?a_aid=Instagram-RinaPatelARTIST&a_bid=171b30ef&fbclid=IwAR2nIVgCaaRaJEJAl-aw9F9S9iaibVBlKiDS48-c0QGCztHAsvo8c8VTh4w
Hi Betty, I've been using Nova color paint for 2 years as per your suggestion. I love the intensity of the colors. One issue I've experienced is paint drying on the inside of the jars. I typically dip my brush directly into the jar versus putting the paint out on a palette. Is this contributing to my paint drying excessively on the inside of the jars? Appreciate if you could address this issue. Thanks Betty.
Hi Teri, Glad you're enjoying the paints! I'm guessing that you're leaving the tops off of the jars for extended periods of time, which would contribute to the sides drying out rapidly. Thanks so much for watching!
Betty, I am thinking you probably already named this painting but at about the 27 minute mark @27:00 , it looks like a park setting at the pool or lake. If you stopped here, you could call it a day at the pool.
Yes for sure! I can see how that would have been a perfect title! I liked the painting at that stage, but I wasn't in love with it. I had to keep going!
Hi Betty! I purchased your bundle from NOVA color; thank you for the suggestion and the grouping! Color theory and choice is challenging. As I watch your videos I see colors that I cannot seem to get!! Espcially your bright baby blue! Do you think that the computer changes the color some? I may be trying to acheive a color out of reach! I'm still trying tints and values to find something similar by using all the pure blues! Any help would be great! LOVE LOVE your work , your tutorials; took your class... it's really sending me on a journey! thanks!
Hi Kate! Thank you so much for purchasing the bundle! I think it all comes down to experimenting with mixing colors. I often can't recreate a color because I dip my brush in many colors (I don't wash out my brush very often). Keep on playing!
Trying your style. Needing to get motivated again. I’m doing 5x7 s to practice. Been using Nova for years. Similar palate. Thank you for the wonderful videos and your generosity about sharing your beautiful paintings. Do you have workshops?
I love hearing that, Julee! And, I just love working small. I'm in Croatia right now visiting my parents and I only work on 5x7 and 9x12. I'm glad you're enjoying my videos. Yes, I have both in-person and an online workshop.
Sounds like I took you on a fun and crazy rollercoaster ride! Glad you enjoyed it!!
I've also shared this video on my Pinterest page too and I suggested it to some of my artists friends too
That's awesome! Thank you!
Thank you so much, another beautiful masterpiece 🎈❤
You are super kind, Liz! Thanks so much for watching!
Hello beautiful it's my pleasure to meet you
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. I’m feeling inspired now and ready to try something new!
Yay! Always happy to hear that!
Yes l love your art ❤
Thank you so much!
Oh, I loved this! I just ordered 11 jars of Nova paint today! So excited! I’ve been painting a lot and can’t wait until I have some great colors to work with..wish I’d had the list before..but I did get some names watching a previous video.
You're going to love them, Anne! Have fun creating!
Totally understand! You gotta do what fits the creativity budget best!
Thanks to you Betty I paint with nova colors😎
Wonderful! I hope you're enjoying them as much as I do!
love your work, I will back tomorrow, thank you
Please do! Thanks, Jamie!
I use oil, but always love watching watching your work!! I too love the mark making in the beginning to warm up to the canvas.
Nice! We definitely have that in common, Melanie!
Thank you!! I love watching & listening to you❤️❤️
love it a lot..tks...🎉
Thank you!
You make look so easy.love it
Thank you so much! It's years of practice that makes it look easy. It was anything but easy in the beginning...and even now with some paintings!
Just discovered your channel and love it! Getting ready to binge-watch.....
Welcome aboard, Cate! Hope you're enjoying the videos! Thank you!
thank you, love your painting.
Thanks so much for watching, Jamie!
Kind regards,
Ana
Thank you for your kind words, Ana! I have long (about 3") screws in the studs that stick out about a half inch. Then I just hang my canvas on them. I hope that works out well for you, too!
So interesting to watch ur work ❤️
Thanks, Sandylee!
I ORDERED MY PAINTS! I ORDERED 20! yay. I'm so excited to use some quality paint!
So cool, Rachael! Christmas came early for you! Let me know how you like them!
Hi Betty, this was really helpful for me. I buy bottles of Liquitex Gesso as well. I get them 2 at a time so I don't run out lol. Your artwork is lovely & distinctive in a very good way. Thank you for sharing your creative process with us.
Thanks so much, Terry! Gotta love those Liquitex gesso bottles! Thanks so much for watching!
Excellent...❤
Thank you kindly!
Does your wall ever become a distraction to you. Love your work
I get that question often! The answer is no. I don't notice the way when I'm focused on the painting. Thanks for watching, Eloise!
Gorgeous. 🥰
Thanks so much, Stephanie!
Hi Betty, can you recommend a sketchbook good for painting in? Thank you!
Hi Terry! I love using this one: arteza.com/dp/5-1x8-3-watercolor-book-pack-of-2?a_aid=Instagram-RinaPatelARTIST&a_bid=171b30ef&fbclid=IwAR2nIVgCaaRaJEJAl-aw9F9S9iaibVBlKiDS48-c0QGCztHAsvo8c8VTh4w
Hi Betty,
I've been using Nova color paint for 2 years as per your suggestion.
Brilliant
You are super kind. Thanks, Sam!
Your flowers look like Sunflowers!
Sweet! Thank you Nita!
Oh, I wish my sharpie China marker would peel like yours did. Mine is all kinds of jacked up!
Takes practice peeling it!
I'm on my 4th layer of trying to fix a failure. Maybe the 5th layer will be it! 😄
I bet it will be! Thanks so much for watching, Kathleen!
Join my email list to be notified of my in-person workshops (I only send info about them to my list and they fill up fast): www.bettyfranksart.com/email-sign-up
Here's a link to my online workshop: www.bettyfranksart.com/online-workshops
I'm also planning to do another live online workshop later this year. The folks on my email list will be the first to get the details.
Thanks so much for following my art adventures!
