Some one has pointed out that my scarf that I'm wearing has a political conatation. I just wanted to say I had no idea that it did and wouldn't have worn any garment like that if I'd known. I just like wearing it and it's colour. I apologise if any offense was caused by this and just I'm sorry I am so ignorant of the symbolism. I am not in any way trying to imply any political statement. Doug xx
Frankly those black & white scarfs are like the white t-shirts of the US. Everyone has one. They don’t belong to any group in particular. But, you know, some folks …. don’t want to offend.
I’ve just gotten back into drawing and painting after many years, I’m 60 and used to really enjoying sketching and painting when I was younger. Found your channel after searching for ideas and you have inspired me to give it another go. I’ve subbed and I’m going to binge watch your videos lol.
You make me smile and that’s a very good thing as I get bogged down in taking myself too seriously when doing art and as a result never satisfied. Your drawing and painting style brings a lightness and fun that I really need to embrace. As an ex-pat even your accent makes me feel at home. Cheers
Thanks for the video! That was very helpful for me. I'm still in the baby stages of drawing, so to speak, and am happy for any tips. I've only just discovered your channel and am already looking forward to your other videos. Best wishes from Germany
I struggled with some of those in the drawing I made testing the inks that I made, as you saw in my video. :) And by the way, loved your cell phone stand! I might borrow that idea as well, if you don't mind!
Hi Doug, love the scarf,I had one back in the 80s,black and white with tassels..wore it because I loved it,innocent fashion statement, although everything is heightened now politically,I think you should wear it if you want to…maybe get a tartan Tam O Shanter once the weather starts turning!😀Top tips on short cut sketching..less is more!Loved the tree..really helpful for me!Thanks for sharing!❤
@@dougjacksonartI had heard this about apply. I’ll be damned if I’m doing that! You’re not their slave! What’s another method you can accept. We have Zelle bank to bank payments in the US. Is that possible?
If you like your scarf, then wear it. Ignore the pretensions of the serially offended. Virtue signalling idiots who crave being noticed and wouldn't dream of going within a hundred miles of the Eastern Mediterranean. This is a channel for artists, leave your sectarian conflicts out of it. Love your art Doug.
Ha! This happens when I watch several RUclips videos back to back over breakfast. Was mentoring be a comment on GaryEats where he was reviewing a pretty poor curry. Sorry Doug.
Thanks for the great video. As for the scarf, don't bother. If you like to wear it, wear it. The scarf was pupuar in the end '70s and beginning '80s. It was also part of our punk and new wave outfit. Next time people may object to your T-shirt, or the color of your eye... People have become too sensitive. Everything is not okay if it does not stroke with their ideas... and imaginations. Let's just draw and enjoy what we are doing. ✍🏼
@@dougjacksonart Yes, I understood you, and of course, it would not do to consciously upsetting people. The problem is that these days everything is politicized. Actually, it is interesting to learn more about the history of the keffiyeh, as the scarf is actually called. It has a very long cultural history. Anyway, let's go back to drawing. 😀
I was happy to See you wearing this scarf, but it’s a big big disappointment to Read you APOLOGIZING for wearing a symbol against genocide!! Free palestine!!! 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

You do not need to apologize for wearing a Kuffiya.. those who object are misinformed. Wearing it shows your support to Humanity and the end of Genocide in the Holy Land known as Palestine. Thank you ❤✌🏼🍉. Now back to Illustration ❤

Some people go out of their way to be offended, it’s a recreational sport at this point.

The kufiya looks very nice on you, Doug! Love it. Plus, it's an honor for a human to to stand by the oppressed brothers and sisters in humanity.
Could not care less what you’re wearing (as long as it’s something🤪), just love your videos and your relaxed style. Keep up the great work!
Love your drawing tips. It's great to have some shortcut methods to get the drawing done without twiddling around too much. Keep up the good work. 🤩

Thanks Beverly. Glad I havnt offended everyone. 🤣
Great video as usual. Saw that patreon is now taking 20% of content creator payments. Is this true?
Apple is doing something weird with a 30% .... I'm looking into it so. But essentially it's another example of corporate bullying 🙄

In the visual world symbolism matters. Why else are branding symbols soo key to human communication?
I agree but also thought of offending even a couple of people just makes me sad. I genuinely wasn't aware. No matter...onwards!!
Very true

I’m pleased I read your comment / apology about the scarf. Thank you. I will continue enjoying your work.

If that is a Palestinian scarf you are wearing, I strongly object. Art is non-political.
