This show brings back memories of my youth. I loved it then and just as much now.

I watched these shows over and over and over again and never got bored ...I love these shows.... They never got old....old is gold
I think that this was the funniest Amos N' Andy show that I have yet seen. Undertaker and lawyer---a man of many talents is A. J. Calhoun.
This is sooooooo good! One of my favourite episodes.
"Well, welcome to the ranks of the living dead". 🤣🤣🤣 HILARIOUS Episode 💥 ❤ Thanks Reelblack!
Always looked forward to this show growing up, they always made you smile and laugh, my Mom and Dad always loved it to😊😊
This was a laugh a minute for me!
I love the Amos and Andy show back in the old days 1950 ,s and here it's 2021 I still love the Amos and Andy show!
Another great episode!!
Rolly from Amen he was young playing in this show. He's been in entertainment for a long time. This is such a treat for me I cherish these old pictures it gives me a clear look in to the history of entertainment and our Black entertainers 👍💪💯🥰👌⭐😎
The dialigue was superb done by the excellent writers, I am sure. As many A&A shows as I have seen this was the first time for this episode. My eyes are still wet from laughing so much. Hope it plays again.
Which episode r u referring to?
@@deborahsimmons3370 I think the commenter was talking about, “The Young Girl’s Mother.” At least that’s where this comment comes in.
Real late weighing in, grew up listening to them the radio, and later on television
Great stuff old school er thank Amos and Andy much
I think this is the best A n' A I've ever seen. Great upload; thanks!
Good Clean Comedy..I Love it.. and I'm a Young Man..
Real talent to write good clean.
@@phylis3917 Yes, when they had censors that censored a lot of stuff other than a few choice words which, in my opinion, are no worse than the general content, plot and innuendos in many shows of the last 20 plus years.
Greatest comedy ever made
That is something that will never change.Middle age crazy will always be a thing we all go through....
Thank you for posting this delightful classic. It was one of the funniest episodes of the series. For a change, Spencer got a chance to show off his talents. It's a shame that Lillian Randolph and Millie Bruce, the ladies who played Madame Queen and Brenda, went uncredited at the end. I've heard that if the actors receive a mention in the credits, they're paid more the union scale. The ladies more than earned their money with their fine performances.
Misogynistic, those ladies should've been in the credits, smdh.
One of the best show’s to every be on tv
I remember when my parents introduced me to this show when I was young. I laughed as hard as they did! And when my parents when to the television museum in NYC, they played Amos n Andy and laughed so hard and loud, they got other patrons to watch with them. Such a great show and I am glad they went with Black actors portraying the best in Black people and not making them act like fools. A great show!!! And this is one of my favorite episodes.
Best show on tv
Brilliant !!!
Love this ,Make me smile
Reelblack is such a great channel. Thanks for putting old stuff out there.
Please tell me Why such a great show was taken off the air.....fun, clean and really true entertainment....soooo happy 😊 to see it again....Love it!
Thank for the post and the laughs 😂
The NAACP had the show taken off.
RACISM ! It was one of the very first surrenders to the NAACP . It's never stopped since , RACISM is used for everything now .
@@timothyantoine5321 The NAACP did not think their decision to ban this show through , as did not consider or provide a viable solution for the star’s livelihood. No option whereby they could still be paid , eat, pay rent, etc. These needs should trump any image concerns blk or white people had about our race .
@@deborahsimmons3370 Iam old enough to remember this show as a child , I personally never associated it with a poor image of black people , it was humour . The Character that Tim Moore played the Kingfish was the one that made the show . Amos the Taxi Driver was smart , polite and his narration of everything was articulate and informed . I thought his Character overall put a favourable light on a Black Man . Andy seemed a little slow compared to Kingfish , but was always patient and polite and a Gentlemen . He also appeared as someone you wouldn't want to anger . Those were the impressions I got as a child growing up . Growing up I was a Cleveland Browns fan and listened to games on the Radio when Jimmy Brown was a Rookie . The announcers call of the game I could see him running down the field . He was my hero , I didn't know he was a Blackman , nor would have I cared . I guess the loss of child like innocence is what bothers me most .
@@deborahsimmons3370 It wasn't any worse than some of the other shows on tv like Sanford and son, Fresh Prince of Bel Air etc.
there's no profanity, no violence, no nudity , no murders etc. Only good wholesome humor.
"I don't recognize the voice but the snarl is familiar." "Somebody must have been hunting in the jungle. There is picture of a rhinoceros on the piano there." Trivia: Millie Bruce (Brenda) was married to boxer Sugar Ray Robinson.
What great characters.
Love Amos N Andy, they always bring a smile to my face.
great actors
Hi, my mom was in the Radio Version of this episode. Norma Green, my father played Stonewall the lawyer in the Radio Show, Eddie Green.
Eddie Green also appeared on a radio show with Louis Armstrong in the 1930s.

Too cool !
Fascinating stuff! Thanks for sharing that little nugget with us ☺️
Love this show
Calhoun ❤️
I love the Amos And Andy Show! It's a shame that our own ( NAACP) black people had this show taken off the air back in the 1950's😢
I believe this show could have gone on for another couple of years. Hattie McDaniel said it is better to play the role of a maid for 700 dollars a week than be one of 40 dollars a week. All of the actors in this show were so talented and many educated. Jester Hairston, who played Henry Van Porter and as Leroy, was a graduate of the Juliard School of Music in New York. These people were talented! What was the difference between Sanford and Son and Amos n Andy and even Good Times? This was clean comedy that showed Blacks as doctors, lawyers, judges, policemen and other professionals. The NAACP screwed it up for these fine actors and possibly other shows waiting in the wings with a Black cast. Hattie McDaniel was right and I would have loved to have met these folks.
ABSOLUTELY !!!!! Good actors enjoy their work. They ALSO earn a VERY NICE INCOME. When the weekly series was cancelled by TBS, (TURNER BROADCASTING CORP. ) All the performers LOST THEIR EXPECTED long term income.
What happened to them hurts so much! Wish they could have received some measure of compensation.
I agree that it was a clean funny show but NOBODY sees a problem with the Minstell-ness of Andy being in Black face make up as an issue? What was the purpose of that?
I know! Nowadays it's black this, white that, Mexican this, Japanese that etc!
Elva: what wonderful memories and family you must have. ❤
I do!
I grew up in a generation that heard nothing but negative things about this show as far as how it portrayed black people. Now that I've watched it as an older mature black man I think that the bad rap that its gotten is absolutely unwarranted!! I also think its VERY disrespectful to the black actors that paved the way to label this show anything other than "SIGNIFICANT." This is really brilliant comedy. Brilliantly written and brilliantly played out by the actors. It aligned with the times. Its waaaaaay funnier than the majority of the comedy that is on today. This show is funny as hell aside from all the controversy.
It is amazing how blind cancel culture really is. Every generation has it's cancel culture. The loud minority is always a mob mentality. Unfortunately they dohsrm generation after generation. Political correctnes and social correctness.
Look what has happened to America today.
The boulies(uppity negroes)of the naacp got this GOAT sitcom canceled.
I love these so much ! So underrated. Wish these stars had gotten their due that they so richly deserved. All of them were phenomenal.
I agree but remember attitude of people back then.
@@bigjoe2458 plz elaborate on what u mean here.
@@deborahsimmons3370 Maybe I didn't explain myself well enough. sorry. I just meant that this program was aired in late 50's and 60's. Many people had a very different attitude back then of black people. to SOME white people it gave an impression of black people as lazy, ignorant, stupid etc. I do not mean to be insulting. that is not the attitude of decent people now. The program was very funny then and to me it is still very funny. as I said earlier , no violence, no profanity, no nudity, In my opinion the program is much better than new programs on the aire now. I wish a similar program could be resurrected again.
@@bigjoe2458 Thanks, u r right abt that. I do see where that was the case esp due to Kingfish not working regularly, even Andy not working either. How did Andy make a living? Kingfish at least had his wife who worked from time to time.
@@bigjoe2458 I always saw Amos as the voice of reason.
This show is 😃 😄 😁 hilarious!
So many people are color struck nowadays!
This should be 1million+views cuzz-
This episode had me on the floor! LMAO!!!
Newer seen so beautiful and human comedy. Excellent. !!!
I remember enjoying this particular episode with my mother and aunt. A tad risque for 1950s standards.
I was familiar with most of the Amos n Andy episodes from seeing them when I was a kid, but this one was new to me.
Some of the dialog about women in this episode was brutal, but comical, too.
The comedy still holds up well.
My favorite episode. That telephone's s dangerous instrument still! RIP Tim Moore and the rest of the cast.
The late Tim Moore was the first man to wear a dress as a comic skit before "Flip Wilson", Martin Lawrence, and Jamie Foxx!
And Tyler Perry
Bored or depressed? Watch it! It’s therapeutic!😅 It’s just that good. Got better the more sophisticated the longer the series ran. Excellent.
Andy always appeared to be a slow thinking yet very polite and proper man . The King Fish was always trying to out smart and take advantage of Andy . But it always backfired !
I see Rollie Forbes from "Amen" and "That's My Mama"!
Earnestine Wade from "That's My Mama"!
Ms. Rudolph from "What's Happening"
Amos played on
Good Times
Sanford And Son
The Jefferson's.
Andy Brown reminds me of Windel Pierce🤣
did Amos play Reverand Tremble on Sanford and Son?
@@rtg4522 yes and he played the reverend on good times when James dragged him in from the door about that money he found🤣. He also played mother Jefferson's boyfriend one episode of the Jefferson's.
Very funny ! A great show & series. RIP to our fine American Actors
Of all the characters, my favorite was Algonquin J. Calhoun Esq. (Johnnie Lee) . He was too much. Of course they all were great.
Black Cinema Classic,
I was just a little kid back in the 50s but let me tell you I had a crush on Safa. I thought she was beautiful and still do.
I agree- she is also a really good actor/actress. Like her voice also- especially when sapphire is upset!!
They were years before there time. The Amos and Andy show was priceless. A true classic it’s a shame that Bill Cosby bought up the syndication. He said it portrayed black people in a bad light.
He was the bad light in the end I guess. If you didn’t love them there was something wrong with you.
Lilian Randolph who played madame queen was the younger sister of Amanda Randolph the woman who played sapphires mom & she was also the voice of mammy two shoes on Tom & Jerry.
I was wondering if it was the same woman. Thanks for clarifying this for me.
Did this episode come before or after the one andy tried to marry madame queen when she became a singer?
The young girl became the wife of Sugar Ray Robinson , the great boxer . The young girls mother , Madam Queen , was played by Lilian Randolph . A much better looking woman and a much better actress than her sister Amanda Randolph who played Kingfish's mother in law .
Wow! Did not know that. Thanks
Why wasn't this show called Kingfish and Andy?...i almost didn't know Who Amos Was until my 4th episode
I was thinking the same thing , Kingfish was the real star of the show. However, all of them were phenomenal . I especially loved Calhoun too. He was so unique! with such a range of talent not usually seen.
I do remember madam queen
Amos was a main character in the show's early years, then the popularity of The Kingfish caused Amos to be regualted in the background by the time of the TV show in 1951.
When the show came out on radio in 1928, the only two characters were Amos and Andy. Later, Amos got married so he couldn’t be around so much, and the Kingfish was introduced. They never changed the title because over 40 million radio fans were familiar with “Amos and Andy” as the name of the show.
Relegated
brilliant and Super Funny
Queen played on Sanford and son.
A movie you might want to consider posting is The Trouble With Girls (1969). One of the main characters is Black. :)
Wow Rolly from Amen
I feel like watching a few people of color movies that they seem to cast paler versions of people of color as the female characters
Runaway best comedy show on T.V.
Jester Hairston
Referred to as high yellow.
AMOS AND ANDY was a great show with a cast of seasoned and overachieving performers. It sickened me to see their work trashed by race-obsessed noisemakers.
