The actress friend of Sapphire’s is Dorothy Dandridge’s mother, Ruby Dandridge. She was a prolific actress and was a regular on the “Beulah” TV show, with Academy Award winner, Hattie McDaniel.
My parents and brother and sisters watched the show together. Kingfish always made us laugh. A great show.
I wish shows like this would come back! Great stuff!!
Sounds like a wonderful Play that Chickens Come Home to Roost.
Amos and Andy
I love watching every episode that I can find.
Keep these coming.
❤️❤️
Arouster if I ever saw one
Was some of the finest Radio then TV ever
Clean humor and lessons on human nature
What a hilarious dig on banking in general. This was very well written.
Tim Moore, and Ernestine Wade were the true stars of this show. Used to watch it every afternoon with my dad when he came in from work. He laughed as hard as I did. Those were good times.
The really funniest is either Calhoun or Lightnin.
The honorable Algonquin J Calhoun!
They were all great 😊
My Grandma had me watching these with her years ago.
I watched this with my great grandmother when I was six years old. Roasted pnuts and Coca-Cola
LOL what a great show, no profanity just good old fashioned buffoonery by a great talented cast. I love Amos and Andy.
John you are so right! I am not embarrassed to watch it with my family.

This was a well written episode
This is an episode I cannot remember ever seeing. I had 49 episodes on VHS that I carefully collected but this episode is a wonderful new surprise.
78 episodes were produced (the last 26 were originally syndicated from 1953 through 1955).
WIKI mentions the number of episodes.
What's "VHS"?🤣😂
Pure classic!6
Great old show!
Who the Kingfish? Lol. He was the greatest. Pioneer
May your days be filled with love, peace and prosperity, God bless 💯🙏🏽💚

At the risk of beating a dead horse…. Auhhhh….Who da Kingfish?
Kingfish sporting a drop-top fade haircut. 😅😅
Clean comedy - no profanity, porn references, or violence. Respect for marriage and women. Clever dialogue - always well dressed. Those who complain should look at themselves. This series was as good as I Love Lucy.
It takes less than 60 seconds to get totally engrossed in these episodes. And all of them have a life message in them
The woman who pretended to be the wife of Amnesia Kingfish was Ruby Dandridge , Dorothy Dandridge’s mother
love to the show talent and good souls comedy.. interesting show
Imaginative writing & terrific acting = hilarious comedy.
This was absolutely the best comedy show ever. It beats out Abbott and Costello and the 3 Stooges.
I wouldn't necessarily agrees with dat. No Sir.
Anita, I agree wichoo

They who laugh longest win. :)
I don't know about being the best but definitely in the top 10 of all time.
You're right.
This is my favorite Amos and Andy episode!
The greatest show ever..
They don’t make them like this no more 😞
Andy got his $50.00 back and Kingfish conned him out of it again Andy was a big dummy 🤣
Almost every episode was a variation of "How will the Kingfish put one over on Andy *this* time?"
Ernestine was a true talent and I wish the studios picked her up for more roles. Being it was the mid 50s, what racism in media did is deny us really good entertainment.
The scenes Ernestine was in were pure delights to view; especially when she would turn from being joyful to hostile on a dime, with that hostility directed at the Kingfish.
That face he makes everytime he says
".... who the kingfish??" always gets me!
The mama is one tuff cookie.
Yes. Love This
Thank you, "Nupitualated" :)
Best sit-com ever
Definitely in the all time top 10👍
This is a syndicated episode, seen at various times on local stations in February 1955 [WCBS-TV in New York initially scheduled it as late as October 1955].
Right. Because Amos ‘n Andy premiered September, 1951 and only two seasons.
Two seasons on the network {52 episodes}, and two in syndication {26 episodes}.
The last two or three original episodes were broadcast in 1955, two years after the NAACP demanded that the show be cancelled.
What happend was, after the NAACP convinced Blatz Beer to end their sponsorship of the series in June 1953 (after two seasons), CBS pulled "THE AMOS 'N' ANDY SHOW" from their schedule. However, only 52 episodes had been produced up to that point. They wanted to add more episodes to make it profitable in syndication, so they produced 26 additional episodes for first-run syndication from 1953 through '55 [13 apiece, over two seasons; the last 13 were intended to be titled "THE ADVENTURES OF THE KINGFISH", as Tim Moore had become the de facto star of the series, but that idea was scrapped]. CBS Films then syndicated all 78 episodes over the next decade- and it was one of the most widely distributed off-network series......until new protests began in the early 1960's. Finally, in 1966, CBS decided to permanently withdraw "THE AMOS 'N' ANDY SHOW" from distribution- and it hasn't been seen on any local stations since.
Very funny ! Good for Sapphire and Andy ! Thanks for sharing !
Same thing brother Malcolm said about the chickens
What's television? That's radio with talking pictures, hilarious without every punchline or laugh line being some type of sexual innuendo, political gimmick, just plain simple comedy that's actually tickles your ribs.
Great-, Great’!
Dorothy Dandridge's mother is playing Tom Smith long lost wife.
Whoda Kingfish? 🤣
Excellent show all around.
Being done in black and white makes it much better.
So good.
John Witherspoon reminded me of kingfish
Red fox patterned his character Fred Sanford after the character King Fish.
What a handsome man @ 9:43
The Kingfisher might have thought he had his wife Sapphire and his mother-in-law snookered with that bullshit story of him being in the 135th Battalion, until she got that telephone call from the local newspaper reporter. And he was wearing a uniform with a ton of decorations and medals. That would be seen as stolen valor today. Anyway, the roof caved in on the Kingfisher. Cute episode, leagues ahead of the black comedy films of today,
One of our favorites.
Every 🌃 night funny
Love it
🎉The storyline of this episode contradicts the fact that Kingfish and Andy grew up together in Marietta, Georgia.
Who'da Kingfish???
Wouldn't it be wonderful to go back to these times. They were happy then.
Sure, for us white people...
I grew up back then and no way do I want to go back to NO AIR CONDITIONING 😮
Classic clean comedy.
Who'da Kingfish. I'm thinking about changing my name to WHODA KINGFISH.......
Yes 🥰 I that show
What a beautiful show and such talented actors. Sadly, because of the two-bit, race-baiting idiots at the NAACP, this show was forceably cancelled because they claimed it depicted blacks as crooks and lazy and didn't represent their real advancements and achievements. If they (NAACP) bothered watching the show, they would have seen that blacks in this show were often represented by professionals such as government employees, doctors, lawyers, judges, police, secretaries, business owners, military, and teachers and utility workers without a scrap of disrespect or racism. The only characters that were crooked/lazy was Kingfish, but ALL sitcoms had such characters! Archie Bunker was depicted as an ignorant bigot, yet he was the centerpiece of "All in the Family". Fred Sanford was cast as a wisecracking junk store owner in "Sanford & Son" but he was the centerpiece. Ralph Cramden of "The Honeymooners" was cast as a complete idiot, but he was the main character. Because of the NAACP, the fine actors of "Amos and Andy" lost their lucrative careers and futures in acting and stage and were never able to regain it - many dying as unknowns in Hollywood. Thanks NAACP. You are the REAL racists. You RUINED the hard work of these wonderful people and stopped their art in its tracks. You stopped them, destroyed their potential and kept them from being successful. 😡
I endorse this message!
THESE SHOWS OUGHT TO BE RESTORED AND PUT ON BLURAY DISCS.
A favorite of brother’s.
Who da kingfish?
Some have called these racist but Sanford and Son was less flattering toward blacks
My brother’s favorite.
I know, I was a little girl! What year was this out?
1955 is in the title
Sapphire fine
Yes she is
Kingfish full of shi&😂
Yeah and he's hilarious 😅

AMOS AND ANDY was a great show with a cast of seasoned and overachieving performers. It sickened me to see their work trashed by race-obsessed noisemakers.
It is a great show. I get so tired of people talking about race all the time.
Flint Knudsen: Race is a fallacy, but it is about respect for African American “culture.”
