Beautiful boat! And yeah, it is definitely becoming apparent that at least for liveaboards, having the saloon act as more of a living room area, rather than playing double duty as a dining room as well is pretty successful. Sometimes you just want somewhere to sit and lounge that isn't at a table.
May Ona bring many years of excellent sailing!

Another great video Rob! Ona is absolutely gorgeous and the white powder coating on the cockpit stainless is a perfect subtle touch. Well done indeed Privilege.

I love the powder coat. It is a great design statement and probably is cooler in the sun than polished stainless. The lack of a salon table should be more widely adopted because of the table on the stern.

I love everything about Privilege Yachts. Ona is just beautiful. The powder coating is a nice surprise and looks amazing. Great job on the tour Rob!

I love that helm design. I hate flybridges so I would love if more larger catamarans used this design.

I liked the design but it seems weird that they chose to enclose everything but a narrow strip. Why not just have a full frontal enclosure?

I am 90% a monohull kind of guy, mostly because that is the kind of boat with which I am most familiar. Although, I did own a Hobie cat 16 that I adored for pure speed and fun. Also, I am not at all fond of blond wood on any sailboat. No matter how well done the joinery, it still looks like a cheap motel to me. But, that is strictly a matter of style and taste. That being said, I really like and appreciate this cat. The exterior is elegant, functional and well thought out as far as I can tell. Outstanding and major kudos for the hard topped enclosed helm station. EVERY sailboat should have a hard bimini and dodger to protect and provide a comfortable position for the helmsperson so he or she can concentrate on steering the boat and not be distracted by soaking wind water, spray and the need to hold on in rough conditions. Anything less is dangerous, which means stupid. Privilege did a great job. Rounded corners on the counter tops, excellent! Very functional U shaped galley, excellent again! The engine rooms look roomy accessible and well laid out, so another "excellent" awarded. However, of some concern is the positioning of the nav station. I do not mind that it is aft facing, but I do have concern that there is no seating and that it is closely adjacent to the port(?) hull companionway. What is that, a six or seven foot tumble down the stairs if you unthinkingly lunge for the sliding coffee cup or rolling pencil on the desk top directly above the abyss? That is a bone breaking accident waiting to happen. I suggest repositioning it, looking forward, up next to the galley and narrower. It does not need to be that wide. You can cut into some of the lounging space. After all the people steering the boat so it doesn't run into stuff or turn upside down and the people navigating the boat so you can arrive at your destination (and not run into stuff) are more important than being able to lounge around and quaff beverages. I would really have liked more time on the standing and running rigging, controls and accommodations, rather than the dolphins, but I am certain they were excellent also.

RobI don't want to be a buzz kill, but you could have at least caught the broken champagne glass before it went in to the water!! I know it is not a lot but but every bit counts!!
Don't get me wrong, I love your vids, but please see if you can fix this for the next ship christening.. Thx

The bad thing about Privilege sail boats is the Nav Station facing aft...why can't they face forward...but anyways the boat still awesome.

It seems that the water maker's control panel is located in the engine room. Why ? Shouldn't it be located somewhere more reachable ?

    • @PrivilegeCatamaransAmerica

Of course! There are controls on the inside by the chart table for remote use of the water maker.

As an ex ships engineer I love the attention to detail in the engine room. My only thought is that I've seen a number of catamarans with damaged sugar scoops that flooded the engine compartment, is there anything to reduce the additional damage to ancillary equipment in the engine compartments?

Did you previously own an Antares 44? Can you share with us your thoughts about the new Privilege as compared to the Antares? It is obvious that the Privilege is a larger catamaran. Can you comment about the construction? mechanical? sailing characteristics?

All the 510s have the galley up layout with an additional large pantry and separate fridge/freezer in the port hull corridor.

I'm sure there's some sort of tradition of launching a new boat - breaking the bottle on the bow and stuff, but somebody should have thought ahead to all that broken glass in the water. Just saying..

To everyone ganging up here, just get a nylon pantyhose or stocking to put the bottle in before smashing. I could care less about the glass breaking, I just don’t want some hull scraper getting cut down the road.
