BOAT TOUR: PRIVILEGE 435

- Опубликовано: 4 фев 2025
- For some mid-week extra content we film a boat tour on a beautiful Privilege 435, David the owner shows you around his vessel that he restored from a very worn down ex charter vessel to the magnificent boat it is today. Some unique features it processes is a safe room, bullet proof door and full vessel security system. The extent of the restoration is quite substantial and we see the before and afters of how far this ex charter has come. It really gives us a new insight into what can be brought back to life and a very different avenue to the normal purchasing of intact vessels.

Wow, now that's a Privilege. Phenomenal craftsmanship.
He’s done wonders!
He's done a great job restoring that boat. I really like how he did the galley down and kept it feeling open ⛵
Kelly you are spot on mate. He’s done a marvellous job!
Real nice, the is what you get when an artist, craftsman and policeman make a boat 😎
Haha spot on! The best coming out of the police background
that is one crafty policeman, respect to the guy ! perfect looking yacht !
Right! He did an amazing job
What amazing craftsmanship. Wow. I can’t imagine how many hours he must have put in to that. Beautiful.
10 years of hours I do believe haha. Thanks for the nice words
@@SailingMerewether Wow, that is a big commitment, but he had a retirement plan already worked out in his head.
@@SailingMerewether Would you ever sell this beauty?
Wow, that is beautiful work! Great eye for design and decorating. I’m sure he is very proud of it. Thank you for sharing.
He has done a complete master piece on this one. Thanks for the nice words 🙌🏼
@@SailingMerewether hi crew. Wow. That's a tidy little ship eh.? Nice vid work too. Thankyou for that. Atb.
@@SailingMerewether I bet it's an honor don't believe you actually did it yourself. You must be proud. That was our old joke in the Marine industry holder said I did it myself. I bet you did. The honor is when they don't believe you did it yourself
Beautiful job well done! Man is an artist. Enjoying the yacht tours.
Cheers for the nice words. I’ll try keep them coming
What an amazing craftsman. Totally enjoyed that. Thank you.
Thanks for the nice words!
Damn !!!! That guy turned that into a piece of art work..., excellent craftsmanship !!!
Outstanding work !!!!!!! The Woodwork was Beautiful....Nice Video footage as well. Well done.
Thanks!
BTW, from a 1st Cav guy, thanks for your service.
Boom! this is most impressive. Wow! A dream come true. The fact this was built by owner makes this unique. Well done!
It’s a beauty
What an utterly beautiful boat. Very well done, David.
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, well done tour as it provided a number of things: how a beaten down used boat can be restored/improved upon and what novel features can be made. The hardshell lazy jack idea is brilliant for the mainsail. The custom nav station looks sophisticated. The dagger boards make this boat a performance cruiser and the loss of internal space did not seem too intrusive. David’s furniture-making skills are exemplary. Beautiful boat. I would like to know much more about David’s ideas and of his boat.
Wow , dude is all up in it
Absolutely beautiful job restoring this boat.
Nice words Sharon, thanks
I think that it was more than a restoration as it was a re-envisioning and improvement over the original design.
Great job on the video and what great vision from the owner to build what he needed and think outside the box .
That was a beautiful boat. Thanks for the tour.😀
Was a pleasure to make it! Glad you liked it
Love the before and after pics. Let's you see what is possible to do with older or damaged boats.
This is the first cat that I have seen that I liked the interior.
George a master piece that feels more like a living room of a house than a boat
Beautiful refit. That is a massive improvement with everything one could want. Great video 👍
He’s made it into a master piece
Very talented bloke
Thank you so much for this video. Loved the micro lesson on inlay. More, more, more of building cats!! Planning to build later 48'.
Much respect to David. Fairwinds.
He knows what he’s doing that’s for sure!
Wow beautiful boat, nice job !
Lovely boat! What a nice walk thru
Amazing!
And now the boat is for sale. Fantastic!
Awesome 👍
This guy rocked this overhaul. This video is one of the best walkthroughs I’ve seen. Well done.
Jeseees Jeremy you got some nice words mate. Thanks 🙌🏼

@@SailingMerewether You are very welcome 🙏🏻
Great tour of a fantastic catamaran.
Cheers Glen
You guys do great youtube...it fills our Sunday. Does this guy have a youtube channel that you did video on?
Nice job. Beautiful boat and well done presentation.
Wow! What an amazing sail!!! Hope one day I can ride on of that... i’m a Filipino here, my wife and I had a boat tour in Chicago for the very first time, i just posted our vlog too though this one is far better... we love it!
Awesome warren! I’ll go and check it out 🙌🏼
Wonderful job, lots of skilled knowledge. Awesome
Amazing and thoughtful work!!
Cheers Mr Reef
Loving the boat tours you need to find another one to do.
Magnifique travail!
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Nice job David, I especially like the table
Beautiful boat! Bring on more similar videos to help those of us in planning stages!
I’m trying to find as many unique boats as I can to get these boat tours out. Appreciate the nice words 🙌🏼
Beautiful
Thanks! 🙌🏼
Awesome job! The hard main sail cover Lazyjacks is a brilliant idea!💡 The instantaneous gas hot water is good, if it’s vented properly, and the gas is shut off during sleep 😴 Not sure how I ended up here, glad I did! 😎🏖🌴☀️🇦🇺
Happy to have you watching Jack 🙌🏼
Great table, and safe room!! Sail bag, never seen a hard bag! Good job!
Thanks Denis. He’s got a brilliant boat indeed
Denise Corey -
thank you.
not 100% sold on the wood in carribean considering how humid, hot and different vermin there. i prefer new style fiberglass/vineer. its light and resists all that better. But the guy is an artist and a amazing craftsman. absolutely stunning work.
Very cool boat, great refit!
He’s done a masterpiece!
Impressive build
Beautiful boat great attention to detail she deserved it after being a charter boat
Ha yes she did! A little love and care after years of miss use
Beautiful boat! Good job!
Very impressive work.
Really enjoyed this
Wow👍🏻
oh, I thought it was for sale,,,, well, it's lovely. Thank you for sharing it. 'BULLET PROOF that's more protection than my 3 great danes
OMG, love the rope accents!! I've been pushing those on my wife for our boat, maybe she'll convert now... Awesome job, very inspiring David, super tour, thank you #CatDog
Thanks for the lovely words Robert! 🙌🏼
Talented guy
Mans got skills
Great work and great video boat tour !
Cheers!!
Question: Was this a motorized catamaran (without sail)? Adding the hardware to make standing rigging & mast, winches, foresails, etc. would make this an immense conversion if correct.
Hello. This was a proper sailing catamaran but with the way it was treated the mast was taken down in its old life. David very nicely put it all back together
Yep more of these
I’ll try keep them coming 🙌🏼
YES MORE OF REAL PEOPLE FIXING THIRE BOAT WOULD BE MUCH BETTER THAN ALL OF THE PRO DYI GUYS OUT THERE ...GREAT SHOW
I’ll try keep them coming Bruce! Cheers
Very nice. Please show more👍
Will do!
Pretty resourceful guy
Bravo!
Awesome
Cheers!
🌈🍺⛵️ Great episode cheers 🥂⛵️🍺🍺
Thanks so much 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Dave has too much taste to be straight. Impressive!
Yes show more but can you please put a price on it
Badass!
Right! Mans a legend
Nice video, nice looking boat but that music in the background is driving me nuts. Thanks for sharing and best from HKG
Thanks so much
Once again a wonderful upload from my favourite couple..... Nice Catamaran.. How much does it cost though ???
Thank you for the nice words. I do believe he got it quite cheap in its run down state.
I liked that alot. Id be interested in seeng more tours... but only unique one offs. Just me.
I’ll try keep them coming. Thank you for the nice words.
V impressive
Great video. That must have taken years to do.
I believe he bought it 10 years ago. So he some time with it!
What a great job. How much did it cost him all up please. How much to do one for me
Not sure about money. If you want I can put you in contact with him
wayne giles - because I did everything myself, I don’t really have an accurate figure of how much everything cost me. I was working 9-5 so I just bought materials as I went along.
@@coracoraable Again David well done mate, myself and three mates did the same 40 years ago with a 42' ketch but sailed and lived on it for 3 years around Australia. Ahhh the good ol days. I have just watched your video again and if i was able i would be out there again myself so good on you mate and safe travels.
Air flow? Cool or hot inside?
Good for you, it looks great.
Nice... Did he say "arrest me if I'm wrong" a lot?
Do you all have contact information for David? I have a 2003 Privilege 435 and wanted to redesign my windows the same way he did. I was hoping to chat with him and ask him some questions. Thank you!!!
This guy could build a shopping mall with a pen knife....you rebuild a boat and make it beautiful, then no one to share it with .....the same with all solo sailors around the world ....sadly.....
Hahaha mans got skills!
Hello. Wow what a great video tour. Thank you very much. Is there anyway you can send the English men’s contact information. I’m looking at a 2008 Privilege 445 myself and have a few questions for him.
Thank you
Sure Marc, you can find him here

Did anyone hear what year Privilege this is? Or might you know?
I believe it’s 2000 or 2001, he did tell me but I can’t remember for sure
Nick Perugini it’s a 2000 Privilege 435.
