the musical score picking up as ip man follows in master huongs footstep shows the determination that master huong had using his moves to prove that master huong was a great fighter in all aspects the last moments of this fight was a tribute to master huong to show that he wouldve beaten twister had master huong not had a asthma attack

@@GeeMTeaa Huong still fought Ip to a standstill, admittedly he was exhausted afterwards. But the point Ip makes is that good Kung Fu would beat Twister anyway in a fair fight. Which Ip proved, and then some, by beating Twister in a rigged fight using Huong's style of Kung Fu. Which has always literally meant skill developed through hard work.

The cut with Hung at 7:38 is so sick. Also note that hung ga uses legs/kicks so much less than other kung-fu's that it's a perfect pivot after kicks getting banned in the fight
But master Hung did kick though Edit :probably because there were no judges

The real Ip man never fought with a boxer, it was his student against a russian boxer. The student won in 3 punches.
@@jno8039 As someone who has seen countless examples of wing chun used against combat sports including boxing, and who understands the merits and drawback of both, I don't believe that for a second. I've never seen anyone use wing chun against even a moderately competent prize fighter and not get destroyed. Wing chun has notoriously soft strikes, and boxers are the best conditioned at taking blows of anyone. Which is why any time wing chun goes against real fighters it just gets walked right through like a soft breeze and immediately overwhelmed. I'd absolutely believe the opposite happened, because I've seen that happen a lot. There's a reason you don't see wing chun in the Octagon. Namely, it doesn't work.
Twister really sells it; I love his performance at 7:20 - he’s clearly hurting, surprised, and afraid of this new tactic; it’s the first time his inner cowardice is truly revealed; it’s the proverbial crack in the armor, the moment when the tides turn, and the actor nails it.

Indeed, he sold the confused painful expression well. I wouldn't really list it as cowardice, he just never confronted a strategy that crippled his main form of offense and defense, so it's more an expression of confusion and pain at the same time
Both did a wonderful job for this fight scene! Some people don’t even realize “TWISTER WAS A MARTIAL ARTIST TOO!” He had to pretend to be a boxer only! If you look at some other movies he in MORTAL COMBAT!(probably wearing a mask as Scorpion or other!)
Unfortunately he is deceased now! (May have committed suicide!?) RIP to an underrated actor/artist!
Donnie Yen is one of my favorite martial artist!

@@Wes_Bradley-Taubner Twister in ip man 2 is definitely stronger than Mike Tyson in Ip Man 3. If Tyson's character was younger for sure he would have been better than Twister. Ip Man had a lot more trouble with Twister and he was younger than he was when he fought Tyson.

Master Ip was the only one that could defeat Twister after Master Hong.. As Master Ip Man and Master Hong was shown as equal. All were rooting for Master Ip.

The funny thing is that Donnie Yen is actually just as muscular as his opponent, if he takes off his top, and if he hasnt got to pretend to be degraded physically as Ip Man lol

He actually has no muscle underneath when playing Ip Man, Donnie Yen really went slimmer and got really thin, but when acting in other movies like Flash Point, Raging Fire and Special ID
He actually lost weight for this role to make it look authentic. Donnie outside this role is kinda yoked out. But for IP Man movies, he was actually a Featherweight.

And back in those days, an actual boxing match lasted up to fifteen rounds. Boxers who lasted that long were in far better shape than anyone, and I mean anyone than today. Imagine fighting up to fourty five minutes rather than the time limit of thirty minutes today.

It was impossible to beat Master Hung. It happened possible because only he was too old and remained not so healthy like he was before❤.
Like it or not, in the real world, the boxer will win the fight.
Nah, it depends on the practitioner but if they’re at the same skill level and they have equal strength, speed, BIQ, reflexes, weight, height and experience then the boxer is more likely to win.

This battle somehow reminds me of Katakuri vs Luffy fight. Luffy was repeatedly pummeled by Katakuri to the ground, and then stood up again like Ipman.
Oh shoot I never made the connection before but that makes sense, with luffy constantly adapting and growing as the fight progressed

This is one of the few that I think in an open fight they would have simply defeated Ip man, with that blow he had already defeated him at 1:15 and he could only get up because the rules of the fight allowed it. It must be the hardest hit ipman received in all the fights.
Ip man was only taking hits because he was trying to hit Twister muscles
At 3:51, those were baby punches to Twister. Ip Man got lucky that it wasn't a bigger boxer or a more deadlier fighter. Otherwise, Ip Man probably wouldn't survive. Wing Chun is good and all, but there is literally no opening to hit Twister at that scene. If Ip Man did a better martial arts style or something similar to Boxing. Then, it would have been easier to hit him. In Wing Chun, you're almost always too open to being hit. Then you can't kick in boxing rules. Both have their flaws. Great movie but flawed fighting styles to both of them.

Chinese Kung Fu beats American Boxing, only in the Movie, LoL😅😅
Kind of realistically including kicks into a boxing match puts the boxer at a serious disadvantage. Wing chun would definitely lose as its a joke, but many other martial arts could def succeed. Be more comparable in mma in which case most singular forms are at a huge disadvantage.
Actually it depends on the fighter, whoever has more experience, skill and reaction will have more advantage to win a fight. Chinese fighting styles are focused on the middle line of the body, which is really painful after being hit. Plus, Chinese Kung Fu will have more advantages if it is allowed to use kick.
They had Donnie Chun falling like the family guy cast. Smh. Lol

The movie team could have moved this movie to higher layer by increasing the quality of it and so named the movie as TCP man or UDP man or even HTTP man. Now it just stayed at third layer.

If you've ever practiced boxing then you would realize that the gloves' only purpose is to protect the wearer's hands, not the man on the business end of the punch.
The gloves are literal weapons since they allow you to punch much harder without breaking your hands.
wrong , without them he wouldnt be able to punch hard , his hand after a ciuple of punches will hurt alot and sometime may break . gloves mainly protect hands before opponent's face

Subtitle was wrong. Ip man suggested Master Hung to attack the arms on the match where Master Hung died.

It's not. Donnie vs Sammo Hung at the start, vs 10 black belts from 1, and vs Max in Ip Man 3 are better.

It's a match between 2 martial arts, not a boxing match. Ip Man has the right to use his technique of kicking. They were simply just afraid of losing the game. Because if it was a boxing match, they should have banned kickings from the start and Ip Man wouldn't have fought in Wing Chun.

And to think that compared to the other boxers in the franchise, Twister is just a brute who got a chronically ill past-his-prime first oponent to beat senseless and needed to hinder the second one and cheat to have a chance that ultimately failed.
BTW, Don't get me wrong. Twister still is a very dangerous opponent to anyone (I bet he can knock me the f-out with one of his softer punches). Even in a fair fight against other fighters from the films he can offer a good tussle, but the only way he has a chance to win against the top ones is if it's on his ring and with his judges, and even then Mike would probably KO him on the first rounds.
