  • The Hardy 36 Commodore was launched at the 1996 London Boat Show, and back then it was the biggest boat that Norfolk-based Hardy had ever built. Nick Burnham (aka Aquaholic) explains how to spot a good one on the secondhand market...

Me, too. And this looks like the perfect boat to me: I can use it inland all the way to my home in York, and then head out to - who knows where?

I just absolutely love this type of boats with safe, practical and timeless design. Boats that are made to be used and can take you to hell and back.

Gosh 1996. I don’t see that as being a long time ago. But without intending to disrespect this charming traditional boat... things have moved on haven’t they?!

Who in the US makes a boat like this? Aft cabins went away years ago and everyone is making speedboats now.... or super fancy luxury boats that aren’t really mainstream and practical.

Now that we’ll be locking the World down every Flu season I can see living full time on my boat (not as large or nice as this one) but we’ll still have the freedom of the seas and getting the Heck out of the hot zones. Peace and health to my fellow boaters.

The decking on this looks to be brand new and it did not look like much else needed to be repaired / replaced. Even the blue cushions appear from 1996. No engine room :(

Just read this morning (1/5) that the company has gone belly-up ... great shame because they're great boats! The administrators are keeping the staff on at the moment and hoping to sell the company as a going concern. Let's hope so! Sadly I don't think they're going to be the only ones in trouble.

The descriptive below doesn't actually match the content .. because you're descriptive gives means that it's about an array of boats to choose from not a single Boat .
Anyways Hardys a perfect inshore cruiser that perfectly shows you don't need to spend over and above ..
