I have been rocking my mini 2 for 3 years now. It has been through rain, snow, water spray(i use to film sailing boats and windsurfing really close to the waves), wind gusts of about 10m/s and some trees and it is still going strong. I would argue it is the best drone that dji has ever relased
How’s your batteries? Any swelling? I’ve had my mini 2 for 3 1/2 years, ~120cycles, and the batteries are slightly swelled, more so after using. But still usable.
I have a lot of drones but my favorites are my 2 Mini 2 drones. Like you I've flown the Mini 2 for 4 years and it just keeps going and going. I bought a second as a backup drone in case I ever crash the original. The 2nd mini 2 was only flown twice and then boxed up for the future. It's just so good that I want to fly these little guys well into the future. So, I don't need a Mini 2 4K. However, I am glad for this release because that means the batteries for it will continue to be available. So that's what I'm interested in. I'll probably buy and store about 10 of them for use in the future. I'm 58 now, so these little drones will be with me probably the rest of my life. There just perfect! Cheers.
haha so true!! It's basically a good old car, the Mini 2 will keep on flying and flying! I really think as the Mini 4K has the same shell as the Mini 2 SE it's probably worse quality than the Mini 2, so I'm keeping mine as long as I can.
My thoughts exactly, plus no third-party apps. I actually just ordered the Mini 4 Pro as an upgrade from the Mini 2 I've owned for 3 years, and looking back it's still insane what they've been able to pack into these things.
I am always in awe by how incredible these drones are. The truth is, if you know how you can make it look incredible, if not even an Inspire 3 won’t help you.
At last… a kudos video for the Mini2. Got mine in the first Covid and learned how to fly, observe where I’m flying, plan flights etc. still get a thrill getting a good day to fly and get the Mini2 out and about. Got envy when the 4 came out but waited for winter and the weather to change, got my mini out and envy disappeared… thanks for this one Philip…
The Mini 2 is still an excellent little drone, so much so that they basically re-released it as the Mini 4K 😂 I’m actually very surprised nothing was changed, and they even removed the cool Night Rider LED!
Bro , here in my location the mini 2se and mini 4k standard version is of same price, so should i go for mini2se or mini 4k according to you? is the video quality same in both the drones ? actually in some videos i saw mini 4k video quality is little on the colder side whereas the mini 2se video quality is on the warmer side.. please suggest me which one to go for?
I knew to check your review on this before I bought it , as I was confused with the newer releases and remembered your great mini2 reviews from before!
The Mini 2 is still a beast. I have it on its way to Armenia right now so I can get back into using it and capturing landscapes. Still haven't seen a reason to upgrade aside from battery life!
I just bought the mini 4k and love it, but I’m having trouble using quick transfer in the app. Strangely, it may automatically save images and videos to my iPhone photos folder but I don’t know yet if these are full quality. I hope they are.
I have been keeping my Mini 2 assuming I would crash it eventually and replace it then, but it has been so good to me! I shoot a lot of paid content for car dealers with it to this day (provided lighting is at least reasonable)
It's night and day when it comes to the Mini 2/4K transmission.

I just bought mini 2 SE standard edition. Sold my mini se but still have "fly more" charger and 2 extra batteries from it which fit to my new mini 2 SE. It was ultra cheap upgrade. I spend only ~ 80E. Mini SE was excatly the same like Mini SE 2 but range of it was so poor. Now i got what I want. Prices of drones now are super low in compare to this 2 years ago. I dont need 3 or 4 which are really cool but all I need i have now for my droning ;)
You are correct saying that the Mini 2 is the same as the Mini 4k the only differents is the light maybe they decided to save battery power by not adding one who knows and being that the body is compact shorter arms and props than the Mini pros I feel it can withstand a crash better a solid little drone and say if you had to chose the Mini 2 or the Mini 4k and wanted one being that it is the same drone would you pick one that has been discontinued or one that just came out ? To me getting the Mini 4k makes more sense that was my decision to buy one both are great drones Great video !

Well, the Mini 2 has a Mini 2 label inside the body, the Mini 2 SE and Mini 4K have Mini 2 SE labels inside the body, so on that basis I'm under the impression that it's slightly worse in build quality. I would however love if I could connect the Mini 2 or Mini 4K to the DJI RC controller, that would be fantastic!
I lost mine in a forest in the state of Georgia. It’s probably still up the pine tree it hit. My fault by the way. Unfortunately I never found it. Expensive mistake.
I've got the Mavic 3 Pro and Mini 3 Pro. That's well over $3K total, not included extra batteries, etc. Mini 4K got me more excited. Instant purchase. $300 no-brainer. Why? I will put the $300 into much sketchier scenarios than my $900 Mini 3 Pro or $2200 Mavic 3 Pro. Not dangerous situations for people, animals, property, etc, but scenarios where the drone may get damaged to get a good shot. "I want this shot, but it's raining, dusty, etc." So it fits right into a "pro" drone kit. But the most exciting aspect is it's appeal to new drone owners. For $300, it's still excessively capable to fly around our boring neighborhoods, which is all 99% of drone owners will do anyway. Your neighborhood is going to get real boring, real quick, and the drone will collect dust 360 days out if the year. Better $300 is collecting dust than $3,000.
Another difference is the controller included with the "new" Mini 4k only has one battery instead of the usual two, therefore only half the battery life.
Nope, the "new" N1C controller has had a battery downgrade. It'll still last three drone batteries worth of flights, but will need charging more frequently than the original N1
I think the Mini 4K looks like a downgrade. Some of the changes are: No front LEDs, RC-N1C controller only works with the Mini 4K and has one battery vs the RC-N1, Mini 4K has a fake file transfer button that doesn't work, and if you look under the battery door it reads "Mini 2 SE"
@@billsmith5166 It's funny, I flew the Mini 2 probably more than anyone I know, and I'm about 110% certain the camera resolution is identical, as is every single other spec, including design. The Mini 4K lacks the LED light up front that lets you see the drone at night and it also comes with a controller that has 50% the power of the original. I think what's happened here is pretty obvious. You've fallen into the trap that was set up for the general public. The DJI Mini 2 SE vs the DJI Mini 4K... It's like DJI erased the memory of the DJI Mini 2 from everyone's mind. The DJI Mini 2 is the same drone, exactly the same drone, and in fact it's probably better as it has an LED light, a controller with 50% more power AND probably a higher quality material.
