Hey man, I have owned the Mini 2 SE for a little over a year now. I found out almost immediately why the gimbal does that in sport mode. Because it is such a small drone, the profile of where the camera is very close to the top of the drone. Because it is a small drone, it will need to be tilted further to be able to reach top speed. The top of the drone would get in the way of the camera view so it tilts the camera forward to make the quality of the high speed footage better. Hope that helps.
I'm considering getting 1 as my 1st drone. I want to use it for; surveillance, as a toy, Search & Rescue , Roof/ shingle inspections , exploration, potentially money making for tourism, weather spotting, and if shit hits the fan, could use it for Search & Destroy. That's just my military mindset.
@MattyDCCollins yeah I even saw that u can charge it off of a portable battery pack possibly multiple times , sounds like the perfect travel drone or if you're outside for long periods of time like camping for example, a battery back would potentially let u use the drone for the entire camping trip or like a hike even
Got it recently and was definitely surprised on how well it flies, probably because I’m use to drones from 2012 lolll but yeah it’s a great drone especially if your getting back into drones or just starting!

There is no fix for the gimbal jerk. It is common for all the Mini 2 drones. I can sometimes place my Mini 2 in sport mode and carefully and very slowly come up to full speed and the gimbal might hold for a shot or two, but a sudden sports mode acceleration will definitely cause that gimbal to jerk.
Whenever the wind takes my drone I hit the return home feature. It will fight the wind waaayy better than I could. After using the feature i haven’t had to chase after it.

This thing looks great, I think I’m gonna buy it for €369, for that price I get the fly more combo package. Great for a starter right? Wanne use it for some forest walks and on my holiday to France.
Thanks for sharing your pros and cons list. I've been using the Hover X1 which is fully autonomous with pre-programmed flight patterns. I'm interested in getting something for high altitude to get shots while were off-roading. I just discovered while on an off-roading trip to Colorado that the X1 wont fly when we're in the mountains and above 9,000 ft elevation. Do the DJI drones have the same issue with higher altitude locations, or is it less of an issue because they are more powerful so to speak?
Marty I was just about ready to pull the trigger on the Mimi 2 se, But I have a question. Can you charge the battery in a car like a cell phone, that would be a game changer for me.
Great review! I am a semi beginner with Drones, had a DJI Tello I got from Walmart about 8 years ago, but I never really used it as it didn't have the features I needed. Loved flying it though. Found this Mini 2 SE and it has features I like so I had to check out a review. Looks like I'll buy this one, my only concern is the sensors as I live in the woods but we shall see lol
We are the real video noobs , but we are using the mini 2 se a lot ! As we don’t have expensive software we just use the free versions that let us export to 1080p anyway :)) .. just 1 question, so let’s say we are shooting in 1080p instead of 2.7k as the export will be 1080p anyway , should we go with the higher fps ? The 24fps is kinda lagging
I think I can help. Your quality doesn’t affect your lagging at all. Your fps whether it’s 24, 30 or 60fps doesn’t matter but you’re getting that lag because your shutter speed is not set properly. Next time you shoot 24 fps change your shutter speed to 1/50 it’s always double so if you shoot 30 fps use 1/60 for your shutter speed this will give you natural motion blur
For those cinematic color filters or shots, couldn't someone shoot video with this drone, then bring it into final cut pro and add cinematic filters for a finished product? At least that's what I'm trying to do with it.
I'm here cause I haven't had a drone in years, last cheap one I had was the spark. And I could either get mini 2 combo for $700 or mini 3 combo for $1200 and wanna see if the extra $500 is worth it
Can't speak about the gymbol from as I nearly always fly coach, as a beginner I've found the 2 SE a great starter, I'm not likely to ever make anything artistic film wise. Would recommend ND filters, it appears to have an issue if you point it towards the sun even in winter while flying around, the image has large soft spots. Oh and I always carry mine in a sock if it's in my backpack!
Haha that’s amazing you use a sock as well! I always sock up my lenses! Yeah the gimbal issue seems to be the only big issue. The quality is great for the price!
How do I find rid I am trying to register it for commercial use but after going to about section in the app it gives sn for bunch of other stuff but not RID.
Honestly there is a point of diminishing returns. This strikes a great balance in affordability and anything other than the absolute high end is splitting hairs for minimal gains in playing subjective production skillsets vs value.
I definitely agree in the law of diminishing returns, however I do see value in buying the air 2s as an upgrade path because to me, the quality is justified by paying extra.
Yes. You are required to take the TRUST test, which is impossible to fail. Just print out the certificate and keep it with you when you fly. If you fly professionally (for compensation), you need to take the part 107 test.
@@christianmichaels8322 Nah not making anything at all off flying. Just for fun. I'll do the test. Have looked up a lot on it. It seems pretty simple. So far have only practiced in doors and my back yard maybe 10ft off the ground. Thanks for the replies neighbor 😊. Happy flying

So what is the difference between the mini 2 and the mini 4k the only thing is the price, so why is the mini 2 price still at 600 dollars, make it make sense and why nobody is talking about the likeness of this drone and the mini 2 the content creators are not mentioning the mini 2 but they are mentioning the mini se and the mini 3 and 4 but not the mini 2. At least they could given ocusync 4.
@@MattyDCCollins found out and no. Unfortunately the FPV goggles only pair with the FPV line. A work around is using a VR headset for my phone and switching gimbal to “FPV” in fly app.
Just observe the drone position in sport mode. Moving forward at full speed will have the drone in a very nose down position. So the gimbal have limitation on tilting above drone horizontal position. to test this point, angle your camera 80 degrees down and push forward. Will have no issue maintaining the angle relative to true horizontal.

That X1 looks unreal!
@MattyDCCollins it works great for the intended purpose (flying selfie camera), but it only has a 30ft range. The video quality is excellent.
Is this drone good to just drive around and look around your neighborhood or an area on the screen
It would be perfect for creeping the neighborhood 🤣
@@MattyDCCollins sounds like a plan 😈
Marty I was just about ready to pull the trigger on the Mimi 2 se, But I have a question. Can you charge the battery in a car like a cell phone, that would be a game changer for me.
Hey Donald, yes I use a portable charger no problem. So a car charge should not be an issue :)
If you want to use the Amazon link in my description to buy it would greatly help the channel :)
How far can it fly from you? And can you see the cakera live? Or just record abd watch later?
rated for 10k but I don't think you'd get that kind of range in real life
Great review! I am a semi beginner with Drones, had a DJI Tello I got from Walmart about 8 years ago, but I never really used it as it didn't have the features I needed. Loved flying it though. Found this Mini 2 SE and it has features I like so I had to check out a review. Looks like I'll buy this one, my only concern is the sensors as I live in the woods but we shall see lol
hahah you'll be fine with this one, just be careful in those woods!
@@MattyDCCollins I didn’t even know , it has a shutter speed , but this makes sense now !!
For those cinematic color filters or shots, couldn't someone shoot video with this drone, then bring it into final cut pro and add cinematic filters for a finished product? At least that's what I'm trying to do with it.
Yes for sure but the colour depth is different and you have less flexibility in colour grading
Bro I bought your preset and can’t get the file download. Please help!!
Dm me on instagram let’s figure this out :)
Love the aesthetic ! Can you tell or review a model that it is even better for like more 50 , 100 eur/doll? Thanks!
like review an even cheaper model?
Why i dont have options like pano, quickshots etc? (Maybe cuz i dont have sd card inserted in drone?)
make sure it's in flight for those to work :)
I'm here cause I haven't had a drone in years, last cheap one I had was the spark. And I could either get mini 2 combo for $700 or mini 3 combo for $1200 and wanna see if the extra $500 is worth it
ahhh got you the mini 3 has some cool upgrades for sure but the 2se will be great for most people
Can't speak about the gymbol from as I nearly always fly coach, as a beginner I've found the 2 SE a great starter, I'm not likely to ever make anything artistic film wise.
What portable power bank do you recommend or use?
Anker is a good brand - I like 20,000 mAh - you can try this one if you like amzn.to/3uVsnrx
@@MattyDCCollins Awesome thanks for the info
How's the dynamic range/sensor quality?
the video files turned out really good :) but not the best for dynamic range
@@MattyDCCollins Ok Thanks!
The DJI mini 2 se now is 250 on official DJI website or refurbished unit 199
That’s a steal!!!
Does this drone have rid for the upcoming faa change
after a quick google it looks like YES for commercial use and NO for personal use :)
How do I find rid I am trying to register it for commercial use but after going to about section in the app it gives sn for bunch of other stuff but not RID.
Does the mini 2 se have tracking? Can i make it follow me mountain biking?
It doesn’t but if you watch my video on the mini 3 I show you a way around that near the end of the video :)
can you tell me what all is in the box ?
I think there's a video on YT for that!
is it possible to swap the camera from a crashed mini 3 on to a mini 2se?
not sure about that tbh
Honestly there is a point of diminishing returns. This strikes a great balance in affordability and anything other than the absolute high end is splitting hairs for minimal gains in playing subjective production skillsets vs value.
I definitely agree in the law of diminishing returns, however I do see value in buying the air 2s as an upgrade path because to me, the quality is justified by paying extra.
Thanks so much for an excellent review. Very Very Helpful for a first-timer!
Very welcome! I appreciate you supporting the channel :)
Is it possible to change the camera and make 4k or no?
unfortunately not, you would have to upgrade drones.
Do you have to take the trust test for the mini se?
which country do you live in? In canada there is no test required for sub 250g
@@MattyDCCollins live in the USA. Minnesota just below yah lol
Which App can I use your preset? I just order this drone a few days ago. I already get your preset. I would like to use it on my photos from my mini 2 se. Thank you!
It works great on Lightroom! Do you have it?
the gimmbal drops down in sport mode so it wont capture the front of the drone
Yeah it's so lame, I've had this happen a lot sadly
@@MattyDCCollins i think it has to do with with the gumbal they use tit even happens on the mini 2
Can I connect my mini 2 se to Blackmagic switcher for live streaming don’t want to use rtm for latency issues
I’m not sure about this tbh might be a good Reddit question
Bro I love the mini 2 se, it’s under 249g perfect for hobbyists
yeah I think so too! Crazy what it does for the price :)
I just got this drone today and I've never flown one before. Thank you for helping relieve some of my fears about trying this out. Now if I can just find the correct app to download to my phone! 🤣
haha enjoy! happy to help :)
I just got one, do you know if its possible to record at 60fps ?
I bet you can in 1080p but not 2.7k
Can I connect mini 2 se on dji smart controller
to my knowledge no but the mini 3 yes.
Does the SE come with LEDs fitted?
There are some indicator LEDS yeah
I just need it for inspecting roof damage. Works great.
Haha that’s so perfect, it’s like DJI made a drone just for you :)!
Do you know the max distance on the mini 2se?, it does have the auto return home function right?
6 miles but you can't comfortably fly at that distance maybe closer to 3-4
Thank you!
At least they could given ocusync 4.
yeah I'd save the money and get the 2se to be honest 4k isnt that important to me.
It only come out last year right ??
Yeah just over a year old I think :)
@@MattyDCCollins n the brought out 3 n 4 already n on about the 5 lol 💀😭😭
Sport mode has more of a pitch so it creates more horizon tilt
honestly kind of too bad, just wasn't used to it cause I typically use my air 2s
Thank you for taking drone somewhere where is should be. I understand their security concerns but it it drastically overblown.
One of the prettiest places I've ever been, so happy we were able to use the drone :)
Thanks for the video, looking into picking one up on top of my M1Plat and MA1 ;-) Too bad about the lack of Hyperlapse.
Yeah hyper lapse is a pretty fun feature for sure, but I guess reasonable given the price that it's not included 🥲
@@MattyDCCollins You know any drone with Hyperlapse that gives an affordable price?
I won one from a twitch streamers live raffle. Can it be paired with the FPV Goggles V2?
I'm actually not sure, you might have to ask that one on reddit!
@@MattyDCCollins found out and no. Unfortunately the FPV goggles only pair with the FPV line. A work around is using a VR headset for my phone and switching gimbal to “FPV” in fly app.
Just got one as a gift and I appreciate the video
of course josh stoked for you!
Can you shoot in RAW for photos?
I think you can on the mini 2 but not the SE you might have to double check that tho
Great video. I always recommend buying this drone to newbies.
Yes I totally agree, it's perfect for beginners
this drone is awesome the quality and ease to use is amazing just use common sense along with it not hit any objects
hahah yeah I agree, the lack of sensors kinda sucks but just be careful out there!
This was really informative. I’m headed to Auckland next month. I wanted to buy the dji air2. I’m glad I can start with the mini2 se. Hopefully I won’t have to sneak it😂
hahah glad it was helpful britt! I don't think you'll be disappointed for the price :)
im in new zealand too im buying it cus 3 of my friends just brought it this week😂
Great video. I’m looking for a starter drone and this is a contender. Thanks
No problem 👍 Yes it should be in the mix for sure!
Thank you Brother ❤
You're most welcome
Great vid thanks. You were keen smuggling into Jordan!!
I was LUCKY hahaa
Just bought a great refurbished deal.on ebay for $235 ! Shipped
such a good deal! link us hahah!
Cool video! Just bought it in 2024 😁
Nice choice Marc, I think you're gonna love it!
Why no drones in a desert country though?
I know right? So sad 😞
That was really helpful, thanks!
Thanks for the love hudhud!
Thank you for the advice, i want to buy my first drone
Thank you so much for all the details information.
of course jimmy! thanks for supporting the channel with your comment :)
that drone in the thumbnail is not a dji mini 2 se
I have same issue in sports mode dunno why
Comments have some theories
