Razer Mamba Elite Review with DeathAdder Elite Comparison

- I've always preferred the Mamba over the DeathAdder because of the shape, but the DeathAdder always had the better sensor. Thankfully no more! They have the same top optical sensor.
So now the Mamba, with its extra features and gorgeous lighting go above the DeathAdder in the Top 40. The most important reason is the shape though, because it's a flattened out version of the DeathAdder, making it more suitable to more people and generally more comfortable (DeathAdder curves are usually a bit too extreme).
Still not a perfect mouse and the weight is more than most competitive players want these days, but given the popularity of the DeathAdder, the Mamba should replace it as the go-to mouse for many in my opinion. Well, it's what I would use anyway. It's up to you what you think is best, of course!

Is it worth upgrading from 2013 deathadder?
Kevin in my opinion yes. I have never used a death-adder for a long time but I love the shape of the mamba and it is a beautiful mouse. It is expensive but for me it is worth. It just depends on if you are down for the change.
I have the 2013 one too. And am seriously looking at this one when I'm ready to buy a new mouse. But arguably the best gaming mouse experience I've had was the original Steelseries Sensei. That thing handled everything like a boss and had a really comfortable grip.
Right now I'm looking at a couple of options, including the Rival 600 and the new Logitech one, G305 I believe

I bought the mouse and the side button buzz isnt there aswell as the mouse wheel doesnt make noise so it's just his copy. Hope this comment was helpful. :)

@@lukalehtola Well, if you've ever used a Roccat mouse -> yes. Compared to Roccat it will feel loose.
I switched from a G703 because of the incredibly loose mouse wheel (I sent it in three times, same wheel every time, was so confused that RJN didn't mention that in his review, tried it out in different shops in different countries as well by now and it's just bad) and in comparison to that it's definitely not loose.
I feel like that's very much a matter of taste, though. It's stiff enough not to activate it while clicking it (using the middle finger).
Currently my favorite mouse and I have a lot. Also can confirm the buzz isn't on my copy also the scroll wheel isn't loose but it is different.

THANK YOU FOR THE SHOUT OUT TO THE DIAMONDBACK! That's my favorite mouse ever and currently use the Lancehead Tournament cause its the closest to its shape but a bit larger. I really hope they remake it with the optical sensor.

Did you try yet new deathadder essential it should be 10g lighter than elite

As always, best channel for mice reviews. I was considering the DeathAdder Elite till his one came out, still a bit pricier than i would like but that RGB on the side tho (+wave lighting). Gimmick yeah, but my whole setup is about that extras.

I have always stayed with the Deat Adder elite up until now(2022) but as always the left click started double clicking but I realized its not possible to buy the ELITE version anymore so I was looking for an alternative.
Thank god I found mamba, after watching this review I'm sure it will be a good purchase:)
The reason why I'm not buying the deathadder V2 is bcs the button placement is horrible (i dont think anyone uses the "sensitivity buttons" for actually changing the sensitivity:)))
I waited for something like this :D wanted to buy deathadder elite but as this showed probably this is a better pick . I wanted something with a lot of rgb lights and flawless sensor
I have the Deathadder Elite and Basilisk already. Looks Like I'll be picking this up over the Lancehead since I prefer the right hand grip over ambidextrous.

I like that you test the wheel button pressure. No one else does this. I find most wheel buttons are too hard to press.

The Mamba TE was the first "gaming" mouse i ever owned, after i switched to my ec1-a which i currently use i realized just how heavy the mouse was and the impact it had on my sens/muscle memory.
Which mouse has 2 side buttons, its good for FPS games, it has a good silent scroll thats not too lose or hard to click and somewhat silent left and right buttons? It can be from any company at any price (well under 200$ i guess :D) This combo is an instant buy for me.
Do tell if you know some.
I'd been using a Deathadder 2013 for a long time until I tried the Mamba Elite, which has made me better in League of Legends. It just feels like a powerhouse of perfection for fingertip grip.
I'm having an issue where hotkeys are delayed or not responding at all. Using an on board memory profile seems to fix this but then the tracking feels off. Has anyone else experienced this or found a solution?
If you could, could you please review the new HP Omen release, the Reactor. I know it weighs ~165g, but from what I've read that is mostly due to the armoured cable it comes with. Perhaps a cable mod is possible? Whatever the case, I would love to hear your opinions on its shape and the responsiveness of its' optical mechanical switches.
Awesome that this has side tilting wheel, which is a must for me. Might even try this out.

I just bought it and it's pretty great in my opinion, it has some great lighting and it's pretty comfortable to use at for casual and gaming sessions.

I will always choose performance over looks but this mouse would make any setup look amazing. I use a g403 so the size would be good for me but it's just the extra weight, 14 grams doesn't seem like much but when it comes down to mice it always feels like a lot. Nice review though as usual
RJN, assuming price was no issue, would you prefer the Mamba Hyperflux or the Mamba Elite and why?
Thanks for the review, How does the Mamba feel compared to the Logitech G903, I currently use the G903 and don't find it ideal for fast paced FPS but really like having the 4-way scroll which isn't available on any smaller/lighter mice. I've tried the original Mamba wireless (2012) and quite liked that shape but this one looks to have a wider grip width.
On my copy I don’t have any of yours quality problems but on mine it’s hard and loud to scroll up or down and there is burr on the on the edge of the left light

I have the tournament edition, and everything except the sensor is soooo perfect I love it, but I have a larger hand. I'm happy Razer finally made one with a good sensor. My next mouse will be the Elite for sure.

there is a really obvious 'jiggle' of the cursor for every liftoff that is really annoying in fps games, and I didn't see such bad movement with an optical sensor. The other big problem is you have to clean the sensor fairly often because if there is a hair or dust particle in there, it does a really big flick at every liftoff. That, in particular, is the worst, in a fight if you have to rotate there, with a movement that requires a liftoff it will move your cursor away so much you get disoriented. Otherwise, as I said it really is an excellent mouse, it's the sexiest one I've seen so far, and it matches my hand perfectly, I could never recommend it to anyone because of the sensor, but this elite is the best of both worlds.
THUNDERBUG laser sensors also have trouble tracking tiny movements
Benjamin Smithynunta At the begginning I used it with 1800 dpi, since then I went down to 800 so it doesn't really have to track tiny movements, but yes laser sensors aren't that good in that field either.
sensor is the best just adjust calibration

but isn't the diamondback basically a Logitech G Pro in terms of shape and quality wise Logitech mostly surpasses most Razer mice? I'm just asking because they look really similar.
I still have my original Diamondback :) Good ol' days. Haha, the buttons are so worn down now though, it's hardly able to be used. I love the DB shape, but the Deathadder just works so much better for my hand size and grip style. I also nearly purchased the Mamba over the DA a few months back, but the sensor held me back. Great shape, and LOVE the side RGB...
the diamondback is much longer, its the best mouse shape i have ever used, and ive tried All top mice.. : ] would be amazing, if they also fix so you can save settings on the mouse ofc.. : E

I have my original blue diamondback on my desk at work. And the 2015 model at home. Looking to upgrade mice to something that works with synapse 3 but really would hate losing my diamondback. Really wish they'd bring that design back and up to latest specs.
I really wanted the button tensioning system from the Mamba 2015 to be on the Mamba Elite. It would save me a lot of trouble in games where I use toggle aim and I double click right click and miss shots because of it. Also the tilt wheel is an underrated feature that should be included on more mice.
My friend has the tournament edition and his sense stops everything so often, but I use the Deathadder Elite and I like it
Finally! It hurt me everytime I visited eshop and saw Laser Mamba among the best sellers. People just bought it becaus it was pretty. Now it is a good mouse too and one of the few with 4direction scroll wheel.
I hope they will release it in smaller Essential edition just like DA.

On your new pc that you built, did you install the motherboard and GPU drivers? And did you run windows update?
I recently started looking towards new mouse, and choose mamba t.e. But I realized it got a lazer sensor, so I looked towards lancehead t.e. This mouse is very beautiful and now when it has a top sensor, it's definitely the mouse I want, I hope it's similar or lower price and also doesn't take too long to come in my stores.
I loved the HyperX Pulsefire FPS because I was able to put my whole hand on the mouse but the sensor was aging so I’ve been looking for a new mouse. Unfortunately the new Pulsefire surge changed the shape of the mouse and made it smaller so at the moment I’m using the Deathadder elite which is almost as big as the hyper x Pulsefire. Only problem with the Deathadder is the right side where the ring finger rests was sharp plastic so I had to put a piece of electric tape on it to make it smooth. Also the right click on the Deathadder sometimes feels weird like it’s not the same click as the left mouse. Do you know of any mouse with the same dimensions as the HyperX Pulsefire FPS?
Great mouse and you can turn the lights off if you need to. I used the deathadder for years until it started hurting my hands, I chalked it up to having to grip it tight to stabilize it. This isn’t a problem with the mamba elite and didn’t take me long to get used to. I am looking at moving towards ambidextrous mice after using the g305 and zowie fk1+. The g305 was too small and fk1+ gives me long term fingertip pain for days. Any recommendations?

This one really need a V2 update like the DA. It's an underestimate mouse from razer,Despite being bigger I find it more comfortable. Like the G403 but without the hump.
Just bought it on amazon for 70 euros, my first razer product, hope it's smooth and durable, thanks for helping to make my choice.
@@Jake72827 well was a bit weird for me during few days but it's ok now, mouse is very accurate in FPS and clicks are damn fast. And scrolls dont piss me off.

Mamba's side button buzz is caused by the strong spring on it and it seems it has very less stopper. But it won't buzz if your thumb is sticked to it from pressing and releasing it.

So my hand is 20.5x11cm, I'm using palm grip, what mouse would be big enough for me ?, I can use most of the mouse, my onl problem is the width, that small finger always seems to be "glued" together with ring finger on the side and I'm missing...lets say rest place or wide enough mouse which will eliminate the problem.
Any suggestion ?

Bought it for $104 at best buy today, finally completing my set, i got razer set, razer tournament edition chroma v2 , razer kraken pro v2 headphones, razer mamba elite the one ur reviewing and razer firefly chroma although the mouse pad is pretty small in my opinion, so i just use the large hyper x mouse pad

I´m thinking to replace my g203 because clicks are too loud but I can´t do it because I love the shape so much, the thing is there is not many alternative for small mouse or such.

I agree with so much of this, except for the point on software. Bought a deathadder and returned it the next day after 5 hours of fiddling with synapse. I tried every available method to get the software to properly track the mouse without it destroying my ingame fps but I couldn't. It was even extending to laggy tracking in other programs like chrome. I was working on all their options from tech supp, but their support is split between synapse 2 and synapse 3 on their responses. Tried both, neither would function without a notable computer slowdown compared to the logitech software. The software is not lightweight at all, and I'd like that to be a lot more clearly mentioned if possible haha

Hello. I have been using the Razer Mamba Tournament edition for almost 2 years now and I have to say I am not that impressed. I have problems like
1) lag
2) sensor moving the cursor when I lift the mouse ( even if I set lift distance at 1 in synapse)
3) cursor freezing after lifting the mouse sometimes ( random moments - sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't)
4) when I move the mouse vertically at low speeds it is lagging and the cursor even has a different trajectory rather then going straight up or down as intended.
The mouse in your video look like it is working almost perfectly besides the scrolling button. I would really appreciate if you could reply here and let me know what opinion you have.
Please try the Hiraliy f300. It has the pmw3325 sensor. You haven't reviewed much 3325 sensors and i would like your thoughts on the mouse
I would insta-buy a proper Diamondback for sure, after 15 years it still has the best shape, grip and everything for me (lefty player), but well after failing at making a decent comeback with the 2015 DB I'm not sure they'd be willing to make a new one, even though I think they should, sometimes going back to the basics, where everything started, can be a good thing.
Too bad that being left handed I cannot test all these cool looking mice like the Mamba, and this is why a good new Diamondback would make my day for sure.
I loved my Diamondback 3G. The closest alternative to the Diamondback is the G203/GPro but even with those two mice, the Diamondback is more comfortable since it's not as thin while still keeping a low + light profile.
Yeah we have some really light mouse like those, but the issue for me is that they're not truly ambidextrous, since they lack buttons on one side. The amazing thing about the Diamondback, among many, was the fact that it had all the buttons anyone, left or right handed, would need back in the day, and all of them were functional and not in the way at all, quite low profile. The weight was around 80 something grams I believe too, so it was all around an amazing mouse for me.
That's quite stupid, honestly, your brain has a way to understand things and changing it won't yield optimal results. Being able to do something doesn't mean you will do it as good as you're used to with your other, dominant, hand.
Pretty much like some FPS players do use inverted Y-axis while others see that as an impossible feat. Also, the time used to learn and, most importantly, mastering mouse aiming with my right hand can be used to keep improving what I already do well, which is using my left hand because, you know, time is kind of precious and I already spent almost 20 years improving my skill with the left hand.
I have a 2015 Diamondback and it's shit. The cable started to wear out after 2 months and the sensor started freezing up after only a few weeks! I don't even want to buy another razer product because I know that there's always going to be something wrong. Hell, even their customer support is terrible...

I just bought a mamba elite and the scroll wheel feels and sounds terrible on mine. It is so clunky and stiff. I'm going to return it tomorrow and I'm gonna get another deathadder elite instead.

I bought this as soon as I saw it on BestBuy. Like it quite a bit, definitely preferred to the MambaTE. Shape / Grip is better alone w/ the sensor (*Lighter weight). Probably my goto, although trying out the Balistik out of curiousity. Not sure I like it as much.

I'm looking for an ec2-a a little bit bigger for claw grip, this mouse seems to have a similar shape. It is close to ec2a when you handle it ?
I use my fingers to lift the mouse. I had the diamond back, the most beautiful mouse and best shape out of all, but it was heavy to lift and the side buttons were awful misplaced. Then I had the Abyssus, one of the best mouse for me, lightweight and nice shape. Then I turned to mamba tournament edition, heavier then abyssus, but worth it for the awesome ligths. I had to give up on it because of the sensor and the fact that it was sliding from my hands because of the sweat. Now I changed the keyboard and mouse to steelseries, I have the Rival 110 and it's perfect for me. Maybe not as good as the abyssus, but I wanted a change. I'm curious how the elite performs, now that it is lighter and maybe it has a better grip.

How responsive is the middle click with the fact that it's a tilting wheel. I had a mouse one time like that with very poor middle click where it would sense the tilting instead.

Would you recommend this mouse over the logitech g403 and rival 310 for someone who has big and fat hands like mine? (Maybe around 20 cm long and 10 cm wide) :)
One thing I think isn’t considered is the price through prime. The DeathAdder is extremely competitive at a mere $50, compared to a whopping $90 price tag on the mamba.

DIamondback was always my favourite mouse model. I had 4 of them when they originally came out and they all broke from a day to a month, lmao, same with copperhead.

Mamba elite is similar to Zowie shape but with premium components: buttons (great, soft and responsive click), scroll wheel and great grip on sides.
Just bought mamba elite and its the best mouse i have had so far (and boy do i have had many!)

Hey Zy i read on the internet that a firmware update for the g203/102 of some months ago boosted the dpi to 8000 but also increased acceleration ruining performance. Did you tested it? Do you know if it has been fixed yet?
