  • In-depth review of the new DeathAdder Elite with some comparisons to the Razer DeathAdder Chroma (previous version). The Elite is featuring a new sensor and DPI buttons, but is has some other improvements too. Overall, I think they've made good changes, but it may not be enough to inspire people to upgrade from the Chroma.
    Still one of the best and most popular mice around, especially if you have a large hand. There aren't many light weight, large mice around, especially with good sensors and buttons.
    Recommended for all game types except MMO.

    First time commenting on one of your videos (I think?), but you seriously deserve more subscribers than what you've got. These are some quality reviews.
    You aren't just talking about the specs like most other reviewers, but you actually put them to the test in game, which is very nice.

    I switched to this from the G502 and i love the G502. But for my hands, the Deathadder really did improve how well my aim was. I noticed the difference Immedietly.

      mine was so bad that it moved the cursor back when i stopped it, but i just fixed it with some double sided tape between the lens and the PCB. not that hard to do, and considering how awesome the 303 is totally worth it.

      i bought the g203, cost me 30 bucks, has the shell of the g pro, and i can't find a difference in feel between it and the g303 sensor wise, but i aim even better with it. for small mice, this has to be the absolute new budget king.

    Loved the review! You're straight the point and as a bonus you have a sweet voice. I liked the Deathadder Chroma for its sensor, but not the shape. It felt very cumbersome in my hand (too big) and was just awkward to hold and grip. I found the mouse slipping and difficult to aim with. The Zowie BenQ ZA13 arrived and it feels amazing! The plastic material could be improved along with the side buttons, but overall, is pretty good. The sensor feels raw and accurate, at least for me. Again, nice review! (:

    • @RocketJumpNinja
      @RocketJumpNinja  7 лет назад +4

      Thanks Kitty! Good to hear you like the ZA13 too... I actually aimed quite well with it, but I preferred the feel of the FK2.
      So after all the theorizing, how do you find the size? It's one of the smallest mice around so there's not much other choice... I'd imagine it'd feel pretty good though. And no accidental clicks on the ring finger side buttons?

    • @kittycatkiss530
      @kittycatkiss530 7 лет назад +2

      Rocket Jump Ninja The ZA13 is really comfortable for far! I've had no problems with clicking the right side buttons. Since I bind the left side buttons in game, it makes the right side ones useless. So clicking them doesn't effect me, even if I did manage to. I instantly saw an improvement in aim. With the Razer Deathadder Chroma, due to its size and general shape, I was over aiming to compensate. But with the ZA13, it doesn't stress my arm, wrist and feels more natural to me. Feels more like an extension of my arm. The RDC's flare at the front was too wide for my taste. By the way, i use both mice at 800 dpi and I noticed the ZA13 performed better. Or else I performed better with its shape.

    • @RocketJumpNinja
      @RocketJumpNinja  7 лет назад +2

      Absolutely, I found the same with the DA, it's just too big. And Zowie mice don't let you bind the right side buttons... it's the actual physical clicking in that can get annoying. But if your fingers dodge them, it's all good!
      800 DPI is fine, I personally use 1600 because it's a bit smoother... the argument against higher DPI is that it adds some delay, but I can't notice any, so I choose the smoothness.

    • @kittycatkiss530
      @kittycatkiss530 7 лет назад

      Rocket Jump Ninja Yeah, I understand. I prefer a lower dpi. Feels balanced to some degree, depending on the mouse you own. I've used higher dpi's before (1600) and I didn't notice much difference. Maybe it's my system. (:

    Should I get a Rival 700 or a Deathadder Elite?

    • @celestial5713
      @celestial5713 7 лет назад +26

      DA Elite. If you mean the Rival 300, still probably the DA Elite. Rival 700 is heavy, as loads of gimmicks and is just not that good. Rival 300 is good, but lacks a 3360 sensor to compete with the DA. However, the 3360 is not a huge improvement over the 3310 and a Rival 300 will not spin out in most cases. Check out both and see what shape fits you the best.

    • @djdoubx96000
      @djdoubx96000 7 лет назад +4

      I own the Rival 300 for about 9 months now, it works perfectly for me except the sensor. Mine is having an issue after 8 months of use, the sensor has some kind of smoothing, making it feels like a deceleration. It's just my copy maybe, but I've seen reports saying that they're having the same issue, some even worst. Not to blame the mouse pad surface and dusts, it is just a faulty mouse.

    I'd say this is a solid mouse i came from a EC2-A (White Logo) which had a messed up scroll wheel that sometimes skipped in games but other than that I loved that mouse. I like the feel buttons/scroll wheel are much better and the tracking seems to be the same as ec2-a which had a good sensor as well. I tested the G403 in stores and really didn't like the feel and it just felt cheaper I had bad experiences in the past with logitech mice. I will be keeping the EC2-A for LANs since it has no software and i wish razer had offline mode -_- only flaw for me

      Just an opinion as someone with both, I agree it gets sweaty and the scroll/side buttons are useless but it's still my choice for games. The 403 has a larger hump and doesn't fit in the hand quite so well with a palm/fingertip grip @ 19cm. Logitech is miles ahead for normal use as the dpi button is great for mouse3.

      Honestly: no, the mouse would be way to big for you. I's recommend a Logitech G Pro (wired) or a G305 OR a Zowie Divina S2, those are all fairly small mice and should be appropriate for your handsize (and all of these are very good mice).

  • @JohnA.Zoidberg

    I just replaced my old Deathadder 3500 with this mouse, after years of trusty service. I wanted something as close to my old mouse as possible. My hands are large and unfortunately several nerves are dead so I feel almost nothing with them. I also lack movement in both hands. But even with my hands, this mouse is responsive and the grip is perfect. Some people seem to complain about the buttons, how they're just a tiny bit heavier than most mice, but this is a massive advantage to me. It gives that slight audible feedback. I hope they never stop producing this line.

    I want to say thanks for your amazing reviews. They've been extremely helpful to me the past couple of weeks! You really cover all the bases when you review a mouse.
    I picked up a DeathAdder Elite, a Logitech G303, Logitech G pro, and a SteelSeries Rival 300 in my quest to finally find a good mouse after not gaming seriously since the days of HL1 and TFC. I really needed a mouse with usable side buttons, so that pretty much ruled out Zowie mice, from what I've seen. Unfortunately, I am really struggling to find a good way to grip these mice. My hands are about 20cm with long fingers, so I think due to that, I've become accustomed to a sort of claw/fingertip grip. The last mouse I had that worked well with my grip was an original Razer Diamondback. After that I used a Logitech G9 up until this week. I generally pinch the sides of the mouse with my thumb and ring/pinky finger.
    I've adjusted a bit and find the DA Elite to be the one I can work with the best. I wish there were more mice available that weren't 'dome shaped' and designed to simply rest your hand on top. It makes it difficult for people with long fingers/wide palms to pick up and reset the mouse position. This is why I liked the old diamondback.
    The G Pro was too thin and the rounded sides (which you covered in your review) really made it a pain. The G303 is SO CLOSE but it needs to be a tiny bit wider, perhaps with some rubber around the back like an old Razer Boomslang. I don't think putting it on the sides would work since the mouse would then tilt backwards upon lifting, which is one of the things I hated most about Logitech mice of the past.
    Hopefully Razer does away with the nonsense laser sensors in the rest of their mice. An updated Diamondback Chroma with this sensor would be great... The optical sensor in the elite seems excellent and honestly feels a little snappier than the Logitech mice, which surprised me since I know they use excellent sensors. Thanks again for your reviews and I hope that someone with a similar grip style might find this comment!

    Hello everyone! I want to give my opinion on this mouse. I’ve had this mouse for about two years now and I think it is excellent! However there are some major flaws with the quality control of this mouse. I’ve had to return this mouse and get a replacement every time the side grips started to peel/side buttons started to degrade or for some other reason. I’m too bothered to look for side grip replacements just so I can use my mouse. I’ve used this mouse in my counterstrike days and oh boy it sure did it’s job. I climbed ranks so quickly because I could aim finally same thing Overwatch. Though I love it to death, I’d rather have a different mouse only because of quality. If razer happens to improve its quality control then I may stay with this mouse but right now I would rather use something else.

It feels good at first with a casual grip, but when I am playing an FPS intensely for a few hours, I begin to get considerable pain in my hand. I use claw grip, and this mouse feels way too big for it. I use my thumb, pinky, and ring fingers to hold the mouse on the sides, flick it, fine tune aim, and sometimes lift momentarily. The back of this mouse feels very wide, and it is tall. While clicking with my pointer and middle finger, the whole top of my hand hurt from trying to arch over the tall hump and widen to hold on. The 2005 Razer Diamondback is MUCH more my style, and I still have it, but the buttons are getting weird. I may try the Abyssus next. I think I much prefer having a small mouse with a good inward taper on both sides to allow easy grip/flick/lifting, and a somewhat closed claw hand that allows for fine tuning aim with my fingers rather than wrist/arm.
    I had the Destiny 2 edition, and man it was a pretty mouse. The sensor, buttons, and scroll wheel felt fantastic. If your hand fits it, I think it's a great mouse.

    Really glad I stumbled onto your Channel almost a year ago Zy, I always come to you when I'm thinking about trying a new mouse out. I honestly feel like there isn't a better mouse than the DA for All game types if you have larger hands. It's what I settled on after going through 10+ mice(having a 21cm hand is a struggle in the mouse world) Can't wait to see what Zowie has in store for us in the coming months.

    • @35k1l2
      @35k1l2 7 лет назад

      If you want a Zowie I think the EC1-A would be good for you because I've heard that it has a similar shape to the DeathAdder

    • @jsb3967
      @jsb3967 7 лет назад

      35k1l I actually bought and still have the EC1-A and FK1+ lol. Love them both but I can't use them for MOBAS or RTS. The clicks are just too stiff because of the shell. It's just so hard to find a large, relatively light mouse with a top sensor that I can use for all game types. So far the DA family has been the best and that's why I'm still using it.
      Thanks for the suggestion though!

    I bought mine direct off the razer store and the bottom mouse foot started peeling immediatly. Contacting them Is a long winded process & they dont stock any spare feet. I've had my Razer Deathadder Elite for about a year or so now (daily use) and the only issues I've gotten are: rubber mats on both sides start to come off because the glue isn't holding them that well, middle mouse button light sometimes works but sometimes it doesn't, left mouse button has too much dust under it(I think, since it works fine after i blow on it) and so it causes the mouse to skip the button. Except these few issues the mouse works perfectly fine, just have to blow air under the left mouse button to clean it so the mouse doesn't skip over clicks and I have to move the rubber mats into the right place when they slip off, its a bit annoying but manageable.

    Never thought that choosing ,,the right" mouse would be that difficult :)
    Lately bought two from Zowie and its been mixed experience.
    *ZA12- Just about the right size (my hand nearly 19cm in lenght), but the back of this mouse is too high and gives stress to my wrist. Its as if the highest part is too far back and unbalanced. The curve goes up too aggressively. Would like to have little more support a bit further instead (to evenly distribute it). If I could only ,,shave off" that pumpy part :)
    *FK1- Very comfortable but maybe a bit too low for its length. Also too big for my hand.
    The ideal mouse would be something between these two. Recommendations?

    I had both. Both died because of a bad mouse wheel. Wheel is always the biggest problem with all mice I had. I use a Razer Basilisk now. Better constructed wheel, not wobbly like the Deathadder. And the Basilisk allows me more precise handling. Feels way better for me.

    bought the g303 based on you review. weight was perfect but the left button did not always click. I am talking 1 out of 100. the button would make the click sound but do nothing. so i got the g403. same thing. two mice with bad buttons ? maybe but probably more a design flaw. people rave about the buttons but they are raving about the sound imho. gamers clicking repeatedly are not noticing the missed clicks. i use it for business and gaming, so i did notice.
    next I got the death adder. wow, the da is a much much better mouse. it just feels fast in reaction. buttons always worked. and no review i could find showed the most amazing thing. the da software allows mouse adj to x and y dpi.....omfg.
    this allowed me to get the perfect feel to the mouse for my movement and screens. this is a game changer.
    this one feature makes the da a hands down winner.
    here is my review: buy or try the death adder elite first for a week, above all other mice. if it fits your hand and weight is live able, the da is the best mouse you can buy and should be your core mouse. then buy / try mice from there.
    rocket jump: you should use your review power to get razer to make a light version of the death adder elite, shedding about 10 grams would make this mouse perfect. no change in size, shape or anything else. repeat: no changes to the form of the mouse.... the same mouse but 10 grams lighter.
    imho this should be simple / easy and would give razer a huuuuge sales boost. most who own and love the da would go out
    and get the light version.

    I've had a Razer Mamba for years, and it's always given me grief and I've never been able to pin down exactly why, holding it was always slightly awkward to hold and use, and it ended up causing hand cramps during long play sessions. The deep pocket and the small width of the mouse was causing me issues. I have 19 cm by 12 cm hands. For awhile I thought maybe I was just losing my touch, my reflexes didn't seem as good and my performance in many games dropped. My accuracy became abysmal. After years of using this mouse, it began to act up, random disconnects the mouse just generally being laggy, so my brother gave me his old Steelseries Sensei Blue to tide me over until I could buy a new mouse. The Sensei blue isn't an amazing mouse, but the difference was instantaneous. No more hand cramps, and my in-game performance skyrocketed, I can aim again. In Overwatch as Widowmaker I got a triple kill with headshots insanely quick, I even had one guy accuse me of aim botting. The Razer Deathadder, Mamba, Chroma line mice are not good for large hands, pr, at the very least, wide hands, BEWARE!

    Very pleased with the tracking of this mouse over the past month. Not sure I'm used to the shape still. My hand is quite wide but not especially long, and the back hump is pretty odd coming from a Mionix Avior. Wish that wasn't quite as pronounced, with make it easier for fingertip grippers like myself.

    My hand measures around the same length as yours but my fingers will actually come off the end of the mouse buttons if I put my palm right on the logo. I have to use a more finger tip grip where I leave a bit of space between my palm and the mouse and have my fingers in an arch in order for my fingers not to come over the edge of the mouse buttons. Got the DeathAdder Elite for $25 on Amazon and I'm loving it. I bought a Razer Blade 15 for $1,099 on Prime Day after my 2016 Macbook Pro was stolen in a robbery. I've only used my Razer Blade 15 for school work until recently when I downloaded Steam. This is the only gaming mouse I've ever used, but it's a huge improvement over my Logitech MX Master 2S that I was mainly using for Microsoft Excel and web browsing. My gaming performance on COD and Fortnite is significantly better since using this mouse. My arm, wrist, hand, and fingers don't ache as much after long periods of gaming either. I love being able to customize all the settings for my mouse which wasn't possible with any mouse I've ever used before.
    I highly recommend getting this mouse at $25 if you're looking for a mouse for shooting games. I wouldn't pay the original price of $70-100 for this, but I don't think there's a better deal out there for a gaming mouse.

    Your comprehensive review is what convinced me to buy the DA Elite. I wish my experience had been all positive. I have two issues not covered in your review: (1) The surface of the scroll wheel is quite harsh on the finger. After a while, it feels like I'm using a sea urchin as a scroll wheel. (2) The mouse by default has a distracting color-shifting light show, which requires the cumbersome Synapse account-creation-forcing, online-requiring software to turn off. This last travesty alone makes the DA Elite the last Razer product I ever intend to buy. If Razer can't figure out how to be less self-serving with what should be a simple driver, they don't deserve my patronage.

    I hate to say it, but the Deathadder mice are probably the most comfortable mice I've ever used.
    I've used mice like the Logitech G502 and the Razer Lancehead and both weren't comfortable for my ring finger and made it ache. But for the Deathadders, it fit the shape of my hand perfectly. And I have 19-20 cm hands, which is fairly big, so I thought the Deathadders were perfect for me.
    I've also tried the Steelseries Rival 600 but the sensor seemed to die down after a few months. I've used the Deathadder for a long time and it still works great. It's a damn fine mouse. Definitely worth your attention, I promise.

      Thanks, but the bump test is in the click latency part... that's the "key tests" bit on the right, tested against the G403. On the other side is the reaction time test.

    My only gripe with the DeathAdder chroma was that the rubber grips fell off after 3 weeks. I hope this one doesn't have the same issue

    Hey! I've been wanting a gaming mouse (and to build a pc) for about 3 months. I figured this Christmas I'd start with the mouse, and this review helped me a lot. I did have one question for you, and that is would this mouse fit my hand? I'm only 12 years old so I don't have big hands yet so I was just curious so I don't waste any money. I'm also wondering if you have any good starter PC setups on the channel or just that you know of. Thanks!

    Hey Zy,
    I'd love to see an updated comparison video of your top recommended palm grip mice for large hands. Would you ever considering creating a video like that, comparing the new DeathAdder Elite, EC1-A, and G403? I think a lot of RUclips searches are being done in hopes that these three (updated) mice have been compared to one another. Just a thought and I'd love to see it.
    Thanks!

    I am sorry but I have to disagree with your hand size guide :) grip that you call "palm" is hybrid but not palm at all, because you dont touch mouse by bottom part of your palm. I have exactly same hand size and if I trying fully cover mouse by palm my ring-finger and middle finger stands out from mouse body(for 0.5cm). So i think this shape is better for hand sizes below 17.5 cm for palm grip, around 18-19 cm for claw and other hybrid grips, and most comfortable grip for 20+ cm hands is fingertip.

    I'm a bit worried because I just bought my DA Elite, but the buttons sound different. Right click has a quiter and deeper sound while the left click has a more clicky and loud sound. The front side button is a bit harder to press than the back side button. What should I do?

    He says zowie cables are the best but when I try and move the cable the zowie mouse moves. When I try and bend the zowie cable it pushes back a lot
