    Asterism Church reaction! ruclips.net/video/mZvjFFRfyrI/видео.html

This is the second or third time I've watched this, your first time hearing/seeing Asterism. I can't count the times I watched this fan-phone-video (unusual for me). Haruka's TONE ... she can hold one note and it sounds better than all the notes I have ever played, singularly or in any combination! As a septuagenarian that's ALOT of notes I've played! I enjoy your appreciation for guitar playing/players. I am immodestly obsessed with LOVEBITES actually, and Asterism has become my 'second-to-them' diversion musical focus, thinking how lucky I might be to find myself at a concert where Asterism 'opens' for LOVEBITES (!) Grew up SoCal & late '60s on wherever I've lived > LIVE shows.
I cannot imagine any combination of all those bands that could, would, will surpass what these two bands bring.
Thanks for this enjoyable 'reaction'. I enjoy your LOVEBITES reactions too.
I still play daily, drums & guitar. Non-prolific-composer. Host a 'live jam' 14-track home-studio a couple weekends a month & have 'days' (weeks?) of recordings waiting to be mixed to stereo. (I send the players the raw tracks for their own re-mix interests). This limits my time & resources in "retirement" so can't really do more than one 'extreme obsession' (LOVEBITES.: own all CDs/Blu-rays, 50+ shirts, some vinyl, engraved spoon & fork! You get it. Planning trip to Japan. etc. )
So... Asterism? I'll get some CD's this year, a shirt, at a LIVE show would be ideal &:-)
All 3 are simply phenomenal players, arrangers, composers. I feel fortunate to have become aware of them.
I like that they are instrumental, but apparently have to begin to embrace their vocals too...
I think I'll go watch your reaction you linked here, "Church" ... probably for the second or third time.

Asterism is currently on tour in the US. They were booked a few days ago for an anime show in California. They played to a few thousand people who were thrilled.
They have two more shows in America. On July 9th in Santa Ana and on July 11th in New York. Since the tickets were obviously not selling well, they didn't want to play in front of only 20% full auditoriums, so they gave away free admission for both concerts. So you can go to these great two concerts on July 9 and 11 for free. Asterism thus uses the two concert dates to become better known in the US. That's how it is in Rock N Roll in 2023, people would rather pay $300+ for the 80 year old Stones or the 70+ year old Kiss than $30 for these young guys.🤘 🤘

The adorable Haruka/Hal-Ca started playing at the age of 10, when she got her first guitar for Christmas. At the time of this recording, she was 16, and iirc she wrote this song herself when she was 12. Numbers I find just as impressive as this song. A great story/journey from the first to the last second that puts quite a few blockbusters in the shade. 🔥🤘🏻

Not too bad for a 16 y.o. high schooler on guitar who had homework to do after this set. The bassist at 17 has a custom made, only for him, 7 string bass thanks to ESP. His brother on drums has the job of keeping these 2 beasts in line and in check during every set. Hal-Ca, started guitar at 10 so this is with about 5/6 years of practice. The group have been together since she was 11 (not unusual for Japanese musicians) and they write, arrange and play their fusion of Metal, Hard Rock and Jazz. Only lately has Hal-Ca started singing as they were mainly an instrumental group. Try the SRV Scuttle Buttin played in a small Texas club when they were the same age as here, all of them get some shine time even the drummer, ruclips.net/video/BtB_VrYLRaM/видео.html. Best trio since Cream (1966-68) and frankly they will be better than them before they are done!! No ego wars, clean lifestyle, and total dedication to each and their craft guarantee that. I had the same reaction to Hal-Ca that I had when I saw Hendrix LIVE, just total awed disbelief.

It never gets old listening to this trio. Miyu (pronounced "mee - yoo"), the bass player, has three main basses that I've seen him use. There's the seven-string monster you see here, a five string, and a four string with a bar on it, all three made by ESP. Back on June 2, he posted on Instagram him perfectly covering part of Vah Halen's "Eruption" on that four string. When EVH passed, Asterism covered "Jump" and arranged it in a brilliant way where Miyu nearly steals the show.

It's incredible seeing a 16 year old have an almost Steve Vai mastery of the guitar (I say almost because Vai's been playing for over 50 yrs and is still pioneering techniques). Hal-Ca has his ability to pull out and manipulate any note she wants from the instrument. The talent level of these young Japanese kids is truly amazing!

I saw a Japanese music tv show called J-MELLO & Asterism was one of the guests that day. The announcer asked Haruka how she got to be so good playing guitar. Haruka replied that once she learns a new song, she will then turn off all the lights & play it in the dark, if she makes a mistake she will start over again. Asterism Rocks! I only hope to be able to see them live someday...

Congratulations on finding the best new power trio since (in my opinion) Cream. They are an instrumental power trio from Fukuoka, Japan. They consist of:
    Haruka Noma, guitars (“HAL-CA”)
    Miyu Yoshinaka, bass
    Mio Yoshinaka, drums
They were formed in 2014 when Noma was 11 and the brothers were 12 and 14 respectively. They were all playing at a talent fair for young musicians in their hometown, when one of the music scouts noticed them, had a hunch and suggested they play together. Most of their current youtube catalogue is fan-made live video footage, much of it at the Hard Rock Café in Fukuoka. There are also a few clips from their one tour in the U.S., when they played Austin and Los Angeles. From the start, they have written most of their own music, covering a wide range of styles.
The brothers bring a lot of jazz and funk ideas into their playing. Miyu plays 4,5 and 7-string basses, which are co-lead instruments in his hands. They are all phenomenal talents, but the big draw has been Noma, known by her first name Haruka or by her stage name Hal-Ca. She has been likened to a reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, with bits of Joe Satriani, Nuno Bettencourt and Akira Takasaki, among others, thrown in. Even in the Japanese scene, with its overload of extraordinarily technical instrumentalists, she stands out. She also writes most of the band’s music.
You dove right into the deep end with this one. Other great clips are:
“Rising Moon” (their first professional MV): ruclips.net/video/IfxMi0Bx4x0/видео.html
    “Blaze” (Live): ruclips.net/video/51Pxkp8lGAs/видео.html

One of my favourite J-Rock bands. HAL-CA (Haruka Noma) on guitar, MIYU (Miyu Yoshinaka) on bass, and MIO (Mio Yoshinaka) on drums (Mio & Miyu are brothers). HAL-CA and MIYU are obviously exceptional at what they do, but a big shout out to MIO on drums as well; he easily gets overlooked with guitar and bass playing like this, but he always does a very solid job holding it all together. All three were talented at a very young age, but looking at ASTERISM's progression over time I would say I am most impressed with how much MIO has improved, his creative drum skills have really come to the fore in their later songs. If you like progressive material you should check out their live in studio songs "Church", "Gunfire" etc. from the Guernica album.

Nice reaction. What I do not understand how you can talk about the hair of the musician after such a song. Was that supposed to distract from the fact that she might be more talented than you? One sentence about the drummer, 2 each about the bassist and guitarist. But more about hair and how hard it is to play in a three-piece band.
In general, I hear very rarely in the so-called professionals (musicians, music teachers) a wow, so I would also like to play / sing / compose.
