I love this band. Just found this post, hope it's not too late to post some background info. Asterism are an instrumental power trio from Fukuoka, Japan. They consist of: Haruka Noma, guitars (“HAL-CA”) Miyu Yoshinaka, bass Mio Yoshinaka, drums They were formed in 2014 when Noma was 11 and the brothers were 12 and 14 respectively. They were all playing at a talent fair for young musicians in their hometown, when one of the music scouts noticed them, had a hunch and suggested they play together. Most of their current youtube catalogue is fan-made live video footage, much of it at the Hard Rock Café in Fukuoka. There are also a few clips from their one tour in the U.S., when they played Austin and Los Angeles. They are all phenomenal talents, but the big draw has been Noma, known by her first name Haruka or by her stage name Hal-Ca. She has been likened to a reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan all in one. Even in the Japanese scene, with its overload of extraordinarily technical shredders, she stands out. She also writes most of the band’s music. Miyu is a virtuoso on the bass, plays both 4-string and 7-string, and has his own shred solos in a number of their songs. Best clips to start with are: “Rising Moon” (their first professional MV): ruclips.net/video/IfxMi0Bx4x0/видео.html “Blaze” (Live): ruclips.net/video/51Pxkp8lGAs/видео.html “Light in the Darkness” (Live): ruclips.net/video/QpxNcZoNjVU/видео.html “Yunagi” (Studio live): ruclips.net/video/8Kjntjpnn7U/видео.html “Dawn” (Live): ruclips.net/video/buQPvINJcA0/видео.html To see Haruka practicing at home, these are fun: “Practice Homework”: ruclips.net/video/_Fm9BBwsihw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/KPqpt7pxCoQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/dPvCGHVc4C0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/JtP_o2bOjvA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/JiOeOw_YzMY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/6AoVTmGZAS0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Jd1dwy36poU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/ptTm2KOWt_w/видео.html ruclips.net/video/jFDssmQnn3Y/видео.html ruclips.net/video/oRGzOp-wFt4/видео.html
I have been madly in love for three years now and admire the playing of the most gifted guitarist of the last decade. The solo part in "Dawn" is something unimaginable performed by Hal-Ca at only 16 years old. In my memory, there is not a single guitarist who shows such impressive results at such a young age. Truly, the girl is gifted from Above without measure, and I am only for her.
Not interested in a whos best argument. I love and admire them both as guitarists. Hal-Ca and Tina S are just off the charts as guitarists I enjoy listening to.
@@RonniePeterson I wouldn't compare Hal-Ca and Tina to each other. These are incomparable in terms of personality. Hal-Ca is beyond the reach of many accomplished musicians. This is another, higher level.
Check out Lisa X at 16! I used to say there must be something in the water over there. Then I learned that a serious music education program is mandatory in both elementary and Jr High school in the Japanese education curriculum. These kids put down their saxes, cellos, and pianos when they get to high school and get a drum kit or a guitar/bass and start/join a band. The rest is J-Metal/Rock history.
Great that you going Asterism. I have followed them for some years. Impressive musicians. Should be staple on every larger jazz festivals for years to come
I believe that MIYU's seven stringed bass is from the ESP custom shop. He also has a four (and occasionally a five stringer) that he brings out depending on the song. HAL-CA is rocking her Yamaha Pacifica, which I never really thought of as a Metal guitar before Asterism. That's MIYU's brother MIO on drums. He just caught COVID recently, so they've had to cancel an upcoming show at Shibuya Eggman. Hopefully he'll be back up and fully recovered soon. As technical as they have always been, I really appreciate that they play from the heart, which some shredders don't seem to do. This is a relatively early song, though still great. The composition on the recent 'GUERNICA' and 'GUERNICA + a' mini-albums is a bit more progressive and complicated.
This trio is really impressive. Guitarist Hal-Ca and bassist Miyu are only 20 yrs old now and drummer Miho is a couple years older. Miyu & Mio are brothers. “Dawn” is from their concept album “Guernica + a” which was inspired by Picasso’s painting, Guernica. The band members researched the history behind the painting and came up with the album which is really, really good. As you said, they aren’t just shredders showing off but there’s a lot of melodic sections to their music. By the way, Miyu’s bass is a 7 string that was made especially for him by ESP Guitars. I think Hal-Ca is playing a Yamaha Pacifica in this video. They have started to incorporate some vocals in their music (they all sing) and have done some covers with Maki Oyama.
Sorry to correct you, but Dawn is from their first album "Ignition" from 2018. And Hal-Ca is still 19, born November 23, 2002. All the rest, I'm with you 🙂
@@UltraHD.7 you’re right Ultra. I’ve been commenting on several Asterism reactions and got my wires crossed. When I saw that Hal-ca was moving to Tokyo, I assumed she was already 20.
Meaning she’s only 16 in this video … still surprises me … about a year after that metal god? Bootsy Collins discovered their first release (recorded when she was 14), produced their 2nd and had Buckethead guest on guitar… as mentioned, the brothers “backing” her aren’t significantly older. From this same show, a little contrast, and a LOT of swagger, featuring another star who supports them (even before Bootsy) singer Maki Oyama, covering HalCa’s favorite band Loundness - In The mirror. Fancam, but worth it. ruclips.net/video/3thAXV4laAA/видео.html
For a fan cam video, the audio is good enough, of course the sound a bit out of balance, all depends on fan recording position and recording tool. If you wanna better sound of their live performance, check some live performance videos on ASTERISM official channel
Miyu's 7 string is a bit unique in the fact he went higher instead of lower like a normal 5 string bass would go. That way he can do a few more interesting things instead of the usual bass lines.
Dear Tobias! Greetings from a rainy Shizuoka City! The Tokyo-based male -dominated music industry are lagging when it comes to promoting this particular super talented group for a couple of reasons: First they hail and live in Fukuoka City in the Island of Shikoku, arguably the toughest region inhabited by the toughest people, men and women alike, in Japan. Moreover, for all their very young age they are already veterans. Simply said their following i bigger and more understanding abroad. They do not need Tokyo! We just can't imagine what peaks they will reach. Great fun in store! Best regards, Robert-Gilles
Headbangermusik!
Sorry for being a little bit cut off at some points, unfortunately I couldn't rerecord, since it wouldn't be a genuine reaction anymore😅
Haruka!!! Amazing guitarist at 16, now she’s even better 😮🎸🔥🤟
Thanks for watching my youtube channel✨✨✨

Love Asterism! My favorite song from them is "Church" live session recording. Get to see all 3 shine in that one 😊
UNBELIEVABLE to attain this level of performance and execution at only 16! Haruka is a guitar phenomenon.💪🏻🤘🏻
