Not too bad for high school kids who had homework to do after this set in a small club. That is a custom made ESP 7 string bass made solely for Mihu when he was 17!!!! Hal-Ca is 16 here (started playing at 10) and that is a beat up Yamaha-Pacific she is shredding on, but it is the various influences that set her apart. Poor Mio on drums who is awesome gets to control these 2 beasts and keep them in line on every offering. Independent until recently they have started with vocals (Hal-Ca mostly) but that Prog determination is still there. They did a ton of studio videos for the many fans who helped fund them over the years. I go back to Cream (1966-68) and Clapton, Bruce and Baker will have nothing on these kids when they are through. Lastly, my husband the Hendrix fanatic says she has that same vibe, born to be a rock star and lights up the stage just with her presence.

Some people say that rock is not dead… it just moved to Japan. More outstanding bands from Japan: Lovebites, Nemophila, Band-Maid, Fate gear, Bridear, Unlucky Morpheus, Gacharic spin, Galneryus, Versailles, Whiskey dust, etc.

Thanks for giving these amazing musicians a listen. It's a bass, a seven string bass, thank you very much. He and the drummer are every bit as good musicians as the guitarist as you will see if you choose to explore more by this band. I always feel like I have been through an hour long journey when I listen to this song. Great reaction!

Hi Russ, if they came to Germany I would go to see them right away. My other favourite Japanese rock band is Lovebites ... ok, we can discuss about the singer, but the 4 ladies and their instruments are great ... I described them to a friend as some kind of SlayerPriest 😆 Especially the double lead guitar parts are surely not worse than Tipton/Downing ... what do you think ? 🤘

    welcome to Asterism 🤘🙌
while this particular song is their most ambitious to date , they simply don't have a bad song.
Heads up -- Decide is their first album with vocals (with mixed reviews); everything else is instrumental (which is what the core fans show up for).

One of your colleagues here on YT said it quite aptly. _"Steve Vai must have a granddaughter who is Japanese and was 16 at the time of this recording"_
3 outstanding musicians of a generally phenomenally good generation of musicians that Japan has brought forth in the last decade. There is so much talent over there when it comes to rock/metal that it's no longer funny when you consider how little of it you hear here in the West.
If you want to hear more from them I recommend their track 'Church (Live In Studio)' which you can find on the channel of Asterism.

Congratulations on finding the best new power trio since (in my opinion) Cream. They are from Fukuoka, Japan, and consist of:
    Haruka Noma, guitars (“HAL-CA”)
    Miyu Yoshinaka, bass
    Mio Yoshinaka, drums
They started as an all-instrumental band, and have recently begun adding vocals.
They were formed in 2014 when Noma was 11 and the brothers were 12 and 14 respectively. They were all playing at a talent fair for young musicians in their hometown, when one of the music scouts noticed them, had a hunch and suggested they play together. Most of their current youtube catalogue is fan-made live video footage, much of it at the Hard Rock Café in Fukuoka. There are also a few clips from their one tour in the U.S., when they played Austin and Los Angeles. From the start, they have written most of their own music, covering a wide range of styles.
The brothers bring a lot of jazz and funk ideas into their playing. Miyu plays 4,5 and 7-string basses, which are co-lead instruments in his hands. They are all phenomenal talents, but the big draw has been Noma, known by her first name Haruka or by her stage name Hal-Ca. She has been likened to a reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, with bits of Joe Satriani, Nuno Bettencourt and Akira Takasaki, among others, thrown in. Even in the Japanese scene, with its overload of extraordinarily technical instrumentalists, she stands out. She also writes most of the band’s music.
Best clips to start with are:
“Rising Moon” (their first professional MV): ruclips.net/video/IfxMi0Bx4x0/видео.html

Wonderful country, Japan - lots of things that you will not see (or hear) anywhere else in the world. From the first bass note here, you can tell they know what they're doing. I'm not a huge fan of this sort of aimless shredding but good luck to them.
