Just keep in mind that Hal-Ca, the lead guitarist, was only 16 years old when this was filmed. She picked up a guitar when she was 10, so she was only playing the guitar for about 6 years at that time. If you don't find that mind-blowing, nothing will.
You're forgetting the forget 2 on this band who were 17 and 18....
The most amazing thing about this trio is that the song was performed when Hal Ca, the lead guitarist was 16 years old, Miyu, the bassist was 17 years old, and Mio, the drummer, was 18 years old. They are not only talented but display a musical maturity unlike anyone I have heard at their age.
It is not only the performance that is noteworthy, but also the musical talent that she and they composed, arranged and assembled this song by themselves at the age of about 15 that deserves more recognition!

Oh yeah!!! Faces melted!! Yeah SO much talent there!! Her name is Hal-Ca..The bassist is Miyu and the drummer is Mio...They are actually brothers...Hal-Ca and Miyu are both about 17 here and Mio the drummer is 3 years older so he is 20 here ...

I would recommend you check out their song "Church" (the live in the studio version), next. Oh, and just a clarification of what some others have said: The guitarist calls herself Hal-Ca, but it's actually pronounced "Haruka", which is her real name.
I guess it's really the other way around though. Her name is Haruka, but she goes by Hal-Ca because that is how it's pronounced. To stop foreigners from calling her HarOOOka all the time 🙂
@@egodreas I think it´s really not that easy with the japanese "l" and "r" "thing". So you both may be right, or may be not 😉
I tend to call her Haruka, with stressing the first syllable, but who knows...

HAL-CA is one of very few guitarist who can tell a story with a guitar.
The control and guitar/bass tones that both HAL-CA (guitar) and MIYU (bass) display at such a young age is quite exceptional.

They are one of my top young 5 bands . Others are from Canada, Australia , Ukraine, and Romania. You mentioned that you heard a lot of incredible metal bands from Japan. I am curious of who else there is at this level
I hope you guys get to see ASTERISM live some day soon. I got to see them up close and personal like in this video earlier in 2023. They are the real deal - real rock stars as well as killer musicians. And, with Haruka now singing, too, they're even more fun to listen to. With the support of channels like yours, they're starting to get the recognition they deserve, and we can hope to have them grace North America again soon.
Hal Ca only started playing at 10 years old. By 12 she wrote the song Rising Moon. Which became their first MV 3 years later. She was almost to God Tier when she wrote it at 12. And reached God tier a few years later. Anyone that hasn't heard it should go check it out. Miyu has a solo on bass will blow your mind. Then his brother Mio tries to out do him with a killer Drum solo.

I watched a Japanese music show & Asterism was one of the guests. The host asked Hal-Ca(lead guitarist) how she became so talented?. Hal-Ca replied, that whenever she learns a new song, she turns off all the lights in her room & plays it in the dark. If she makes a mistake, she starts all over from the beginning.
Saw them in Santa Ana last month.
That is some Eddie Van Halen style guitar playing. Truely awesome talent.
They were only 16, 17 18 yrs/o at this time, and the bassist got his special 7string bass made only for him by ESP....

Haruka (Hal-Ca) Noma, lead guitar and vocals, born 11/23/2002
Miyu Yoshinaka, bass, born 3/12/2002
Mio Yoshinaka, drums, born 11/14/1999
All started playing at a young age (Haruka at 10, Mio and Miyu at 6-8). They all attended the Yamaha Music Foundation school in Fukuoka. They originally performed separately (Mio and Miyu, Haruka) but were put together to perform in the annual Yamaha Music Revolution competition in 2014.
They played several festivals and competed in various music competitions until the release of their first EP, The Session Vol. 1, in 2017. It included three covers and two original songs (155 and Magic Bullet) both written by Haruka. She wrote 155 when she was 11 and they can be seen playing it in this video ruclips.net/video/2gBCmUWqtJU/видео.html when they were 11, 11 and 13. Their second EP, the Session Vol. 2 was released a year later and included two more original songs (Rising Moon and Yunagi). Their first full length album, Ignition, was also released in 2018 and included seven original songs and two covers. All the original songs on these EPs and album were written by Haruka between the ages of 11 and 15. Ignition is mostly traditional hard rock and metal and includes Dawn, Blaze and Light in the Darkness. The fancam videos of Dawn, at Club Utero, and Blaze and Light in the Darkness, at Fukuoka Graf (Welcome to Inferno Vol. Max), are classics. They toured Asia and the US supporting the release of Ignition. They produced a series of live in studio performances of most of these songs (battle sessions and 360 videos) and all are available on RUclips.
They next released an EP (Guernica) and then a full-length album extension of the EP (Guernica+a) in 2020. These releases marked a change in style to a more progressive metal/rock sound and includes classics such as Church and Gunfire. All the songs on these releases are original songs. They did live in studio performances of almost all the songs on Guernica+a and these are available on RUclips.
Asterism is perhaps best before a live audience. Haruka has amazing charisma and stage presence for anyone, not to mention for a small (under 5’ tall) Japanese woman. She plays with skill, soul and a ferocious attitude, and a smile on her face almost the whole time.
Most recently Asterism has released an album of anime song covers (Animetic), an extended version of that album with the singer PelleK providing vocals and an EP of original songs with Haruka on vocals called Aside. There are official music videos of most of the songs on Animetic. They play frequently at clubs in Tokyo and did a small US tour with shows in LA and NYC and performances on the street in Venice Beach and Hollywood Blvd.
Haruka particularly has a significant presence on social media with an active Instagram channel and her own RUclips channel. She frequently posts playthroughs of their own songs and a lot of covers.

• 155 (RH in 2014) - see one of their earliest performances of one of their first original songs
• Rising Moon (Official MV) - a well-produced music video of one of their other early songs

• Church and/or Gunfire (live in studio) - professionally produced live in studio performances.
• Scuttle Buttin’ (SRV cover) - fancam of a SRV cover with their own flavor
• Unravel (official MV) - professionally produced music video of an anime cover off of Animetic
• Fiction (official MV) - first official MV of a song with Haruka vocals
There are tons of other videos of live performances and several additional live in studio and fan cam videos. Just about anything by Asterism is fantastic.

Not bad especially since both Hal-Ca (16) guitar and Miyu (17) bass (it is a custom made ESP for him alone at 17!!!!!) both had homework to do after this set. They have been together since Hal-Ca was 11 and write, arrange and play all their own music. Talent that rivals Cream (1966-68, Clapton, Bruce and Baker) and will surpass them before they are done. Hal-Ca is been on guitar 6 years here and she gives me the Hendrix vibe and stunned me just as much as Jimi did when I saw him live twice in concert, she is that amazing. This group is dedicated to each other, their music and their craft. Their early music from 2018 was more Metal/Rock/Jazz fusion and they are now more progressive with Hal-Ca actually doing vocals, which I don't mind but don't care about as their instruments do all the singing needed.
Well done guys. Great choice. Super expressive musicians so young. There are a few with guest singer but prefer the instrumentals.
Get ready to be mind blown!
