I just found Ellen's channel a couple of days ago and I am astonished! When I saw the videos with Ellen and her dad, it became so clear where her talent and passion stems from. This kid is the real deal and is blessed with talent and sound guidance from home! Follow the dream!
I'm 48 and 5 years into learning bass and if I EVER get to a point where this kid is, it would be a miracle. This kid won the talent lottery. For the rest of us schlubs, it's hard work and hoping the rest of the band plays real loud.
First time watcher, long time basser. Uhh... this young one is the light of the world. I could write paragraphs, but all I will say is that she will be the inspiration for generations. I hope you never lose your enthusiasm/spirit, no matter what you choose to do. And good job dad.
She is definitely a prodigy! 99.9% of all kids her age can't even come close to her level of talent. My favorite part about her is how absolutely cute and adorable she is!
I think It's a little more than that. There are lots of people who practice and never get this good so quick. This girl has not even been on in this world that long and she's playing better than many professionals. it's more than practice. She see's now what many don't see till later in their life. And sometimes some never see it ever. Her level of attention and ability to comprehend and absorb is astonishing.
Oh the fretless bass, what a sound. I think of the bass line to Whereever I lay my hat by Paul Young, Mick Karn's bass lines from Japan and The Cure's Love cats

I listen and look at Ellen playing the bass whenever I need some happiness and laughter in my mind. Ellen is not only a genius bassplayer and musician, she has the most infectious smile and humor. I love Your way of being Ellen😄 You bring sunshine in our dark season here in Denmark ❤
Most of the younger musical phenoms you see on RUclips have technical skills on their instruments that seem far beyond their years, and Ellen is no exception. But more impressively in my opinion, Ellen's "feel" for the music and the vibe of the songs is just terrific! The playing of some young musical wizards can seem a little cold or sterile, because they're playing it much more than they're *_feeling_* it. Not so with Ellen! She is definitely doing both!! 👍🏼
Hi sweet lady - I have to tell you that I am so inspired by your playing that I have decided to dedicate 2024 to learning bass. I am 77 years old (been playing drums for many years and play in 3 local big bands currently) - your performances bring new life to the bass - stay safe and thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent. 💜 (Pete)
This young lady is amazing! I too started playing at around your age. But make no mistake, you are better than I ever was at the same age. I am now 62 years old and after tours and albums, I find myself doing it for fun. You, on the other hand, have a special talent for the bass that you cannot throw away! What I love about her videos, aside from her talents and sweet disposition, is that she actually enjoys playing a wide range of musical genres and tastes!
Not only is she a little cutie, but she plays the bass like a professional. I love her upbeat, personality and all the smiles. She has great job. Keep up the good work.

I put my bass down at around 19 after a traumatic injury that started my long battle with depression for more than 30 years. I was doing great, then all of a sudden... I'm still going through "stuff" 35 years later because I never got treatment for the mental trauma, but I'm hoping to finally put it behind me, and get some notes in front of me, but it will be an upright bass this time, which I've been researching. To the dad, your daughter is inspiring many people, and she is also preserving and saving classic Rock n Roll, and she has lots of appreciation for that!😊
@OTRTrader, I wish you well in your journey to rediscover the bass & I hope that you are able to get the treatment for your mental trauma that was not forthcoming after your traumatic accident. Good luck for the future. All the very best. ❤🎸
WOW!!!! She thumps that bass like an old pro!!! Yes the Pink Panther theme is a Bassline, my dad was a bassist and played it all of the time for us as kids. Thank you for awakening that memory!!! You are a very talented young lady
This girl is amazing! Very talented! I see that she is having a great deal of fun playing as well as people way older. Let her have fun and become one of the best. She is on her way.
I dare any musician to even try on a fretless. I play acoustic guitar ( over 30 years) and fretless just make me look like I don't know how to play. I can't hit notes dead on every time. Close. Ya I learn and get better but fretless really separate a natural born player. Ellen is Bass period.
Ellen, you just keep getting better and better! For you to do some of these lines with such small hands is IMPRESSIVE! As you grow (and your hands grow) the fingering skills you're mastering now will make you able to do even more amazing things! I can't wait to watch you play 5, 10 even 15 years from now... you're gonna' be one of the greats!
Wow, fretless bass, bass ukulele and you are mastering everything from finger picking to slapping. You're a real queen of the groove. Thank you so much for the music and all the smiles that light up the day and fill the heart with love.
Very impressive. I've been a bassist for 34 years and I haven't even tried to play a victor Wooten song. It's refreshing to see a member of the younger generation playing an instrument especially the bass
Ellen, you are phenomenally talented, and a real joy to listen to! And please, please, please do not lose your great spirit and humility. I wish you the utmost success!

That fretless bass is very unusual. The fingerboard goes all the way to the bridge and beyond. It has no magnetic pickups and three controls, so it probably has a piezo pickup and maybe a microphone inside the hollow body.
Hi Ellen, I am totally blown away to see you are now mastering the fretless bass! I can't wait for you to grow some more and be able to play on a double bass! Haha! Please keep your videos coming. They always make me feel so happy! ♥♥👏👏👻👻
Ellen, you are a tremendous inspiration. The joy you bring to your performance reminds me of why I started playing music many decades ago. Thank you to you and your dad for bringing us such great content.
I am learning bass at 60 after playing acoustic guitar for many years and am flabbergasted at your brilliant level and progress. Cheers and much praise and celebration to you Ellen 😊❤
Such a beautiful, bubbly young bassist! I've been playing bass for 46 years (yes, I'm that old!) and I truly appreciate your attitude, humor, and of course bass skills! I clicked on this expecting some gimmicky bass lines, but you have skill. In a few more years you'll be untouchable! Stay the course and best of luck with your future!
Such a joy to watch and listen to Ellen. God bless her and her dad who put her on this amazing path. Often I will point out a song to my two daughters; stating that this is a real musician, with real instruments in a real sound studio that spent many years honing their craft.
Little Ellen, you are just awesome and a delight to hear you play bass. Your bass guitars just comes alive when you play them. Especially, when you smile and laugh, because you have adults that aren't as good as you, especially at your age in your life . Anyhow, keep having fun, and I am sure we will all be watching you on the big stage in the near future!!! Thanks for a wonderful moment in the bass guitar World!!!
You made this old guy's day by playing Pink Panther and Barney Miller themes! Your playing has really become first rate little girl. And, the best part is that we can feel the love you have for playing. Keep it fun, keep on rockin' and.... Peace!!
Every time I watch a new video of you, my mouth stays open... Your talent is incredible and your bass playing is out of this world. You have been sent from heaven to the bass player community 🤩
Ellen - thank you! Your videos inspired me to go back to my parents’ this weekend and bring my old bass guitar to my flat in London. I used to play it for hours each day when I was a teenager (I’m now almost 30!) and watching you play these songs with such amazing feel reminded me how much the instrument meant to me. I can’t wait to reconnect with it after 10+ years. You’re truly a joy to watch and I’m looking forward to following the channel!
I hope you are an unstoppable bass guitarist force. Keep on keepin' on ! I always love it when young people take on instruments. I worked with School of Rock in NYC helping with Prog songs. Got to see their final performance. Couldn't get the smile off my face. Rock on, Ellen !
How refreshing to see her embrace classics! Hope to hear more. Rutherford, Levine, Sting .....so many great rhythm makers hanging on the side of the stage!
So much to say about Ellen's play and passion, but what I most loved was the cool Dad and daughter relationship. So important to be a huge part of our childrens life teaching them most importantly how to enjoy life and be good mentors to them. Good job pops.
hello Ellen and dad I find it wonderful the way your dad gives you music lessons you don't just learn to play but you learn the history of music at the same time and above all you have fun well done Dad 👋👋
Not only are you becoming an excellent bass player but you have a personality .. the combination will open so many doors for you,,, you are well on your way to fame,,,, keep it up young lady,,,, ❤
Cheered me up on a blue morning! So thankful that you still play with pure JOY. Had no idea you even had a fretless bass - hats off to anyone playing a fretless instrument, but you already play with aplomb. You continue to amaze me every time. When are we going to hear another song with you and dad? Thanks again for sharing with us.🤩
Minor correction: Tony Levin wasn’t a founding member of King Crimson. He was part of Robert Fripp’s new version of King Crimson launched in 1981, though. (With Fripp and Adrian Belew on guitar, and previous lineup of KC holdover Bill Bruford on drums, this four-piece was one of the best bands of all time.) Your playing is fantastic, by the way! And your joy and enthusiasm are absolutely infectious. Also blown away by your knowledge. Keep up the great work!

Nothing’s better than the smile of someone loving to play music!!!
Be Strong! Stay Cool. Play .
I like that she's always giggling, I'm sure that she's a joy to work with. She plays wonderfully. I always enjoy listening.
😮 You played that 5 string fretless like a bass veteran. Wow Ellen, just wow. Top 10 new songs you wanna tackle? Rock on Ellen! 🤘
I dare any musician to even try on a fretless. I play acoustic guitar ( over 30 years) and fretless just make me look like I don't know how to play. I can't hit notes dead on every time. Close. Ya I learn and get better but fretless really separate a natural born player. Ellen is Bass period.
I am so speechless I can’t stop blabbering! Music will be your life, you’ve been chosen!
Very impressive playing. The fretless, the tone and the Wooten licks especially blew me away. Great job!
Thank you so much!
Have you ever played a stand-up bass?
@@EllenPlaysBass❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, fretless bass, bass ukulele and you are mastering everything from finger picking to slapping. You're a real queen of the groove. Thank you so much for the music and all the smiles that light up the day and fill the heart with love.
Dear Ellen, I am 68 years old and I know all of these songs from back in the day. You play them fantastically. Keep it up and have so much fun.
I dunno whether I am always taken by your cuteness factor or your contagious smile & laughter, or blown away by your awesome bass playing, but way to go! Good job on the popular bass lines! Papa must be so proud!!!
I had no idea, but I needed this video in my life! Pure talent and that smile of joy! Just amazing.
This young lady has a future in music. So proud to just be able to listen to her.
It's always such a pleasure to watch your videos! I was young once, and into anything brass and loud! I played with bands, orchestras and everyone I could, because for me the pleasure lay in working with others. Keep practicing, never give up, keep reaching for the stars - and you will achieve everything you want. Good work dad!
Ellen you are one Awesome Bass Player and so fabulous to hear!!!🎸⭐❤️
You are a talented young lady. I love the pure joy on your face as you demonstrate mastery of these lines!
Fantastic as always it is a true joy to watch you play and smile. It's amazing how far you have come in such a short time as always thanks for the post
Her musical skill and ability are impressive. Her personality makes the video incredible. What a great job that was awesome. Best video I've seen.
One word...OUTSTANDING. You make playing the base look so easy.
This is so amazing. What a joy to see and hear Elen play the bass. God bless you!!
Wow!! Playing a 5-string fretless bass is impressive! Great job Ellen. Always enjoy listening and watching you play. Amazing as always.!
Thank you ❤️
It's got such a thick tone too.
Silly love songs please
Not just a 5 string, but an adult sized 5 string. Her hands haven't even fully developed yet. This sweet little girl is going to be going places.
@@EllenPlaysBassHey sweety as soon as you can watch the videos for Liliac also watch the video for Hurricane by Cannons and Typhoons live by Royal Blood.
Seeing you find your notes so easily on a “fretless” is just fantastic!
Love from France and ... peace on Armenia !
I'm completely enchanted by this girl! So much talent and friendliness! I just subscribed to this channel, and shared it with friends who, like me, love watching and admiring these early gems. Congratulations Ellen! You've gained a true fan!
Ur bass playing brings light to our world. TY. What a great father u hv. I love ur giggle also. Keep playin that bass u inspiration u.
I have to say I can not wipe the smile off my face watching you play and with so much joy while playing, thank you, you make my day 🙂
This fretless 5string is so nice.
Your playing is fascinating. 🎉
All I can say is WOW WOW WOW. You are amazing!! Stumbled across your videos and I am blown away by your talent. Well done
Girl, you make my day everyday. Love it, love you for the moments your giving me with a big smile...me as a nobody...im proud of you
Ellen, your energy is so uplifting and contagious. You and your father really deliver such great material. Keep it up. Best wishes always! 👍👍
That smile and laughter is so contagious! My cheeks get tired watching Ellen have fun!
Nice that she's learning a bit of the history and players. I hope she always keeps her youthful exuberance.
You, young lady, are a trip!! Very impressive. My guess is that you already know that that bass playing can take you places. Don't stop practicing!
I hope you keep your passion for the Bass!! You're a super talented young girl! Keep doing what you do!!
Ellen is a golden treasure - in all respects and from my deep heart.
This little blast of joy is just what I needed tonight. Thanks, Ellen!
I just love how happy she seems as she is playing!
Dad is a fine guitar player as well. I suppose he needed a bass player so he grew his own! She is super talented
You are amazing Ellen! It blew my mind when you played the fretless base. Keep up the good work! 🎸
Thank you!
Not only are you becoming an excellent bass player but you have a personality .. the combination will open so many doors for you,,, you are well on your way to fame,,,, keep it up young lady,,,, ❤
I have to watch again. Love, love, this. So great to see younguns’ enjoying music. She is great on the bass.
(With Fripp and Adrian Belew on guitar, and previous lineup of KC holdover Bill Bruford on drums, this four-piece was one of the best bands of all time.)
Your playing is fantastic, by the way! And your joy and enthusiasm are absolutely infectious. Also blown away by your knowledge. Keep up the great work!
Incredible! And you’re not even using a bass strap. You are a rock star! ❤🎸👋
