    You pie looks amazing and I'm looking forward to trying your crust recipe. I've never seen anything called, "Mixed Spice", but have used "Apple Pie Spice", which contains cinnamon, nutmeg & ginger, is this the same as Mixed Spice?

    • @JillianButler
      @JillianButler  6 лет назад

      Hi redhotsweetpotatoe (cute name btw!) Yes! You can use any kind of spice mix such as pumpkin pie spice, apple pie spice, chai spices, etc....as long as it has spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, allspice, etc then it'll be fine. Good luck!

    AWESOME! But since you did not cook your apples first, why do you not have a gap between the crust and the apples?

    Just discovered your youtube videos and subscribed. Wondering.........The apples are sliced thin correct. Reason, sometimes it takes more baking to get the apples cooked. Have you ever heard of precooking the apples a little before placing the slices in the crust?

    • @JillianButler
      @JillianButler  5 лет назад

      Hi Ines, the apples are fairly thin, I'd estimate approximately 3-4mm in thickness (1/8") and because I use the crispy granny smith apples, they could stand to be pre-cooked a tad. But then the final product would look completely different. It would be a little lower and also the apples would be less crunchy. But go ahead and try it and tell me how it works. Hope this helps!

    Super Sumptuous it looks .... Other than that I really liked the reason behind using disposable dish and wondering why I never had this idea ....believe or not this happened with me many times and people were like "I wont be running away or leaving the city " Quite awkward eh :D ... ( I do bake occasionally for friends and regularly for myself apart from my work ) . The cakery tour will be cool , do that please :D. Thanks for this video and life (dish) saving tip :P

    I tried your pie but there is so much liquid juice why is that?

  • @coderspy
    @coderspy 6 лет назад +2

    Best? No! The Granny Smith apples ruin it. The firm apple varieties always taste like some kind of tart pear rather than apples when baked. A good baking apple like Cortland or McIntosh tastes much better in a pie and the apples get very soft when baked. The firm ones still have the taste and texture of a raw apple no matter how long you bake them.
