How in the holy hell are all these people making this sauce and not having it turn into a big gloppy mess? I just made it three times and wasted so many ingredients on it. Making an apple pie has always been on my bucket list, and this recipe was super easy! I used store bought pie crust because I was in a rush (single, working mom syndrome), and it tasted great! I used gala apples, and it was a tad too sweet, so I’m going to reduce the sugar when I make it again today for Thanksgiving. Is there a reason why I should use unsalted butter? I bought salted butter in bulk and used that last time, and it seemed fine. Happy Thanksgiving!

And for those who don’t have (or can’t make) the pie crust, I tried another recipe and it turned out good as well, cuz the important thing is the filling.
Mix 2 eggs with 100 gr sugar, add 200-250 gr melted butter and mix again. Then add baking powder (or soda), vanilla and flour and stir with a big spoon. Add flour gradually until it is a normal dough. Then cut it into 2 pieces, one is slightly bigger than the other. Put the smaller half into the freezer to get firm, cuz you will grate it. Put just a little oil or soft butter into the pan so it won’t stick, spread the bigger half with your hands, add the filling, then grate the smaller half, but be sure to press with your hands on the grated area, or it will get burned.

    Update:
Instead of 3Tbsp AP flour and 1/4 cup water. I used 3Tbsp of cornstarch combined with 4-5 Tbsp of water.
I also combined the melted butter and sugar first then added the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce. I find this to much more stable. Hope this helps
