I don't know if it's too basic for you, Uncle Ben, but I would be very happy about a lesson that shows how you can build up your 16th alternate picking skills so one is able to play the super fast 16th rhythm sections in e.g. Metallica's Disposable Heroes, Trapped Under Ice or Whiplash with a tight picking sound.
Would love a lesson on how you learn low metal riffs with palm muting, or any speed picking aka slayer or Gojira. Sometimes it’s tough to tell what fret they are playing with high gain and muting.
I understand what you meant by doubling up on pattern two now. When I first watched the video I didn't have my guitar with me. Very nice little addition. Thank you.
Really great lesson. I'm working hard to break out of the pentatonic box. Even though I've only been playing for 4 months, I push myself every day to add on to what I've already learned. I transcribe it off the video, type it up on my computer and practice it each day. I just keep adding on. Hopefully it'll all come together. Way to go. By the way, I've never tried tapping but I'm going to try it on that 19th, 19th and 20th fret.
As always thanks for the videos Ben. I've been playing with these shapes today and I've made some noises that sounded surprisingly good and refreshingly different from the noise I usually make!
This lesson was so awesome. Thank you for mentioning Dweezel Zappa. He is amazing. I would say this instructor is pretty God Damn good as well. What I really appreciate is the string and the fret numbers so that it was easy for me to transcribe. I don't know if I'll ever see the speed this gentleman has, but for now I'll go for accuracy. Great lesson!
Thanks Uncle Ben. You're one of the best guitar teachers on the planet. Now that I'm about to be employed again, I'll rejoin patreon, so I can fully expand my Panasonic learning! Great video man, thank you!
Coincidentally, I'm currently writing a solo that has some pentatonic shredding involved. I was stuck in the Panasonic box, this lesson gave me some ideas on how to spice it up. Thanks Uncle Ben.
That was an awesome lesson, Ben! I am 54 years old and have been playing since I was 14 (figure that one out with your homeschool math 😊.... jk.... my ex wife homeschooled all four of our kids... anyway, your lessons are proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks! Keep rockin’, Uncle Ben!! 👊
Thanks Ben... I’ve been stuck in this box for sooo long but enough talk about being stuck in the house 😳😉Thanks for the info👍 Edit: For those that may misread my post, I wasn’t referring to Ben talking. Just that I was talking about being stuck at home.
Off to practice. Oh......and grow a goatee. Ima go ahead and do the patreon thing. I feel like I'm missing out on some stellar content. Thanks, Uncle Ben, for for guidance. 🎸🤙
Love this! All but the last one seem to be out of the Paul Gilbert playbook and the last coming from the Reb Beach playbook. All great stuff and now, time to grab my fiddle!
Solid video, I've seen/used that 3/1 note version of the G pentatonic shape, but you explained it way better than I've seen before. String skipping practice licks would be cool. Maybe some more expensive chord wisdom. Your content is much appreciated bro.
As always, great lesson. Crazy how you continue to blow my mind every week with these videos. You get my sticker of approval... for whatever it's worth lmao
Man, I swear it's like all guitar players myself included are born in the box. This is the definition of a public service uncle Ben, thanks! Also, that stubble is looking sweet, sure wish my biological dad could grow a beard...
Ben, Could you please show us the little licks and stuff you add lib to the lesson patterns they sound so neat but hard to slow down the video to see them. Thank you for all your help!!
The easiest way to break out of the box is to not put yourself in there in the first place. It's like being unhappy with your life, while your stepdad has you locked in the basement. Fortunately for you, his dumbass left the keys about. You can't break out of this prison all alone.... lucky for you, Uncle Ben stopped by.
The 3-1-3 pattern a cool too but what's really funky is 2 pentatonic-3 diatonic, as an excercise. It will really mess with your head and picking. Andy Timmons has a sequence of 3 pentatonic - cascade 4 diatonic, then cascade that pattern which is cool too
It's awesome! This pattern is great. Also, I've been practising the chromatic alternate picking exercise for the last week, the results are clear already. And here's supposed to be a joke about my stepdad, but I suck at them lol
Excellent work! As expected! Say, have you heard that stunning solo on "See See Rider" at the 1973 "Aloha from Hawaii" Elvis Presley concert? What a great picking! Wonder if I would ever be able to play this. Cheers from Germany.
Great lesson thanks! Teach us minor pent. Freaks how to speed up! People like Alvin Lee, Angus Young, Etc. Have there own little speed tricks thats What I need to develop!
Question please:. To double up or take the three note portion and double up to six, can you give me an example with fret numbers? For example, on the E string you go 10, 12, then on the a string 10, 12, 14, then on the d string, what are the next three? I can slow it down and figure it out. Great lesson. Thank you so much. I've only been playing 4 months but I work really hard at it. It's my dream to be able to solo and this is a nice step away from the pentatonic box.
Great stuff, Ben! There is one thing about those 4-NPS tapping stuff, that always throws me off: the timing/rhythm. Do you normally play such things with a straight "shifting" rhythm or is it some kind of odd rhythm, in order to land on the beat(s)? Cheers! :)
thanks for learning these crazy minor pentatonic shapes with me! What do you want to learn next?!
Those crazy legato + tapped patterns!
Ben Eller Could you perhaps teach us some Altitudes from Becker Papa Ben?
Maybe something about allan holdsworth's note choice or chords. Or some intronaut stuff. This was a really good lesson btw, one of my favorites
Would love a lesson on how you learn low metal riffs with palm muting, or any speed picking aka slayer or Gojira. Sometimes it’s tough to tell what fret they are playing with high gain and muting.
The uncle we need and the hero we deserve.
Uncle Ben has the most creative, funny and thorough lessons that are perfect for intermediate guitarists. Thanks Uncle Ben, very cool.
I understand what you meant by doubling up on pattern two now. When I first watched the video I didn't have my guitar with me. Very nice little addition. Thank you.
I am so grateful for your lessons . your teaching style is really awesome .Thank you!!!

I never stop learning from you just awesome thank you
that 4nps tapping shape is gnarly, love it
This is literally the best guitar lesson I've had in 20 years' playing. This is going to change everything!
Wow this is new to me. Thanks Uncle Ben. This is what I've been looking for.
300 000 subscribers, congratulations Benny boy!!

Another great lesson Uncle Ben. Congratulations on 300,000 subscribers!
Looking great, Uncle Ben - and an informative pleasure as always.
So sweet. This is so helpful for getting out of the pentatonic rut.
This gentleman is not a speed demon. He's a speed angel. I'll be happy if I can pick up half this gentleman's speed.
This blew my godamn mind!
Wow this is a great way to look at it.
This is an awesome lesson. Thanks uncle Ben!
As always thanks for the videos Ben. I've been playing with these shapes today and I've made some noises that sounded surprisingly good and refreshingly different from the noise I usually make!
there are many teachers on youtube... but this guy make it easy to understand...

Excellent tips! Thanks man!
Super cool ideas, as always!
Great lesson Ben. Love it!
it would be really great to see you shred-noodling through different scales, freestyling on the fretboard.

Thanks nephew Ben
Damn, this is sooo useful for "position 1 box guy" over here (....me)
Off to practice. Oh......and grow a goatee. Ima go ahead and do the patreon thing. I feel like I'm missing out on some stellar content. Thanks, Uncle Ben, for for guidance. 🎸🤙
Nice one Ben! This one is a fun lesson that won't bust brain cells!
Love this! All but the last one seem to be out of the Paul Gilbert playbook and the last coming from the Reb Beach playbook. All great stuff and now, time to grab my fiddle!
Mindblowing
mind blowing.....i have been a 585757575858 box prisoner for 3 years. finally i am free

Whooooooa uncle ben I'm in a dad rock/country band I don't believe in this devil sorcery playing past the 15th fret nonsense 🤨🤨
The Southern Creek Band there’s no money to be made up there, but it sure is fun hahaha
Wuss
best teacher for me . thanks!
Cheers, Uncle Ben!
I too enjoy the cranberry lime bubble water.
that suhr is hella dank
This is great stuff, thank you!
Man, I swear it's like all guitar players myself included are born in the box. This is the definition of a public service uncle Ben, thanks! Also, that stubble is looking sweet, sure wish my biological dad could grow a beard...

Awesome video Ben can you teach how a lesson on how to play continuous (longer) lead lines?

Uncle Ben annex's a note.
Crimea has entered the chat.
When everyone’s complaining about not being able to get a haircut, but us guitarists weren’t cutting our hair anyway.
It's awesome! This pattern is great. Also, I've been practising the chromatic alternate picking exercise for the last week, the results are clear already. And here's supposed to be a joke about my stepdad, but I suck at them lol
Awesome vid, got sub
Good stuff! Thx! 👍🏽
That tapping lick at 10:55 is nasty:)
Good ol' uncle Ben
i really like your videos and explanations... it all seems to make sense... now i only have to hit the correct string without looking -.-'
Excellent work! As expected! Say, have you heard that stunning solo on "See See Rider" at the 1973 "Aloha from Hawaii" Elvis Presley concert? What a great picking! Wonder if I would ever be able to play this. Cheers from Germany.
hey this is great stuff, hadn't thought about doing that. I can help you out digitizing the example tabs if you want.
Great lesson thanks! Teach us minor pent. Freaks how to speed up! People like Alvin Lee, Angus Young, Etc. Have there own little speed tricks thats What I need to develop!
luv your site BUT dude where did you get the ghost action figure to your right?? lol . want one....
PastaTuna Scale Mastery!
This is most good
That may be a minor Panasonic scale, but I hear a great deal of Sony influence there. 😂
Great lesson and great tone for practicing. Would you upload this AXE III preset? Thanks!
the catatonic scale please!
Question please:. To double up or take the three note portion and double up to six, can you give me an example with fret numbers? Z-bebe-Z Top beard in the works
Damn you’re good! What gauge strings are you using and how is your action set? You make it look so effortless.
Thanks! I’m a 9-42 guy. Action is pretty low.
Great stuff, Ben! There is one thing about those 4-NPS tapping stuff, that always throws me off: the timing/rhythm. Do you normally play such things with a straight "shifting" rhythm or is it some kind of odd rhythm, in order to land on the beat(s)? Cheers! :)
this is what im talkin about
I'm watching bearded Uncle Ben, now I know I am in some parallel reality.
Great stuff....maybe play them with a triplet feel😎
Groups of 15 notes = 5 triplets
Dat Ghost figurine...
