Interested to know which YOU prefer?
Apex Detail d300. I’d love to see the difference between foam and MF pads for that particular pad
Turtle Wax does the work of both Megs Ultimate polishes....so TW.
Having used both, I prefer the Meg's for 2 reasons.
1) I like the thicker consistency of the Meg's. It is easier and faster to apply to the pad.
2) Meg's has a better cap on the bottle.
Real close either would work great, but if I have to pick I’d say megs for easier wipe off.
What about griots complete compound/polish? Interested in your opinion
MUC is unreal for oxidation. Did a 80s car , the paint looked like sea glass and it brought that shine back like a mirror!
Try mothers 3 in one polish it's even better
On my black show car nothing has ever worked better than Ultimate compound. I only use this product and Mequires #7 for the show car finish. Perfect every time. No wax ever.
M products used to be a step above. That can no longer be said. TW has really stepped up there game with all the ICE products.
Still not sure how you keep making these videos and have a somewhat normal life but I'm glad you do.
I am a night person! 🙂🤘
@@apexdetail85 I work midnights.. I can appreciate that lol
He probably loves what he dose for a living. And you know what they say when you love what you do for a living you don’t work a day in your life.
Brian, you throughly test so many products we are very thankful to you for sharing your knowledge and helping us choose the products that offer good value in performance and cost. 👍🏻👍🏻
MUC serves a specific purpose for me - when I want to remove light oxidation with an orange pad on pre-water based paint without taking off any more clearcoat than I wanted to. I actually do not want more cut, and it finishes down to a level that makes you ask yourself if you even want to bother with the light final polish (you do if you plan to benefit from any fillers).
If I need more cut it's straight to Sonax, with the understanding it can't pass as well for a single pass product. Even then a yellow pad with MUC gets close to the performance.
My current process for decent condition paint is MUC (orange pad) followed by Turtle Wax One and Done Compound/Polish (soft black pad).
I purchased the Ultimate Compound, Polish, Wax system.
The comments about Turtle Wax Ice Compound seems to be consistent. It is the same Achilles heel of all Turtle Wax products.... they have to work on the ease of removal compared to other Brands.
I like the fact that this test was done outdoors seems to fit those who are mobile or just like working outside or have to work outside.
Wow, both products did a remarkable job!
I've used both the Ultimate Compound, and the Ultimate Polish with decent results. I gotta say, I think the TW ICE Speed Compound just surpassed both Ultimates performances though, in a single product.
You should have a ton more subscribers. Awesome channel!
Brewinz I couldn’t agree more. We need to share them more to help a bit.😁
Yeah atleast 300k is fair for the content he produces but I think realisticly in 2 years he will have 300k
I am completely happy with the subs I have...You guys are the BEST!!
You are on the ball good sir! I wanted to see this comparison! Thanks for listening!
I have started to use TW products and am very impressed how. The new products are starting to outshine the maguiars products.
I've been using the ultimate duo for quite some time. I am a very happy weekend detailer over these two. But, if I had to pick a winner it would be Ice. It clearly did better with the coarse scratches . Since i have ultimate and know how it behaves, Ill keep using it rather than switch. I know both companies set out to promote a user-friendly scenario. but Ice isn't that much better, to make a switch. If you are going to purchase one or the other, flip a coin.
Thanks for another great video, Brian.
I use the Megs Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish for doing small spot corrections by hand on my black 370Z and the combination works well, after I had gained enough experience so as to know what I was doing. I use a silk cloth over a foam buffing pad for applying the compound and polish and it seems to work very well in getting a clear and deep gloss on the clearcoat. I think the TW ISC did a better job in correcting the scratches.
Keep up the good work.
Ive been working with the Ultimate Compound for the last year and it's really nice for the money. Paired with the right pads, it can do some magic.
keep the gloss meter review as one of permanent judge for each of your video.. awesome vids. super thanks. glad i have ultimate compound..
- cheers from indonesia
kira2 pilih yang mana akhirnya mas ?
@@adi_hd meguiars aku belinya kemarin..
Good comparison. Its probably a little harder to wipe off the turtle wax due to it being left on the panel longer than the meguiars.I like your videos.
I’m learning so much from this guy. Thanks for your wisdom.
Turtle Wax has swayed my opinion...once again. Thanks for the video.
Rare to see great and honest reviews like this. Good to see another great new product from Turtle Wax. Hopefully they have bin the old stuff in the tins and hard shell wax and give Bowdens a Run in the retail side of things.
I'm impressed with the Turtle wax. I've used mckees37 swirl remover and it throws dust all over. not cheap either. tossing the mckees and going with the TW. thanks as always.
Can I use meguire ultimate compound followed by new improved turtle ice seal and shine sealant??
Meguiars is my trusted tried and true detailing company. While I use a lot of Pinnacle and Wolfgang products, all of my compounds and polishes are Megs. Great results from both products in this video, nice video.
If you were as good as you claim you would have to agree the turtle wax was on the hood way longer than the meguiars wax. It's easier to rub off the slightly wetter surface than the drier surface.
Brian, I'd say the scratch test gives victory to Turtle Wax. I am like you on the pick one and go with it. My personal favorite is between 3D One and P&S Playmaker. I have used Meguiar's Ultimate series a lot along with Turtle Wax products in don't really know much days and had tremendous results for a know very little person. I found out the hard way about using TW paste compound on clear coat(don't do that folks) on black paint. I put a lot of value in using product by hand too, so when I get in to pita spot for a polisher. I know I can get a great finish by hand.
Brian, I call it a draw, both are awesome over the counter products, can't go wrong with either one in my opinion, I say it again, turtle wax has stepped it's game way up in my opinion, and I am a die hard meguiar's man, another amazing video my friend,Thanks!!
🙂 the line of Ultimate products are very decent, i like their wheel cleaner, it turns purple just like a pro detail product
Thanks Brian I've just gone out and purchased Meguiar's I'm a pretty big fan of turtle Wax here in the UK it is so prevalent it's unbelievable but Meguiar's products are coming over surely but surely but on today's test Meguiar's pips it to the post thanks bud keep it simple keep it keep it true
Hi! I would like to see how Turtle Wax Ice Speed Compound works with a Rupes blue wool pad on some heavy scratches like 600 grit scratches :)
I would like to see a comparison between TW Ice Speed Compound and 3D Speed.
That would apples to oranges. Speed is an AIO. It has a "wax" in it and not intended to be a dedicated compound.
Megs is a little better than turtle 🐢✊
Brian, you are THE man!
Great video. Can you put a link to video where your testing more aggressive compounds can't seem to find it

👍👌✌
My garage always smells of cinnamon after a session with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. It's a very good product. Good price too.
I seen some complain that with ultimate they can wipe a panel down and scratches reappear so it’s actually like a glaze. Others say it doesn’t last and goes back to what it was like before in days. Either one of these claims true?
I requested this just days ago.. Brian, my friend, you are an animal! Thank you so much! Chromecast is rollin'! 👍👌✌
Have you noticed if it truly doesn't stain trim as advertised? If it is indeed trim safe it would make it an incredibly useful compound in many situations.
I am always listening to you all....and no staining.
You mean ICE no staining plastic trim? That’s cool, I must explore to this one (been using Ultimate Compound all these years) . Thanks !
@@yeungkawo I have actually used ICE compound quite a bit now. It definitely does not stain trim whatsoever. *Very* similar in cut to Ultimate. I really like it for a one step on boats and RVs, big outdoor jobs. Just polish the whole vehicle, leaving all the residue, give it a quick strip wash afterwards, and it's protection ready. Quick and easy and saves a lot of wiping time.
But their new Hybrid Solutions 1 & Done is a giant step ahead of both. Fantastic professional grade compound, I use it almost daily. But I haven't seen it for sale at local retail unfortunately.
You have only got to see my channel and it will show you this dose not restore your paint.
brian --- and the commentariat here -- you often
reach for the eurofibre 50/50 pad. it appears to be a real
" go to" for you.
what would be the equivalent "go to" or old reliable
pad for the rotary, please?
thanks, and also thanks for all your hard work in making these vids.
That would be the Lake Country Low Lint Lambswool Pad.
Maybe compare with Groits fast correcting cream?
I shall do that.👍
Could you do a video on perfect window cleaner and cleaning ?
On my iPhone it seems the TW won. I just used a whole bottle of the MUC on a horrific hood and wish it had more aggressive cut. Still needs to be done again.
Ultimate compound for me ! 👍
When I first watched the video I didn’t see when it was posted. So I looked on Amazon, found the spore compound on there but noticed it won’t ship out till sometime in November. I contacted TW and they informed me that they aren’t offering at this time. They then suggested I use the Hybrid Solutions 1 & Done Compound. With this tidbit of information, would you do a comparison of the meguiars ultimate compound with the TW 1 & Done?
Thanks again for all you do making your videos! Great products & they’re close in price point as well! I’m a Meguiar’s products guy so I’d reach for Meguiar’s but Turtle Wax is a great alternative!
For the weekend warrior, both are good. TW is less $ so it's TW for the win.
Great video...will the Ultimate compound work by hand?
Brian, i love when you review and compare everyday products. Not stuff that will have me living out my own car.
Great video!! In Taiwan, TW is only 50% price of M. So I purchased TW for this reason. The TW is ultra fluidity and ez to wash away by strong water. But buff off one hook by hand that nearly broken my arm.
Did you know 3M bought Meguiars?
😆 Thanks for showing the keyboard Warriors the product shaking. Great video, thanks Brian.
Thanks for this informative video Brian! Based on the comparison, I couldn't see any difference between them. How would these two products compare to the Turtle Was 1 and Done?
Great test, thank you. So hard to decide on the best product due to so many out there.
I would like to see the paint depth after each as well. GJ
I can do that next time...I will put it against Griot's FCC
No comparison here, turtlewax always decent but never exceed anyone expectation. Meg's on the otherhand is always satisfying
Brian I like what I see in these videos! Both products seem to do very well! I'm just at Average Joe trying to take care of his everyday car! Applying these products by hand will never give me the results that I'm seeing you get with your power machine. Is there a power machine that you would recommend for a novice that will do a nice job and not break the bank. Also recommend the right pad for use with these compounds. I've always had the fear of using a power machine because I don't want to burn through my clear coat. But I've seen you work and I have an idea of about the proper speed and the proper size panel to work on at a time. Because these products are not too aggressive I believe I could get fantastic results on my car.
really good question, I think exactly the same what pads are easily available world wide ie Amazon that are good value and still do a decent job? great channel thanks for the hard work Brian from the UK
Check.also Chris fix channel. He redid a car with muc
Another epic video B. I have both. I favour the Megs ever so slightly for the ease of removal. But hard to split.
Waiting for the flat cap to come back. I’m in the US and hat weather.
I’m still using my car pro with my mark 3 rupes. I’m spend the extra buck for my compound
SONAX EX 04-06 for me. I've tried those and there's much better yet easy to use out there. However those work some and you can get them LOCALLY!
I am learning a lot from you. Still not confident enough to try a powered polisher (yet) but maybe soon! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. (I've been using the Meguiars and like it.)
Same here... think I have to get my hands on a test panel
Man give it a go. I picked up one and it turned out awsome. I did some paint correction light wet sanding on the spots. Took my time. About 5 hours. I used a orange pad and a black finish pad. Used tw and am seriously happy with results. Topped with ice. Caddy never looked as well. And for my first time. Wow
@@barrybij8079 Yeah, that's probably a smart way to start. Learn on something I don't care if I totally trash. Was actually thinking of starting on my 16 year old John Deere lawn tractor--can't mess up that thing! :)
@@howard6798 ...I never thought of that... Ok, my weekend has been booked..Tractor getting detailed Saturday morning. My neighbors already think I'm nuts...HA
A PC or MaxShine 15mm is a great starter.
Why would you need compounds to cut through 1000 grit sandpaper?
I use ultimate compound to buff off headlight oxidation
Does the turtle wax have a protection to it? I’m asking cause people mention it is a one step product.
tw that have protection is tw ice polish. for headlight oxidation you might have to take the compound first, or even sand it depend on condition.
No protection.
The soupiness of the TW is a no go for me. I'm a klutz and I just know it would end up everywhere. I've used the Megs UC before and it got pretty much the same results. Gotta find a compound in the next tier.
Hi, thanks for the comparison I as you think both of them are great but I have a question. What's the diferrence between the meguiars compound with their M100 or M101?
Is turtle wax clear coat safe as most of their products aren’t? Also Meguiars performs best when you follow their instructions to the letter.
Do you have a orbital polisher that you would recommend for a beginner?
Hi Brian.Could you please put seal and shine against a entry level ceramic coating. Technicians choice has one for $39 on Amazon looks pretty decent. And P&S jade one for about 100$ .I’m sure other people and myself would love to see this video thank you
I can get from Meguiar's ultimate compound the same result as you got from Sonax CutMax with Meguiar's microfiber pad with the the same number of passes.
Sure ya can
@@josephvance8900 I think this was meant to be sarcastic, but I just tried this with both products and it's true. Can still def recommend the Cutmax since you can use it with less expensive foam pads and get the same results
Hey nice stuff , just one question after using the compound polish .. do i need to use an additional shiner or polish or i can head to the coating right after using either of the compund polishes?
Wtf was that that ran up the pole in the background at 3:33?
Is 🐢wax Ice Compound just launching again in US?
I stumbled across some in Oz that was on clearance so good for me but not going to be stocked moving forward.
I can't work these guys out with what they are trying to do.
Hi I recently bought euro fiber 50 50 pad I dont have a polisher i am gonna use megs ultimate compound by hand then wax should i polish with ultimate polish as well ???
Hey Brian. Hope all is well with you sir during this continuing COVID mess. I have a quick question regarding the Turtle Wax ICE Speed Compound. I wanted to get a bottle and use it on my Nissan Pathfinder which needs a little help. In regards to this, I saw on Turtle Waxes own video of this product that the residue can be WASHED away? Is this true or have you had any experience with using it that way? I know you show it being wiped away here and i'm sure that how most people use it but I was intrigued seeing that Turtle Wax engineers say that it's a watery enough consistency that the spent residue can be washed away with a strong stream of water. They use the "cracks and crevices" as an example and say it's easy to just flood the residue with water and it washes off. I was wondering if you could do that with the entire vehicle too. Compound the entire vehicle in my garage and then simply "wash away" the residue when i'm done compounding the entire vehicle. Especially on a Nissan Pathfinder which as you know is pretty good sized SUV. That would make it a whole hell of a lot easier for me. I'm not looking for perfection here either. Not in the slightest. I'm just looking to bring out some gloss on the vehicle (it's a daily driver) and then protect it with Turtle Wax Ice Seal and Shine. What are your thoughts? Thanks again for everything you do and for bringing all this information to the masses out here in the world. THANK YOU, you are very much appreciated sir.
Great comparison mate as usual. Just refresh my memory please what type of pad is this your using???
Both are great nice video buddy tfs
I detailed my car using meguiars ultimate compound and polish by hand i got a pretty good result
Great video you are the first I have seen to compare compounds. I would be interested to see how Griots compares. Also I would be interested to see a comparison of all in ones like collinite 325 and HDspeed?
I will put it up against Griots FCC
Did something just crawl up the pole at the 3:30 mark? I think it is a draw between Megs and TW.
We are being invaded by spotted lantern flies...killing our trees.
Great vid as always.as a beginner,do you think i need a 3" back plate and matching pads? I know it depends on vehicle and lines.ive already spent eough....ugggh.
I love your videos but I have to ask why not use 2 different pads
I wanted the exact same pad for both products....in testing that is the constant....or control
@@apexdetail85 that's cool. I was just wondering. I guess what I meant was maybe 2 of the same exact type of pad just to avoid any possible mixing of products.
How many pads do you go through when doing an entire vehicle?
Great video B!
Hihi little fans from Hong Kong:) may I know if I choose to use turtle wax speed compound, what you suggest for the polish on the next step? I seems couldn’t find polish from turtle wax, or turtle wax speed compound can take care on both compound and polish step in one product? Thank you so much for answer, have a nice day:)
I couldn't tell in the video did they remove all swirls or hologram?
...can you do a tech vid on MAT vs SMAT Compounds? I knoooww all the big guns have their vids and graphs.real world with no mnfctr bias would be great.
I put it on the list.
I appreciate your videos Brian! Thank you!
Can you test the Patterson Car Care line? He's a youtuber with his own original line and says not rebottled. Also have you checked out the Ammo line?
Brian you know what type of video I’d love to see .... is how you handle the curves on the panels with a DA polisher ... on a flat panel you know to keep it level and flat but if it’s a pronoun character line ... how do you hit it with a. Polisher ??
Me too buddy.
I have 2017 F150 & the roof & hood look like a nightmare!
Compitition breads innovation.
To be fair this is all anyone should need to compound their daily driver. Those heavy cut compounds may leave a mirror finish but you're taking off all of clear for a deadly driver.
What?
@@mr.monitor. he's trying to say that if you use an aggressive compound the driver will die. Pretty obvious.
@@ChainsawChristmas lmfao damn auto correct. *daily driver.
@@ChainsawChristmas I was trying to say for a daily driver if you take too much clear off it loses the uv pertection. And will ruin the paint.
I also tell people and believe the same. Unless you are a professional detailer, ultimate compound is all you need for the highest level of cut for a hobbyist/weekend detailer.
But M205 or Hyper Polish products are great for both Professional or Hobbyist.
Anything more than Ultimate Compound can handle, I recommend taking your car to a professional detailer
Please anyone to tell me if after using these products is it necessary to do a ipa wipe down to put on a sealant and wax?
I was waiting for this one
great video
Another GREAT video! Do either one have fillers that would prevent just waxing or sealing right after without a chemical wipe?
Thanks!
No fillers.
@@apexdetail85 thanks! I have heard the ultimate polish has fillers, so good to know these are okay. They both seem good for the money!
Since I dont have a 50/50 euro-fiber pad, should I try a foam or mf pad for finishing/one step?
Can’t beat the new technology. The Old compounds were like concrete to get off.
These products are good, but my go to will always be 3M Perfect It products. Done.
What are the polishing devices you used?
Awesome video Brian! I have the ultimate compound and polish. Do you follow up with the polish in all cases or lay protection over the compound after a wipe down?
gambietti I’ve used ultimate compound as a one step before, it finishes nicely.

For a non pro detailer. Your average Joe who waxes and takes care of his car on weekends McGuire products have worked perfect for my cars for years.
this was a great test.
TW absolutely kicked it out of the park with ICE. I don't think a weekend detailer can fault any of the Ice product line.
