I have owned 3 cars (2 Bmw's, 1 audi ,so hard paints) this far in my life time and ultimate compound has never let me down! What an awesome product. ❤❤
Launched back in 2009, the well-tried-and-tested Ultimate Compound was one of the first correction compounds that moved the game on in the world of paint correction. Both of these products work well when worked by hand as well, but using by DA machine is always the most efficient. If I'm pressed for time and the customer wants his car back before the end of the day, then I like to use the Ultimate Compound followed up with AutoGlym's Radiant Wax Polish (Super Resin Polish in a big posh tin). That always gives really nice results and the finish always pops. They are well-priced too.
One off-label use for Ultimate Compound would be to use it on the car's exterior windows. The Ultimate Compound does a surprisingly good job of reducing the arc-shaped swirls caused by the rear wiper sweeping across dry and dusty rear windscreens. Just don't get the polisher too hot when doing this.
Great video Dave. Meguiars ultimate Compound and Polish are both top products, but as you rightly said excellent results are dependent on carrying out right prep and process. Have a great weekend 👍.
Amazing video Dave ! Nothing fancy out of nowhere but simple and effective explanations for the average Joe. Moreover, the products are quite easy to find and are often part of Automotive shop's discounts. Most important information given, the pad & product combination. I have my daughter's black car to rejuvenate but I have to admit it will have to wait a bit since we are having nearly 40°C here in South of France. That will be the perfect car to test a 2-steps paint correction on. Cheers for always sharing precious advices, tips and tricks with your followers 😉 Gregg
Great video Dave 👌 Totally learned the hardway about not cleaning cars on a nice sunny day..... its exhausting for me at the best of times. Best day is a dark gloomy day, ready for a nice sunny day drive. That Mequires stuff is absolutely brilliant on cars that aren't metallic, I had a bright red Mitsubishi Shogun V6 many years ago, and worked extremely hard with the Meguiars 3 stage process and the paint went from a dull red to the most amazing candy apple red with the best shine 👌 It was bloody hard work though. ....I'll stick to my jet black metallic Saab with a purple haze in the sunlight 😂
Thanks for an informative video Dave. I have Meguiars 3 in 1 polish which I plan to use once I get the right weather conditions and have around 3 hours spare to wash and prep the car 😂
I saw on Instagram that you had a mystery pressure washer to test, announced a little while ago. When can we expect this video. Loving content as always!
These videos are so useful and the Meguires compound is such a great product even when using by hand. I am interested to know what polishing pads you use in more detail and are you able to send a link at all? Thank you and keep up the great work. Excellent video! 💪🏼👊🏼
One thing I would say to anyone wanting to try machine polishing their car is RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH! It's as much an art as a science. Ideally you should have a paint depth gauge so you know how much clear coat you have to work with! You CAN burn through clear coat if you're not careful! And if you don't understand anything I've just said, YOU AINT READY FOR MACHINE POLISHING!
Amazing video. Got these two products ready at home to use, but haven't had the guts yet to start polishing. Also ngl it's pretty hard to see results on that yellow paint 😅
It's quite interesting that the early bottles on the Ultimate Polishes featured in huge letters 'Pre-Wax Glaze'. The Ultimate Polish definitely has correctional properties, as it removes any hazing left by the Ultimate Compound. It definitely adds a lot to the shine, but there is no protection in it. You still have to follow it up with a high-quality wax or sealant. One downside to the Ultimate Polish that I can find, is that it can get quite hard to buff off if it has been allowed to dry at all, so it's best used on one panel at a time.
Great video Dave! I use Meguiar’s Compound for years and allso their Polish and now they have Ceramic Pre-Wax Prep allso, ( which does a bit the same as their Polsh) maybe you can test that one as well? Allways protect your work with step 3, a good wax. I use their Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax which is awesome. 3 steps method: Compound, Polish, Wax. 👍 Thanks and regards from South France☀️
Meguiars ultimate compound is a great one step compound and won’t mark your trim either and it so easy available and u can use on a compound pad or polishing pad just for enhancement. I also used ther pro range 105/ 205 this has been updated to 110 now I love this 2 step and I tried many and always go back.205 is the best finishing polish I used it great product Meguiars do great compounds u should try them
Great video, love the level of detail. I was wondering if is there a certain point a product goes from cutting compound to a finishing polish? Like, is there a certain grit level or is it simply how the products are marketed?
So the ultimate compound has heavy abrasives so it does heavy work but the polish is designed to bring that shine back so compound alone is good enough for some but then again some others just want that glossy look and not too fussed about scratches so they both do different jobs in reality
First of all, super great video =) I did a 20 hour detail on my black Audi just the other day. I used only Meguiars polish, because the paint didnt really need a compound. Why? Because one thing i learned from owning a black car for 8 years is: A black car only look good good right after a wash or detail. After 5 meters things changed. So i just gave it a little pop to the depth
Yeah for some people using polish on its own is fine. It Powders less and many users just want to freshen up the paint without taking off more clear coat 👌
@@epicautomotivedetailing Have a Audi, brilliant black. Rock solid clearcoat. Sure there is some scratches but to get them out you kindsa need heavier things the Ultimate compound since the clearcoat is rock hard. So i went for a polish, instead to get some gloss and depth =) But ofcourse if the paint was in that state you worked on, compounding would be crazy not to do
Have you used the TW one and done. Ive only ever used Megs UC and UP as well as the 105 in the past but I think the One and done is a better one step and is nicer to work with.
Dave Dave Dave, would you believe it last week I was researching the maguire compound, polish and wax products , trying to work out why , I get it know, but where does maguires quick detailer come into it? It’s the product in bottle they package with the claybar kit. Having already got maguire clay kit, which i have used before and it really does work! I wanted to go full hog and diy it all myself, but lost interest being a bit confused with products to use and what order and the point of quick detailer!?! Which actually leaves a nice finish! The video is mint and can’t believe someone has done it at the time I needed some advice which I think this has now almost answered .
Quick detailers are just used as a finishing product for those who just wash their car and want to finish it. So the maintenance cleans. It also makes excellent clay bar lube
@@epicautomotivedetailing thanks for the reply- maguires do a kit of all three products around £50, is there anything out there that is perhaps less in cost but does an overall job well?
I tried the Meguiar's Ultimate Compound last month for the first time and found it difficult to work with, I just didn't like it. I was polishing by hand using microfibre cloths doing 12 inch square sections at a time. It just wouldn't shine up. I threw the bottle in the bin and went back to my trusted Autoglym SRP. Maybe the Meguiar's stuff does need a machine polisher to get the best results. 😞
Hi im new to your channel . I love how you explain the maguiers ultimate compound the ultimate polish and liquid ceramic wax. I'd woul like to know if I can do the same steps you have given for my car .the hood is oxiden rest of car is fine but it has like a white crusty feel. Will do your method am I able to restore the color back.
Had to use some body filler, so the question is whst are to he steps. I think as follows: Wash and clean Apply filler Sand, more to less aggressive finish with say 3,000 Apply more filler if needed (same steps after) Wash &dry Apply primer Wash &dry Very light sand 3k Apply base coat Leave to dry Very light sand Apply second base coat Very light sand Apply clear coat Very light sand Leave to dry Apply clay bar Apply compound Apply polish The question is should i use clay bar in any other part of the process...e.g. before/ after primer; before/after base coat; before / after clear coat ?
Dave, I’ve bought Simonz scratch and swirl remover, it’s a liquid Simonz wax and polish liquid Can I just use a microfibre to try and restore my cousins paint
Hi I am a total beginner to polishing . When you say in the first part of the video I’m going to give it another pass do you mean going over the same part doing exactly the same again thanks .
A pass for example is an area covered. Let's say I'm working in a 40cm by 40cm area. I work up and down from left to right. Then I work top to bottom. That's one pass. Hope that helps 🙏
I’m looking at starting my own detailing business on the side, is auto glym good enough for a start and then upgrade To infinity wax? Or is auto glym good Enough
I used Meguiar's Scratch-X to lessen the appearance of some minor scratches. But now, it leaves a slight haze when viewed under dimly lit conditions. What would remove the haze, Meguiar's Ultimate Compound or Meguiar's Ultimate Polish?
I have both and find the polish quite hard to buff out by hand. Even though I am not leaving it long at all before buffing. Can you recommend any other polish thats easier to buff?
You should be able to apply your ceramic coating as soon as you finish polishing the car. Make sure to remove any leftover polishing oils by using a panel prep made by the same company that makes your ceramic coating before applying the coating, and you should be golden 👍
I love the Meguiars range, never been disappointed with their products, it's also good to finish the cut and polish with either their ultimate liquid wax or one of their sealants or any cermic coatings to keep the portion lasting longer ❤
@epicautomotivedetailing I love your videos, would be awesome to see the gloss finish compared to their ultimate liquid wax, hybrid ceramic paste wax or even their new range ultimate cermic coating :) As always keep up the awesome work 👏

Even if it's cold outside but the sun is out is just as bad (that's why skiers where sunscreen on their face).

A bit of an irrelevant question but you recommend using Seal and Shine or Fusso Kiwami? I'll be using Ice spray as a drying aid.

Wash and clean

Sand, more to less aggressive finish with say 3,000
Apply more filler if needed (same steps after)
Wash &dry
Apply primer

Very light sand 3k
Apply base coat

Apply clay bar
Apply compound
Apply polish
