  • With record high COE prices, the Cat A BYD ATTO 3 is one of the best value EVs in Singapore at SG$174,888 (as of June 2023). It has a range of 420km (WLTP), and can charge from 20-80% in as little as 42 minutes on DC Fast Chargers (up to 80kW). I share what makes the Cat A version different from the original Cat B version, the upgrades that BYD has made (BYD app is a significant quality of life improvement for owners), and my final verdict on who this car is for. Hi Daren. I was considering the IONIQ5 or i4. Although I ended one number lower with the Atto 3, I was amazed how the company could build a car with so many features at that price. The BYD’s better suspension and safer battery were top considerations in the final decision. Like that it has the 360 view camera and App as my Beemer. Btw, our car will sport the same white as your review which I enjoyed. Looking forward to your next review. Take care!

Great review, very informative. Thinking of trading in my fuel-powered SUV for this, especially since the COE is now dropping too. The only bummer for me is the interior design, don’t really fancy the guitar strings and barbell aircon vents. A bit too quirky for me. But everything else seems great especially the brake and accelerator combo which make transition easier for non-EV owners.

Both are good EV options below S$200k in Singapore, with different pros and cons:
      - Range: BYD ATTO 3 has 420km WLTP (380km real-world) vs Hyundai IONIQ 5 384km WLTP (340km real-world)
      - Space: IONIQ 5 is a larger and more spacious SUV for passengers and cargo
      - App Support: BYD has a good app (many Hyundai/KIA owners in our region are still waiting for app support)
      - Design: IONIQ 5 looks more futuristic, and the interior is less divisive compared to BYD ATTO 3
