    Hi have you test the range of this car? I curious how far this car can go from 100% to flat

    Hey man. Do you think it’s a good time to switch to EV now or wait a few years when there are more charging ports? Would the resale value of an EV like Atto 3 be quite bad 5 years down the line? Considering the battery lifespan too. How do you compare the latest Atto 3 against the Ionic 5?

    • @roadpilgrim
      @roadpilgrim  6 месяцев назад +2

      Hey man! Thanks for your question. I’m not sure where you are located - but in Singapore, I think the time is as good as any to purchase an EV. There are enough options in each segment, and charging infrastructure is really decent (and still developing). No one knows what the resale value will be like for EVs down the line, but my personal take is that I would buy a used EV because there are mechanically just less things that could go wrong. Then again my threshold for mechanical issues is high (I drive two 14 year old BMWs that require a lot of maintenance and I don’t mind).
      I haven’t test driven the Ionic 5 because Hyundai Singapore hasn’t granted me any test cars for some reason. So I can’t comment. But I think the ATTO 3 is a superb car for the price. Mega fan of the BYD Seal as well. I think it’s better than a Model 3.

      @@roadpilgrim thanks a lot for your reply and opinion. Located in Singapore too! Seems the charging infrastructure is growing. Just hope there are enough charging stations once many people start switching to EVs this year! Haha
      If you were to buy a car now, would you go for a hybrid or EV? Based on practicality and economically speaking.

    What is your opinion of the EEAI rebate? Should it be part of my consideration whether to get the car before this incentive ends at the end of the year? What I feel personally is that the rebate amount is not transparent, and BYD can just lower the so called selling price after the incentive ends, so that the actual price that consumer pays remain the same. Or did I miss anything?

    • @roadpilgrim
      @roadpilgrim  Год назад +2

      Hey man. Personally, i don’t think it’s a major consideration, because the rebates aren’t cash gifts to the consumer, they are drawn from your car’s eventual PARF rebates. So you do get lowered upfront costs when purchasing the car brand new, but you also subsequently suffer lower resale values and de-registration values down the line. So personally I wouldn’t be influenced by the rebates. I would buy what I can afford, in the time and space I feel comfortable with. I don’t think there is much loss or gain either way.

      @@roadpilgrim thanks for the reply. That's what I suspected as well. Always felt that rebates of this kind should be claimed from LTA post purchase in order to fully benefit from any incentives. Otherwise car dealers can just adjust the selling price to offset any rebates.

    Is there a Frunk with the carbon edge addition?

    • @roadpilgrim
      @roadpilgrim  4 месяца назад

      In Singapore it comes installed. In other countries I’ve heard it is an option / aftermarket add on.

      @@roadpilgrim My COE has been approved for the 2024 Atto3 but not the Carbon Edge Trim. Confirmed No Frunk. Dealer said the Frunk is installed as accessories together with the Black top, side mirrors, darkened signage, rear triangular side window scale design and internal black seating seats. And is installed locally in Singapore.

    do we need to change the Batman tyres? Thanks

      Actually they are super comfortable - no joke. Slight downside is that they aren’t very grippy. Still perfectly fine to use for day to day driving though. I quite enjoyed the tyres.

    How is the aircon? EV car aircon doesnt seem to be as cold as normal car, my SE and I was sweating like hell when i test drive it in a hot afternoon 3-4pm

    • @roadpilgrim
      @roadpilgrim  Год назад +1

      Personally I don’t think EV air conditioning is less cold, but I do find that it takes quite a bit longer to cool down when starting up. That said, there are connectivity apps now that allow you to pre-condition your car and run the air con before you get in, which does help to solve the issue.

      Hey man. Thanks for the input. Where are you from? I’m curious as the ATTO 3 is one of the better valued buys in Singapore at the moment. All cars are overpriced in Singapore due to the taxation structure for cars, so I admit we’re a little desensitised to the price.
