Holy damn. My favorite game ripped apart and demolished in less than an hour. If I could I'd donate money to see more of this, especially at a major event like gdq.
Daaamn I remember playing this on the original Xbox with Xbox live and everything. So much hacking and dupping but still really fun. Thanks for uploading this!
Tommy B Well, at least there's Phantasy Star Portable 2/PSP2 Infinity (if you can read Japanese, there's guides though) and Phantasy Star Zero which is the closest to original PSO in play style.
Tasty CupCake I was replying to TankBus, who I'm pretty sure was referring to PSZero. At least PSP2 had a larger capacity media to work with (memstick duo and UMDs store way more than DS cards of the time did).
Ranger was always my class choice! Too bad I didn't have many friends to play with me (on the GC version I mean), which made the game too difficult to play.... unless you did the loop meseta thing. XD Awesome speedrun!
How are you doing all this at the base level?? is there some sort of glitch involved what a lovely walkthrough of this game though. All these levels bring back insane memories. my friends and I at least spend 100+ hours trudging and grinding to get to high levels and earn that high level equipment. What a great game!! I do hope I find someone in the future to grind along with again. for old time's sake
hello my name claudio i bought back the used gamecube and the pso ep 1&2 game i must confess that replaying this beauty made me rekindle good memories unfortunately i can't reuse the game because it was used and the codes have already been used by the old owner and then i don't know if the servers are still online after so many years, anyway, I need to buy an old gamecube memory card with a character that has all the material available at the time and I remember that there was everything, including illegal ones, such as weapons, armor, accessories, mags, etc. I am willing to any human figure of course ..... thanks let me know something
Oh, my goodness that button spamming in the first parts of the video. Like, for real, do your hands get sore from smashing so many buttons consecutively? I am so impressed!
Actually, this mashing is easy to do. If you go too fast, you will mess up. There is a bit of a rhythm to it. Also it's a very short setup. Other runs that I have done that have more mashing make my hands hurt really bad though. PSU is a 7 hour run and you have to mash through the dialogue, there is a LOT of dialogue. PSzero for the Nintendo DS is 2-3 hours long and you mash the entire time because of a weapon glitch that enables rapid fire based on how fast you can mash.
I've been playing this game for over a decade. While I'm still admittedly not that good... What the HELL was all that at the beginning xD. I hope gdq takes the run at some point, I'd love to watch there too!
Are you just playing around with the Symbol Chat stuff or is there some sort of purpose to it? I'm sort of guessing the former, just to keep the viewers entertained.
you should see about getting this into agdq it would bring a lot of attention to the game! also i had no idea you could use the shop dupe glitch like that thats super cool
This was very interesting to watch. I knew about the dupe glitch but for some reason I never thought to try it with gold. Very interesting. I can also see why GDQ would reject this. It was very interesting to me (I played this game to death as a kid), but it's a lot of running around and one shotting things. I could see it getting boring quick.
Zeik War I get that too, that's why I back up the run with commentary. Honestly I think this is comparable to Diablo 2 speedruns as it's similar in the way that you watch someone walk around for a while with little to no trouble.
how were you able to activate the pillars in forest cave and mine the first time visiting? I had to defeat the mine boss before I was able to do that ??
I'm playing on the gamecube version of pso. Version 1 and version 2 of the dreamcast pso you can't touch the monuments until you clear the mines. All versions after the dreamcast, you are able to touch the monuments the first time through.
Really enjoyed this video even though I'm 3years late but never the less it was a lovely play through, I watched it all. I still play this game since I first played on the Dreamcast but now play on Xbox and hoping one day it comes back compatible to xbox one or even a remaster. My hopes are high..
I'm more of an over-preparing player myself. Speed-run was great, wonderful execution of tactics and strategies. Excellent navigation. Nice use of strategy with the multiple weapons equip. And the use of the proper weapons for different situations. If it can be done easily enough, I see it as strategy, not cheating... Regular Captain Kirk here, guys. Even pulled some crazy stunts myself in my youth.
I'm a bit slow...how exactly did you manage to duplicate your money like that, and how did you equip that many sabers at once...i want to show it to my friend and act like I didn't actually exploit the bugs XD
For speedrunning the any% (glitched) category, RaCast is the fastest character because of his stats. He can equip a saber at level 1 which, when stacked, gives massive attack power. He's also a ranger, so he can use the Shot weapon which is found near the end of the run.
EnergyBurst2 That and using a photo attack would take time. I already kill things in 1 or 2 hits, so I just take a safety precaution to prevent myself from using it in the first place.
CkarlBobadine I've played both, but I only really enjoy PSO1 for the atmosphere now. PSO2's combat and boss fights are better than most dedicated action games IMO.
Centipede PSO2 was more like PSU than it is PSO. As someone who loves this game, that's upsetting that after waiting months for a sequel to this game we basically get another PSUniverse
Richard Davis Eh, I'm not interested in PSU either, but I think the combat is so much more fun than PSU (or almost anything else on the market) that it's hard to complain or relate it to psu too much. It depends on what you're interesting though. It's definitely closer to PSU aesthetically, That's disappointing to me, but I'm not really playing for the story or aesthetic.
In the first 3 minutes of the run, I'm using a glitch to duplicate meseta so I can abuse another glitch known as weapon stacking. I buy and equip a saber at the same time I unequip and re-equip another saber. This lets me do damage with the power of all the weapons equipped.
That's really cool! I did vaguely suspect something you were doing with the duplication was affecting your attack stat. It would be incredibly cool to you replicate this run on the hardest difficulty using that trick.
The amount of restraint you had in not opening those item boxes is probably the most incredible part of this speedrun.
Honestly, it's not that hard to ignore them. They have loot that I don't need so there's no need to even think about opening them.
HARD AGREE
Maybe for someone who never looked at drop charts 😬
Still not in time to save Rico : (
What can we say... the Principal? He expects perfection.
i guess it's kinda off topic but do anyone know a good place to watch new movies online?
@Joe Miles I watch on flixzone. You can find it on google =)
@Shepherd Conor Yea, have been using FlixZone for years myself :)
@Shepherd Conor Thank you, I went there and it seems to work :) I appreciate it!!
Holy damn. My favorite game ripped apart and demolished in less than an hour. If I could I'd donate money to see more of this, especially at a major event like gdq.
this is my first time hearing of a PSO speedrun and the glitches at the start have just blown my mind :o)
Lewis Hay eid
Likewise.
Yes, me too :D
I have submitted this category for the last 3 gdq's. Unfortunately it was rejected every time.
+CkarlBobadine man....that kind of glitch you do.....i love you! >0
+CkarlBobadine frown town.
+CkarlBobadine That sucks, I'd actually like to see this there. Considering some of the choices for games they have...
playing the one gamecube as we speak
gdq rejects a lot of games for stupid reasons.
Player: *stacks over 1k ATP, deals 200 damage*
Math: *"WUT"*
Oh the old shop glitch, memories...
I knew about the duplication glitch, but I did NOT know you could stack weapons like that! That is a really awesome glitch haha.
Damn man, I haven't seen a proper speedrun of PSO like this one before. Nicely done!
Thanks!
he mastered the forbidden technique: the sword gun
THE MYTHICAL WHITE DEATH LASER SWORD GUN.
Dane Johnson; its the pso's version of a pso2 gunslash
RiorXD gunslash was originally from phantasy star zero on the ds pso2 happened to bring it back
oh my god a madman actually speed-running what is essentially the first mmo-esque rpg on console
Very nice man :) This made me want to pull out my GC and play some PSO again haha
Daaamn I remember playing this on the original Xbox with Xbox live and everything. So much hacking and dupping but still really fun. Thanks for uploading this!
i went frame by frame and still cant figure out wtf was going on in the beginning
fun game , i wish they wouldve remade for the handhelds atleast
Tommy B Well, at least there's Phantasy Star Portable 2/PSP2 Infinity (if you can read Japanese, there's guides though) and Phantasy Star Zero which is the closest to original PSO in play style.
***** Its more of a PSO lite if you ask me.
TankBus Well, yeah. There's only so much you can ask from a portable title from that time.
Tasty CupCake I was replying to TankBus, who I'm pretty sure was referring to PSZero. At least PSP2 had a larger capacity media to work with (memstick duo and UMDs store way more than DS cards of the time did).
Sweet stuff! My friend showed me this game a few years ago and I remember it being hard as balls. But then this. ._. How what where
I would watch the heck out of this on a GDQ!
Still looks weird to shoot whilst holding 24 swords at once..
General Grievous BTFO
After this I'm watching the all difficulties run, I used to love PSO as a kid and I'm hyped to play PSO2 on the NA release Friday, awesome runs man!
Well the closed beta release
Ah yes, my favorite gun is also a saber.
Ranger was always my class choice! Too bad I didn't have many friends to play with me (on the GC version I mean), which made the game too difficult to play.... unless you did the loop meseta thing. XD Awesome speedrun!
good shit! i miss this game!
Holy moly... Teach me your ways, Sensei!
That RNG with the 45% bonus against dark on the shot. Awesome luck there.
Hard training multi equip glitch ahahaha. I've not watched the entire run but gg man, the perfect spawning is real
How are you doing all this at the base level??
is there some sort of glitch involved
what a lovely walkthrough of this game though. All these levels bring back insane memories.
my friends and I at least spend 100+ hours trudging and grinding to get to high levels and earn that high level equipment. What a great game!!
I do hope I find someone in the future to grind along with again. for old time's sake
i miss this game
Este juego en su epoca era simplemente increible
hello my name claudio i bought back the used gamecube and the pso ep 1&2 game i must confess that replaying this beauty made me rekindle good memories unfortunately i can't reuse the game because it was used and the codes have already been used by the old owner and then i don't know if the servers are still online after so many years, anyway, I need to buy an old gamecube memory card with a character that has all the material available at the time and I remember that there was everything, including illegal ones, such as weapons, armor, accessories, mags, etc. I am willing to any human figure of course ..... thanks let me know something

O_O Oh my goodness, I'm too young for this.
Good ol' dupe/equip glitch! I'd forgotten all about that! Good times! :)
I've been playing this game for over a decade. While I'm still admittedly not that good... What the HELL was all that at the beginning xD. I hope gdq takes the run at some point, I'd love to watch there too!
I enjoy this game and I really enjoyed your video:) subbed.
Are you just playing around with the Symbol Chat stuff or is there some sort of purpose to it?
I'm sort of guessing the former, just to keep the viewers entertained.
Niko Reiesu Messing with the symbol chat was just something to do when I wasn't killing things.
Good shit. I assume this is done in the non-plus version of the game?
BRUHHHHHHH I LOVE YOU FOR THIS
+Krissy Victory ah, shucks. that means a lot to me. thanks
Great run.
you should see about getting this into agdq it would bring a lot of attention to the game! also i had no idea you could use the shop dupe glitch like that thats super cool

I wonder would the item stacking and mezeta duping be possible on the Dreamcast original?
It is. I have done runs on Version 1, the original dreamcast version
+CkarlBobadine sweet! I'm gonna have to try it out
What a neat game
It feels like playing a N64 game
48:45 gained 2 levels on one kill! Sick
how were you able to activate the pillars in forest cave and mine the first time visiting? I had to defeat the mine boss before I was able to do that ??

weird xD
but thanks :)

Godlike run!
tfw still play this game in 2017
Stella Stenla Heck I still play this game online ;;v;;
great games are timeless
I'm still playing in 2022 for the first time since late 2012 when my original disc stopped working.
I'm a bit slow...how exactly did you manage to duplicate your money like that, and how did you equip that many sabers at once...i want to show it to my friend and act like I didn't actually exploit the bugs XD
Bill Rogee I have a tutorial for the duping and weapon stacking. ruclips.net/video/cOTJDRDabp8/видео.html
CkarlBobadine Damn that reply was fast, thanks.
Nostalgia! 👌🏼😋
Is stacking weapons a standard thing?? If so I can't believe I didn't know that .. gutted. Haha
It's a glitch, so I wouldn't say it's a standard thing. It's useful for speedruns and messing around.
Those scanlines tho
how did you do this? was there any tricks or glitches involved? If so, I'd like to know so I can try them for myself
The first 3 minutes of the run has all the glitches used for setup. I have a tutorial on how to do those glitches somewhere on my channel.
Is the character you made ur fav class on pso or you just made him for vid purposes?
For speedrunning the any% (glitched) category, RaCast is the fastest character because of his stats. He can equip a saber at level 1 which, when stacked, gives massive attack power. He's also a ranger, so he can use the Shot weapon which is found near the end of the run.
Oh ok that makes sense. I started with the HuneWearl as my first char she is lv 117 now.
Insane.
40:55 AWWW yiiiiiis
I'm curious, is there a particular reason you unequip and then equip your mag thus emptying its gauge when it gets full?
actually after thinking on it is it so you can have access to your traps again?
EnergyBurst2 That and using a photo attack would take time. I already kill things in 1 or 2 hits, so I just take a safety precaution to prevent myself from using it in the first place.
oh ok, cool, thank you for answering me!
Could you do it a bit slower...because i dont know what button do u press....thanks^^
Nice work)
How is he duping the items and money?
With glitches.
wow how to get sword!!
CkarlBobadine dont give up...keep submiting it
awesome dude
In the age of PSO2, is it worth also playing PSO1?
Honestly, I think it is. I played PSO2 and it wasn't as fun as PSO. They changed too much from from PSO to PSO2 and they feel nothing alike.

+BuyMeThingsNow you're everywhere rambling on about pso2. pso 1 is better face facts. majority rule
you have the ultimate saber lol
PSO love
I notice you're one-shotting virtually all of the enemies. How are you so strong so early in the game?
In the first 3 minutes of the run, I'm using a glitch to duplicate meseta so I can abuse another glitch known as weapon stacking. I buy and equip a saber at the same time I unequip and re-equip another saber. This lets me do damage with the power of all the weapons equipped.

I have done a few runs through all difficulties. It involves doing the same thing in every difficulty. Stacking weapons, wreaking havoc.
speedrun????? 1327 ATB !!!!! XD
Wsp
a speedrun that??? Not way....
WoW.
I dont like the robot characters man this is making me refuse to try it for the first time
WHAT THE FUCK
This game looks so much worse than I remember
Holy fuk that speed do you even know what you are doing lol
Yi Sensei If I think about it, no. It's all muscle memory. My hands just kinda do their own thing,
You re a Legendary PSO player lol.
Yi Sensei I'm glad you think that, not many other people do.
this is diiiiiirty
so random lmao
