MY Sunday viewing complete now Tooney Is Here
Good lad!
Hi I’m 14 and you inspire me so much and still bashing out amazing cars even with your disability well done man keep it up
Thanks mate! Appreciate it
Hey lad no needs to be saying you can skip this bit, I think we're all impressed and humbled by the fact that no matter the job you never let the disability get in the way and its interesting to see how you overcome adversity......even being mates with the DJSE 🤣
Being mates with the Djse is enough 😂
I love the colour, reminds me of orange sorbet
Is inspiring to see another young guy around my age who has a passion for these sorts of cars I'm 19 and in new Zealand I have a mg midget a Austin 1300 mkIII a riley 1300 MKII it has a cooper engine and a riley elf mkII they were all just left out in the open unloved so I got them cheap and hope to get them done up seeing how nice your minis are really makes me want to crack on with the elf
Thanks mate! Glad to hear! Get cracking on with them!
Honestly mate your cars are good enough to be museum pieces.👍
Thanks mate!
Hi Alex, the adjustment for the seats in the Mk 3 was on the right & side. Used to own 2, a 1969, J reg & a 1971/72. K reg. the 69 car didn’t have the seat adjustment.
1 word...fantastic!
Well done Alex ,that looked like a mission ,and totally agree with the tightening of the seat bolts ,Keep up the good work
Don't want them seats moving about 😂
Nice job swapping the seats mate, all the while i was thinking boy i would get so frustrated , and patience isnt me!
I ust to get frustrated really easy mate, it's something I have learnt over the years is patience. Helped me massively
New to here and am in love with your collection and work. Nice to see the garage isn't a brothel like so many UK Car Tubers.
That space would make me smile everytime I walked in and would never get old. Great work Dude!
😂😂 That's made me chuckle, yeah some peoples work areas are absolutely jammed with rubbish. I can't work in a dirty environment as I am constantly tripping up over stuff!
Love the MkIII S Alex! I've known Simon (who wrote the Register article) a long time, he has top knowledge and is very helpful, (send him an E-mail!) I would say you should keep this car as a driver for now and enjoy it to the max! The car could very easily be brought back to 100% no problem, but, would you be as keen to really use it?..... Well done with those seats, it can be a pain trying to line up the brackets... What a collection you have, awesome!
I probably should email him actually and get both my cars registered properly under me. Thanks mate!
Food for thought.
By 1970 at least 60% of new UK cars sold had White and Yellow fluorescent aluminium number plates with black plastic letters! It was mainly the fleet buyers that didn't want to pay the extra 6 pence that still received the pressed black and silver aluminium registration plates!
Yeah that's right mate, I do have the original dealer plate with the car too
your detail is amazing alex👍.......time to get them out of the garage and on a drive🙏
Won't be long mate, my cooper S is going this month hopefully if I can get the wheel speed sensor sorted in time
Love that Cooper S colour 🔥
Thanks mate
Credit to you Alex, hard graft and excellent result. In the mid 1990s a colleague had an Austin 1300 countryman old H reg, similar colour to your 1970 Cooper.
Thanks mate, bronze yellow and Harvest gold I think were simler in shade
Thanks for the update. I would agree with you on the grille badges. Much better without them. Keep up the great work!
Thanks David
awesome job switching the seats over!!
Thanks Sty!
Excellent well done.
Thanks Jay
I noticed you have not got a water shield in engine bay ? Heavy rain will -play havoc with misfiring, ask me how I know 🚘
Tidy up the engine bay 🤣😂 we all know where that leads 🎨
Yep. That's why I ain't getting involved
Toon, I have just finished a marathon session watching all your videos! Your attention to detail is similar to that of Matt Morman from @obsessedGarage and your videos have a vibe of @WhiteDetails. Well done I am really enjoying your content and Love your cars (In fact I have just seen the Mayfair for sale and was very tempted) Keep it up mate Grand job👍🏻
Thanks Mate! Appreciate it! Will check those channels out!
Drive it and enjoy it!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤓
That’s the plan!
Amazing car ... 👍🏻.. be good to mount them badges on a wooden plaque to display in the mini at car shows
Definitely mate! Too good to throw awayb
Do like bronze yellow on that mk3 Cooper S.
In past I've used a dome nut on the outside nut on the seat bolts as they look nicer. ( working there are two nuts jammed together, so inside jammed to the dome nut )
Thanks Gavin, I will have a look into those!
I’ve got a green jag with a chrome alien head stuck on the back panel Alex is that to grandaddy 😳it probably is but I’m old so it’s expectable 🤣
Minis looking sweet dude grill looks so much better without all the crap all over it a good choice bud 👍
😂 I don’t know what it is about grille badges but they just remind me of old dudes
Hey Alex. I bet someone took the seats out and put them back wrong. They may or may not have realized that they were backward. I am like You. I would have to take them out and put them in the right way. I always look forward to Your videos. All of your Mini's are just fantastic! I wish I lived in the UK. We would tear up some country roads in Your Mini's!!
Thanks mate! Where abouts in the world are you?
Delaware, USA. The First State to Ratify the Constitution. Capital City is Dover. Our current President, Joe Biden is from Delaware. His Beach house is only 12 miles from where I live.
Nice! Have a few mates in the USA
Consider Me one more Mate! I marvel at how well you have adapted to your disability. You don't dwell on it, You find ways to make it work, and get things done. Love your channel. Always a highlight when I see a notification for a new video from You.
Always feel the same about grill badges.. Less is more in my book ... Surely your going to need a rev counter surprised being a tuned engine the last owner never installed one ... Agree just enjoy this one before you start thinking about pulling that engine out for a paint job ...
Yeah I am thinking of fitting one mate just for safety really
In the early 80's I had a rag cloth as a petrol cap for my Cooper. I upgraded it to a modern Halfords plastic push cap!
You have me thinking now, what is the correct cap for your Cooper S
I am pretty sure it's body colour non locking
@@classicminidetails8887 I lean more towards non locking and stainless steel! I'm saying that mainly because other BL cars such as the ADO16 and MGB had exactly that!
Back then the stainless cap was regarded higher spec than the painted steel one!
Another great video, can you tell me, are the number plates from Framptons?
I use classic plates online mate
Hi Alex. So what's the problem with the engine bay ? If it's the engine l have absolutely no problem with that sweet little piece of jewellery ! As for the seats , there's no real cure . I used to use a stay to prop them up ! Good to see you and l know work gets in the way but it is what it is ! I guess you meant by stainless steel cap the petrol cap . I think they always were painted . Take care and stay safe.
The engine should be black from factory but given its been tuned by swiftune I am leaving it as is. I have my mk1 that's more original so I want something different
The MK3 is a beaut tbh. Be gentle with the steam cleaner on the headliner. If the glue is old it might not react well to the heat and humidity.
Yeah definitely will take it easy mate, I always try the least aggressive method first then move up
Are these original seats? I can't remember the stock ones have so much lumbar support. But I'm out of the Mini game for a few years
I am not sure mate as they are on the bill of sale yet people tell me they are mk2 seats. But this car is an early mk3 with mk2 features. I will do some digging
It was great to see you at Beaulieu on Sunday 13th June.
We were the guys near the coffee truck, my kids said "it's the RUclips guy" and I asked of you'd brought any cars to Beaulieu..
You have some lovely cars..
Do you only buy from private sellers, or would you use a classic car sales company..
I really want something 1973 or earlier..
Stop press 31/10/2021
Since this comment I bought a totally stock 1972 mini 1,000 in green Mallard.
Ohh nice! You happy with it mate
@@classicminidetails8887 it's awesome. I had a black tulip 850 on a 1972 L plate, then an M 1973 orange mini 1275GT, then a Glacier white 1972 mini 1,000 on an L.
Always loved early 70's minis, and after about 30 years off (20 driving a BINI) I now have my '72 fix again!!
Sorry if this question has been asked before, but the registration mark is ULG.
So was this Cooper first registered in Chester can I ask ????.
LG is a typical Cheshire registration.
Yes mate it certainly was registered in Cheshire! That's where the first owner lived
@@classicminidetails8887 Yeah - I guessed as much !.
Can I make a guess who supplied the car when it was new then ?.
I am going for either :-
James Edwards Ltd or More & Gamon Ltd - both in Chester of course.
@@jeffcartwright7270 I will have a look on the Bill of sale and get back to you mate
@@jeffcartwright7270 wheatsheaf garage supplied the car mate
@@classicminidetails8887 Hi - Thanks for checking and getting back to me.
I know of the garage, but that does surprise me a little I have to say ?.
This because the two main agents in Chester at that time where the above two I mentioned above ?.
I was not aware that "Wheatsheaf Garage" where a B.L. dealer at all ?.
Does the bill of sale match the first date of registration of the Cooper or was the car sold by them at a later date ?.
Not that any of this is important really, it's just that I served my time at James Edwards and in my younger days was an absolute Classic Mini nut !.
I owned about six Classic Mini's of all ages, from a standard 1962 Mk1 push button start, to another Mk 1 that I upgraded to a 1340cc engine worked by "Holley Racing" and the last model I owned was a 1275 GT Clubman, which I downscaled to a totally rebuilt 998cc Cooper spec unit.
It was always my wish, to build a Classic Mini from a bare body shell, but getting married and children put pay to that little venture !.
I still have a original ( bare ) factory coloured OEM Mk 3 door assembly hanging on my garage wall !.
I bet not many people have one of them kicking around their garages.
It was removed from I brand new car I collected for a PDI check and somebody had creased the door skin.
The door was damaged door was replaced and I still have the original !.
It reminds me of good times spent working on Mini's.
Im very like your mini, can i know what book is it?
What you mean mate?
@@classicminidetails8887 i want to buy this book in your video
It's cooper world magazine mate
It's definitely better without those badges. Personally I wouldn't have swopped those seats they were probably done to even up the wear. Unlike you these things don't bother me, I get my pleasure from driving my cars. Not taking the van out in the rain! Minis are much more fun driving them on wet, slippery roads. However they're your cars and enjoy them as you see fit.
Definitely much cleaner!
Episode 2.... I took my engine out to paint it
I was just about to say, "Hey Mr OCD, fellow sufferer here and we both know that engine IS coming out" 🤣
Nope I am not doing it 😂
@@classicminidetails8887 .....ok I believe you.....for now 🤭
@@graemew7001 honestly when that engine comes out chances are the car will get restored. I was tempted to do it but I thought to myself I don't need to do something to prove a point to anyone. The van's engine bay proves what I can do so I am going to leave it as is and just give it a wash
@@classicminidetails8887 Hell no, you're right, if it was just to prove a point then as you say that point is well proven already. We all know how meticulous you are with your Minis so now's the time to enjoy your investments 👍🏻
I know it's a challenge but try not to get sidetracked by the 'not greatly improved' engine bay. Enjoy the car for a bit before falling down that rabbit hole.
Yeah I ain't doing it 😂 I don't need to prove a point my vans engine is the one that shows what I can do 😂
