It’s funny that you point out the tiny pad on the throttle pedal. Old BMC cars like the Mini and Austin 1100/1300 always had that. When you looked down into the foot well it would always be worn smooth and shiny from sliding against the sole of the driver’s shoe.
Yeah I have looked online and see the paint doesn't last long on them at all
Hi Alex, That chrome strip you were wondering about is sold by Mini Spares "lower dash rail chrome moulding strip" part no. 14A8009. Cheers, Midge
Thanks Midge appreciate that!
All the cars in your fleet have looked absolutely stunning - very envious !
Thanks mate!
I think we all have jobs on the mini's we try to put off....🤔......nice progress on the small jobs👍
Definitely! Always that one job we don't want to do
Your Mayfair is my favourite mini you have, love the originality and the granny spec.
It's a belter mate, going to get a video of it up soon
Cracking video Alex. The Cooper S looks mint mate. Your attention to detail is incredible, a great job with the subframe shrouds 👍
Thanks! It's been on my list to do for months because I didn't want to drill the sill 🤣 huge relief it's done now!
Who dislikes an Alex Toon video - scandalous!! Keep up the great work mate!!
Standard procedure that for youtube mate without fail. Its nice to know I upset someone everytime I upload 🤣
Can't wait for the WALK ROUND of the Mayfair
You still talking....
Thanks Alex . Not much done but it's always another step forward to your ultimate goal . I may be wrong (as l normally am !) but l think the lens screws had a small fibre washer between the lens and the body of the lamp to prevent the lens cracking . I do have a brand new "Mayfair " decal still in it's packing . Your's if you want it . I'm sorry if l gave you grief in the last video about the anti-chip ! Take care and stay safe.
Thanks John I will look if minispares have them. Not at all mate I appreciate your feedback!
I've bought that bottom trim from Somerford previously. It's a pain to get nice and neat at the bottom of the speedo because if you feel, there isn't a lot of space where it clips on.
Yeah it super tight in that area where the dash lifts up for the switches
Nice job that Mr.T it’s the finishing touches that make a car 👍
Definitely mate!
Nice job, impressed when you got the tap set out. 👍
Professional 😉🤭
Nice one Mr Toon, glad i'm not the only one obsessed with rust protection, i reshelled my mini with a new shell from minisport about 20 yrs ago, i fancied the earlier grill so had to remove the bonnet lip, drilled out the spotwelds to find rust in between, and that was a new shell! Cavity waxed the crap out of that shell, i even sprayed the area where handles are bolted to etc and rivnuts are good for mounting stuff to sills etc?
Yeah very common mate as even British motor heritage don't use weld through primer. The next video will be doing some rust protection on the car, I am currently half way through it
Some good tips as always. The strip along the dashboard on my 1981 Mini is battered too. Until you spoke about it, I thought it just lent a bit of character! I think it is more like polished aluminium rather than chrome. Replace or not to replace, that is NOW the question?
I will probably keep the old one and replace with new. I will be doing it in the near future mate so see what you think when mini is done. I will give my honest opinion too mate 👍
Thank goodness you finally removed that awful Pady Hopkerk throttle pedal, I never could see the point of them, never had any problems with the original throttle. The car looks immaculate, personally I prefer to drive mine, regardless of the weather, they are really fun to drive on wet or ice roads. That's what they were designed for, ie the Monty. However each to his own well done.
Looks much cleaner without it there now for sure
I ran the traveller without the subframe shrouds for years and finally fitted them last year during lockdown.
Would love a pair of recliners myself.
The recliners are soo comfy mate
Great to see you work on your mini I'm disabled to i do bodywork and paint work myself wondering where you got your chair from as it would be better than the one ive got mine is to big
Those shrouds are a fair bit different from the ones on my car. Mine don't have the extension on the underside. Yours are a later improved version obviously. And that's a good point you make about self tapping screws...they just keep enlarging their hole. I'll look at getting a captured nut in behind mine when I get to that point.
I didn't know there was 2 styles. My car is one of the last to have come with those subframe shrouds so hopefully I have fitted the correct ones
@@classicminidetails8887 That got me thinking, so I just went out to the garage to have a look. Mine in fact do have a similar shape to the ones you have, with a flange that extends down the sill.. Shows how memory can play tricks on us.
Absolutely awesome Mini. Your attention to detail is insane. Can't wait to see you drive it 👍
Thanks mate, hopefully april I will be behind the wheel
I always dip threads in mastic or at least waxoil
Looking excellent, you have an amazing eye for detail. Look at the Mayfair again will be interesting. Back in the day, I serviced my Aunties E reg wedgewood blue Mayfair and the her white P reg Mayfair, she had 7 minis in a row.
I will certainly do a video on the Mayfair mate, I had it out the garage today
@@classicminidetails8887 that will be great, I had my garage doors open all day, so my cars got a good air, as too busy lawn mowing
Those seats are the db’s 👍🇬🇧😊
They are fantastic mate, I absolutely love them
Look well them shrouds, much cleaner look 👍
Cooper S is looking great, defo checking those sweets out haha 👍
Thanks mate!
Thanks for the Video. Dont have the money to buy a Mini here in California. But thanks for your video i felt like having one already. Keep it up and stay safe!
Thanks mate!
is that old english white 8177,and black is 9000? 🤔 Will be happy to know your colours codes🙏
The white is WT3 old English white. I am not sure on the black mate
really look forward to your vlogs....keep it up my mate
Thanks mate
Mini sport are good for switches and dash rail parts
Thanks mate will have a look, I already have a switch just need to see about a trim
Love this car so clean
Thanks Darren
Just tried to support (you and) your brother but he won't ship to Thailand. Why not? It doesn't make any sense since I'd be paying for the shipping and the address on the package makes no difference to him, he still has to take it to the Post Office whether he's sending it to Burnage or Bangkok! Good luck to him anyway.
Interesting I will ask him mate, maybe thats something he can look I to!
PMSL at when you said "probably" escilate......there's no probably about it mate, you notice the tiniest of things. I reckon before long you'll have the front seats out to check why they're not so keen on returning 🤭
Yeah I need to look into the seats. They are coming out soon anyway
@@classicminidetails8887 Yeah they'll need to to get the headlining changed, wouldn't fancy that job with them in situ.
Hey what's that red mini doing here? I thought you sold it.
Not yet, I am considering selling it soon
Oh Classic Mini Details! You can't drive with a chair at fault.
What do you mean?
Alrite DMO calm down
Shut up Fam.
Where is the link to the sweets, and do they do sugar-free diabetic packs?
Pin comment mate, not sure if they do or not
