  • My first time solo sailing in fog In a trailer sailer. Sailing out of Southwold on the East coast of England, Southwold harbour exits into the North Sea. I was becalmed as the fog became heavy. Luckily it was planned but I learned a lot!

Thanks! I’ve just installed AIS which will help for my next North Sea crossing and offer some reassurance should I end up in fog for real! Excited to try it out. 😁⛵️

I’ve done some sailing in fog from Boulogne to Dunkerque in the 80’s no GPS or AIS could hear the ferries horns constantly hoping that the radar reflector was doing its job I’ve never been so scared in my life Never again I sail in the US Long Island south shore I miss sailing in France and England

No way! That’s proper scary. That must have been the most unnerving experience. It was bad enough for me when I went out on this day, but I am currently installing AIS and I have a decent plotter and DSc radio now too. So hopefully that will help me out when going into tanker territory. Sounds like you have some some nice sailing grounds!👌⛵️what boat do you sail?
