  • Join me for a very rusty shakedown sail on board Elise my Copland Harrier 20 Trailer sailor sailing boat. Had some tiller pilot issues and saw a weird Cetacean which is possibly a dolphin. Rare for these parts. Elise has just benefited from having her bottom epoxy coated and anti fouled so it was a great relief to be back afloat and prepping for the coming North Sea Crossing on May 22 2024. Make sure you don't miss that one!!!
As always thanks for watching my videos- I'd love to hear from you about what boat you have, where you sail or even if you are just looking to get into sailing.
    Thanks again- Ollie-Boated Out

Another great little video. Thanks for filming your first time out this season. For a 20-footer that is quite a monster of an engine but seeing how the tide runs in your location it must give you some comfort to have the additional "gee-gees" at hand. The coolant stream on the engine is a problem when it is not practical to flush with clean water every time it's used. Here in Brittany weed killer is banned so we use vinegar to control weeds & we buy it in 25l containers & therefore it's cheap. At the end of every season I flush the outboards with said vinegar to remove the salt crystals build-up in the system which works quite well. Looking forward to the May 22 trip but I expect not as much as you are!! Have a good season - Rej

Hey Rej, thanks for the comment, yes it’s quite a size and probably don’t need all 8 horses, however, it weighs the same as a smaller 4 stroke so I didn’t have any additional weight gain when I upgraded. And is nice to know I’m not thrashing the motor when I’m punching the strongest of currents here. I tend to do a vinegar flush each year- I remove the leg and the thermostat and power flush it with a 12v pump. Followed by a bicarbonate soda flush to neutralise the vinegar. Not sure if that actually works but better to be safe than sorry. I think with the Yamahas the tell tail hole is slightly smaller and tends to block super easy, haven’t bought my self to drill it out a bit as I’ve got bad track record when it comes to drill bits and boats!😂 that’s great they’ve band weed killer. Does vinegar work for weed control? I’m super excited about Belgium trip just praying for the weather! Hope you have a good season too Rej! 😁⛵️

Is that your berth? Seems a choice position. Like your yacht she seems to be a well balanced and responsive craft. Great video!

Thank you! Yes she’s a good boat, very nice to handle with 340kg lifting keel. She sails very well. It’s a nice place to be:) 😁⛵️
