Hey thanks so much for the kind words! I just love talking movies/tv and try to get better at these reviews every time I make one, glad to hear you got something out of it. Are you a massive One Piece fan, or just seeing if the Netflix version is worth your time?
Believe it or not, this first season roughly adapted the first 95 chapters: that's almost 10% of what's already been published (and most future seasons will probably adapt more than 100 chapters each, as the Live Action continues - assuming it does)
I thought they did a great job managing all of that source material and cramming it into these first eight episodes. That's such a daunting task, I'm shocked they were able to do it in a way that wasn't just an exposition dump. Super impressive. Thanks for watching, Jack!
To be fair, they cut most of Baratie's conflict that took up a ton of chapters. I don't mean that as a negative necessarily. The Don Kreig fight is one of my least favorite fights (though I liked the meaning behind the fights). I liked the character development in that arc but the fight itself was meh. So they saved a lot of time, but did so by cutting out a villain that wouldn't have resonated much with audiences anyways. Good cut.
Dope to see new people getting into the series like myself I started with the anime back in May and only took me 46 days to catch up with that in time for the Gear5 reveal and the live action series nd it's only going to get bigger as the series goes on in the manga/anime/live action
If you decide to watch the anime please watch 'one pace'. They really cheap out in the animation and filler/elongating scenes just to pad time and one pace really fixes a lot of issues there but editing it really well.
I started watching One Pace a couple of nights ago, and I am really digging it to far. Super cool the amount of work people have put into making the anime mirror the manga as closely as possible. Thanks for the info!
I think the original anime is excellent, at least for the first 300 (or 500) episodes or so, as long as you skip the filler episodes. No need to watch One Pace in my opinion! @incubiakster, have you even watched One Pace yourself?
I specifically search for a non-fan reaction 😅 I want to know what they think, because as a fan of the anime I was sobbing happy tears since Ep 1. I liked it so much & understand the nuances & stories very clearly.
Haha that is awesome that they did the anime justice to that degree in your eyes. I had so much fun with the live action series, currently diving into the anime as we speak. Thanks for watching!
I am a MASSIVE one piece fan like i both read and watch one piece and I've gotta say its the perfect adaption. I think disney has people confused on what a live action adaption is. An adaption should be a retaling of the story but it should ADAPT the story to the medium its being ADAPTED into and one piece does just that. Its not trying to be the anime and instead it is its own thing which standson its own, but at heart its still one piece and Conveys the messages and emotions that the author wanted 10/10 for me, Sadly the east blue saga is just the start and I really hope we get a season 2 because the Alabasta arc is where one piece geos from a simple adventure story a Grandiose epic like im not jokeing those 8 episode's where just a teaser for something much, much bigger and you can actuly start at they left off in the live action if you wanna know what happens next.
Glad that you absolutely loved this version as a big fan of the franchise! This one really took me by surprise, and I cannot wait to see more. Completely agree that they clearly adapted this well. Doing everything they do in the anime would not have worked, so it's cool that they made some changes but still kept its heart in the right place. Here's to hoping season 2 is greenlit before we know it!
Hey thanks so much for the kind words! I just love talking movies/tv and try to get better with every video I put out, glad you got something out of it. When you say "in-depth reviews" so you mean spoiler reviews? Also, are you a big One Piece fan? Thanks for watching!
@@SullyStreams sure I am a OP fan bro. I recommend reading the manga rather than watching the anime. The anime in later seasons experiences some really bad pacing due to it catching up with the source material which eventually stretches out an already long series. Obviously the Manga doesn't have these limitations and being able to establish your own pace (how fast you read, while episode time is fixed) while experience such a long-running series is nice. Overall I'd recommend reading the manga and then watching the relevant scene/episodes/clips of pivotal fights in the anime. There is also a colored version of the manga on the internet which is really well done that adds another great layer to the reading experience.
I've started watching One Pace, which cuts down on the filler and follows the manga more closely. Do you have any experience with that version? But who knows, maybe I should just read the manga. Thanks for watching!
@@SullyStreams I prefer the manga because it's fast, and I really love the experience of re-reading it to notice small details/hints that matter in the later chapters. But One Pace is also a great start to follow the anime without too much filler.
@@SullyStreams I don't have any experience with that but it definitely sounds like a good way to go about watching it. One problem with live-action-anime-remakes is the fact that there is HUGE disconnect between the anime's presentation of most of the characters as Caucasian white people in the anime and Japanese actors in the remakes.
