This just made me realize I need to clean my screen . Looking for Gonky's P-51 was mostly deciphering dirt spots . I guess a clean canopy really IS important .
I’ve got a brutal spot on my monitor that always looks like a fighter at about 10nm so annoying
Makes you wonder how scratched canopy’s effect pilots and to learn how they clean them but maybe it’s different in real life
@calneigbauer7542 In a lot of old video and photos from WW2 you'd often see the crew chief cleaning and polishing the canopy

At the Air Warrior convention back in the day they moved me from the WWI arena to the WW2, the admin moved me in with a DR1 and he flew a Spit. He made the mistake of trying to turn fight me... small guns - I still won ;)

This reminds me of and Amiga game that use to have a "what if" section where a Sopwith Camel could fight a Spit or a Harrier could go against the Red Baron... They warn the player at that time not to take anything for granted...
back in the day on the Amiga there was a Lan game where you could dogfight via 2 computers hard wired together. I think it was Jet fighter, not sure. But if you hit PAUSE your game froze but the other guys game didnt. So when I paused once to walk to my friends room across the hall and ask him a question he was flying around shooting at my stationary jet just hanging there in the air.
This was so entertaining to watch!! I love it got such a kick out of it! Please do more of these Mover and Gonky!!!

i think this a no contest but too different fighting styles well in flight i would too challenge these guy's also i need 2 who the best piolet like iceman said in top gun Maverick on in his own voice. also i am Swiss Canadian and i watched alot aviashine films and video games on the PlayStation.

A-1 Skyraiders got MiG kills in Vietnam, this was an amazingly balanced fight, I would've thought the strategy with the hornet would be to make high speed boom and zoom attacks but I don't know that much about BFM honestly.
In a merge a jet fighter (especially a 4th gen) can't get slow enough to get inside the P-51s turn rate. But the jet can just extend away, turn back and fire off a heater and its all over

question for both of you guys. are fighter pilots allowed to have music playing in the cockpit
I am not a fighter pilot by no means. Not even a pilot (wish I was on both counts but too old) and my theory is that the Mustang is shorter in over all length then the Hornet. Plus it's a prop driven plane, you have airflow over the wings and tail so that's got to play a factor in it's turn rate.
Gonky time to do some of that pilot shit, not crash lol. As mav said its not the plane its the pilot and for a hornet to put bullets in a 51 that can out turn and run circles around is cool. Good job mover

I’m confused. I thought Mover was supposed to take the fight to the vertical and not try to out turn/maneuver on horizontal?
It's incredibly difficult to take a fight vertical when you start a fight at 200-250knots in a Hornet.
Gonky truly is the better pilot.

Curious to me is how often they shoot late. I realize they don't want to waste ammo, but, personally, I like to shoot a little before and then as they pass through the reticle. Maybe they learned something in the real-life training that does not translate to DCS properly.
On the out side you think 5th gen vs 2nd obviously 5th will win easy. Nope. P51 can fly lower and turn faster. If they get close its all down to pilot skill. Best bet is for the 5th get to make some distance and hope he can get a missile lock on that small ass target..
If you put a Stealth coating on a p51 it would be a nightmare
All it took to make Gonky competitive against Mover in DCS was taking away all of his technology. That should have been predictable, the man is a steam gauge brain in a MFD world. Data is for nerds. Heads up display? Ha, real men wear their plane like a cape and use the force to figure out where the bad guys are.
