    I've been watching videos comparing the two forces (the Turks and the greeks) for a couple of days now. What's amazing is that in the comment section of those videos the most liked and commented comment always is the one that Greek expressing respect and love for the Turks or a Turk expressing love and respect for the greeks and trash-talking about the politicians of both countries.

      You know, Turks and Greeks and Kurds and Arabs lived for 1000 years together in and around Anatolia. And all this time sultans, emperors, marshal turned politicians, religious fundementalists and traitor high ranking officers who sold their country FUCKED THESE PEOPLE OVER AND OVER. Why you invade from Izmir to Ankara (650 fucking kilometers deep) if Sevre Treaty says that Greeks can defend Greek people in Ottoman Izmir? Why when English leaves Greek Cypriots can kill Turkish Cypriots just to clain the whole island for themselves to join Greece? Why now thousands of little islands given to Greece by Italy (as they were meant to be returned back to Turkey) gives Greece the authortiy to control whole eastern Mediterranean? Why Europe, France especialy (since England is not Europe now) backes Greece to do this shit like England backed Greece back then? Can you see a connection here? Turks conquered Greece in the 14th and 15th centuries. Greece is trying that in the 20th and 21st centuries. For the mere people, how can I hate my neighbour? I would die to defend them right? So again and again just for the will of Europe, Russia, US, Greece wants to fight with Turkey 3rd time in a row.

      Please keep your respect if you’re going to debate with someone you never saw and never will on the internet, because you can’t change someone’s deep political thoughts, especially when you don’t even know them. In the end we all used to live together, Turkey might have invaded Greece illegally, but what about the things the Greeks did to Turkish civilians? See, there’s no end to this, it’s war, what did you expect?

    Rules of Engagement. No side wants to be the one who starts the war. So they are following the engagement rules.

      While serving with the British Army, I spent about two and a half years stationed in Cyprus. During my time there, I was aware of SIX separate incidents of weapons fire across "The Green Line".
      "The Green Line" is how the British Army referred to the UN controlled border between Turkish Northern Cyprus and Greek Southern Cyprus. These incidents always caused tensions to spike and the threat level to be raised.
      Cyprus is a hotly contested issue between both Turkey and Greece, and both sides are more than willing to trade fire, even if it is against the rules of engagement.

      @@50caliberr After basic and trade training in the UK, I was posted to Germany (Gutersloh), Cyprus (Episkopi and Troodos) and then back to Germany (Bruggen). Never got to go to the Northern (Turkish controlled) side of Cyprus, as it is technically not recognized as a legitimate state and as a serving soldier, it was forbidden.
      As I was serving in the last years of the Cold War, Cyprus was always considered as a "holiday posting", in that you weren't on the lines against the Warsaw Pact. Yet in Germany there was always an understanding that because both sides had the power to wipe out all life on the planet many times over that there would never be an actual conflict, as the political leaders of both sides knew that any conflict between them wouldn't remain conventional for long. This meant that no matter how problematic things got, you always felt sure that a fight wouldn't happen. It was a common thought among those I served with, that these tension increases were actually done deliberately to justify/increase defense spending.
      The situation in Cyprus was always a precarious one. Each time there was an exchange of fire across the Green Line, there was a very real sense that this would result in a renewal of the conflict. Of the six incidents I was aware of, two resulted in casualties with one of those being fatal. The UN peace keepers along the Green Line had little chance of stopping either side if things degenerated in to all out war, and this would see the UK plunged into yet another war, due to the UK having two Sovereign Base Areas in the Greek controlled side, and they are technically UK sovereign territory. This feeling of impending conflict felt heightened as neither side had the fear of global extermination to worry about, as they were both in NATO, and NATO wouldn't use nukes on their own allies.

      @@davebeattie9573 I feel you in the same way. But current conflict seems only occur to regional sea battle or conflicts. I don't expect a war or something.. I think both sides wont got into a full scale combat. Both country economies are not suspend long orientated conflict. Nato should take a part in both sides to erase that anticipation in aegean sea. If it may be happens, greece and turkey must become partners in aegean waters to find natural hydro carbon based resources.

      Dave Beattie Correction: The south is The Republic of Cyprus which is the legitimate government of the island and internationally recognized, not “Greek Southern Cyprus”. There is no “Turkish Northern Cyprus”, but there is a puppet state in the northern Turkish occupied portion of the island which is recognized by no other country except the illegally occupying power, ie Turkey.

    I'd think "SIM" mode would be an extra layer of safety to prevent an international incident. When you're not engaged in hostilities with any other countries, and you see a handful of aircraft coming toward you, it's almost certainly going to be just a probe of your defenses or diplomatic-directed show of aggression with no intent to actually engage (e.g. what US and Russia do a lot). It's also why they never pulled the trigger, another layer of safety (but in case they did out of instinct, SIM mode would still prevent anything).

    • @AngeloBarovierSD

    • @thebgpikester
      @thebgpikester 4 года назад +8

      no, it's a training aid that allows you to use the weapons sensors, display fully and press pickle to ensure all the valid sequences for a valid weapon release are followed. Everything is training, even if it's a live intercept, it's training, so SIM seems absolutley valid, although, it does give away the mental state of the pilot and he doesnt seem stressed or under threat.

      as a turk with greek friends i 100% agree us turkish military has a rule that we can NEVER ever shoot greek aircraft unless they break this rule first
      same thing goes for greece we all dogfight on sim mode because we don't want to shoot each other we just want the other person to get out of there with no war starting
      greek people are nice ngl and politics kinda just separates us two people of two different countries and us dogfighting like this also trains both pilots of the countries aswell

      Things are much more complicated than that. First of all what you call a diplomatic show of aggression is not just a perception addressed to the military. Furthermore it has specific name and agenda. Such agenda finds a convenient audience to the hole population of countries with emerging economies that provided a lot of weaponry but fragile enough to keep enormous inflation. Countries with mass population, controlled media and regulated by tight laws of criticism. Countries with a twisted perception of their "vital space" and "interests throughout three continents". Countries with a proven history and present of disregard to international law. Countries with leadership and people with absolute belief in the law of the mightest embedded to their perception of solving differences. Countries with alliances with dictators and invaders, very recent ones. Countries that of course have very low standards of democracy, eternal leaders (or Sultans) making fortunes and palaces on the public treasury, with the highest percentage of imprisoned journalists, judges, officers, teachers and so on, than any other country in the world under charges of "insulting the President" or "anti-countrysname-ism". Which is this country needs no introduction. You just have to listen its President in the G20 summit in Indonesia declaring in front of the international Press that, "coming one night" ,meaning invading to the neighboring country, is his country official dogma or " 2 or 3 persons are not sitting tight" meaning the other country 's Prime minister and minister of Foreign Affairs, as if they are some kind of public clerks of the smallest province of his country, are not behaving the way he wants. This country's officials speaks of the other country 's people as "low life's bastards that need to take swim lessons" (sic: President Erdogan speaking of the Greek people in recent public speech), showing maps with half his neighbour territory as his own. It seems surreal but yes, such a President and surrounding political establishment is a neighbor to Europe.The daily overflights of Greek soil is just another piece of the puzzle in Turkey's hostility that finally aims to militarily invade (under her very own statements besides the true indications) and anex half of the Greek islands because "they are too close and roosters can be heard to us" ( actual claim of President Erdogan during public speech). There was a thought to slaughter the roosters in Greek islands but then we thought that warms would bother him also; apart from the difficulty of the task to extinct warms we find it improper to deprive mr. Erdogan of his perfect match in case he ever made it to our islands. Feel free to educate yourself on the extremities and daily provocations of Turkey 🦃 that led her under the scorn of Germany and US, her most solid allies till recently.

Typically this means the end of the interception of the Turkish fighters because of fuel. Happens regularly. In the images officially released by Turkey, the Turkish F16s seem to be "locking" a Greek F-16 in an air battle in an area very south of Kastellorizo. Although there are no features that determine the download time, it is nevertheless considered "authentic"."

      @@nissangtrnismo512 The turkish president mr Erdogan and his regime kicked off the TAF many(!) pilots and imprisoned many others both high rank officers and pilots, for supposedly being supporters of an imam named Gulen (Erdogan's ex-adviser and mentor), currently living in the US, who mr Erdogan holds responsible for the 2016 coup. Responsible or not, currently TAF is out of personel and came to an agreement with the Pakistanis to at least temporarily fill some of these needs.
      The aviator badge of the Pakistani pilots depict the flags of Pakistan and of Turkey as _"brothers in arms"._
      Besides the above, Turkey the last years is increasingly being blocked from purchasing both new military equipment and spare parts for its needs. In particular, the last many years, the US stopped providing spare parts and of course upgrades for the turkish F16s - for all military equipment whatsoever - which is TAF's only type of fighter aircraft. You understand what this means for an airforce? Τhe Pakistanis came to fill this gap as well.
      This is "what the hell" I'm talking about.
      It's close to impossible for a turkish pilot to find himself chasing a greek pilot, simply bcoz the turks invade the greek FIR and are being intercepted by the greeks with equal or higher number of aircrafts.
      It is also very difficult for a turk pilot to find himself chasing his greek collegue, as the former are new pilots whereas the latters according to NATO (during both NATO and US international excersises) the greek pilots rank at the highest places everytime. I mean, after all, this is what they do everyday, more than 100 times a day: they intercept turkish aircrafts.

    Hey Mover thanx again for taking the time to dive (a little bit) into the ongoing Greek - Turkish little cold war maneuvers. As I said in the previous HAF Mirage vs TUAF F-16 vid ,as an active duty HAF NCO that daily straps the pilot into the plane and launching him into the skies , I don't particularly give much attention to such snippets from HUD videos (in my 25 years of service I have seen enough AVTR to now which is legit or not) . Please bear in mind that at this time the countries are engaged in a protracted low intensity - long duration "conflict" and things are a bit more closer than ever into spiraling down into full fledged air-naval battle ... I don't know if those were Greek fighters under Turkish sights or not and in my opinion at this point it doesn't matter . In these situations it's a little bit like sports - sometimes you lose - can't win every time . But the claim that TUAF managed to prevent HAF F-16 from reaching Cyprus is false , as it is well documented via allied sources from their participation in scheduled maneuvers with French air & naval assets in the area ... You should expect more bragging videos like this from both sides in the following days-weeks-months... just my 2 cents

    Thank you for the video analysis Mover. The problems between Greece and Turkey and their disputes are well known. They usually do not fire on each other, as this would mean a clear declaration of war (there have been a couple of notable exceptions), although they try to get a lock on each other or outmaneuver each other sometimes in a dangerous manner that could lead to accidents due to human failure or stress on the jets themselves. It is a form of diplomacy. What you can see in this video edit is actually a fusion of not one but various HAF and THK dogfights that took place between Greek and Turkish fighter jets not over the Aegean but most probably over the Mediterranean (in the region east of Crete and west of Cyprus). Usually HAF Mirages and vipers intercept THK F-16s over the Aegean as the THK daily conducts overflights over the Greek Aegean islands. Specifically this compilation is from footage pertaining to dogfights that took place in a number of instances since 2017 over the Eastern Mediterranean when HAF jets were returning from Cyprus after they flew there in order to participate in the celebration of the Cypriot Independence day or in order to take part in bilateral military exercises with the Cypriot National Guard and/or the IAF. As Turkiye tries to prevent any flights of HAF planes flying to Cyprus due to their terittorial claims they would attempt to prevent the HAF jets from reaching Cyprus. That would be considered a THK success. They fail however on all counts as the HAF vipers always have managed thus far to reach Cyprus undetected. At some points during their flights to Cyprus HAF vipers have to fly at 500 ft or less to evade detection East of Crete or fly during specific times of day when Turkish radars are not switched on. This footage is most probably taken from some of these run-ins during the return flights of the HAF F-16s from Cyprus to Suda base.

    That "multicolor" thing is likely from whatever video recording system they use on their F-16 (looks like interlacing gone a bit nuts), or just good ol' chromatic aberration from the lenses. As high-tech as the F-16 is, I doubt they're putting in super achromatic rare-earth glass elements hand-ground by some German dude in the HUD camera.

This video is a little bit old, is from a Greek F16 and is a dogfight on Aegean ( greek airspace) and not at Cyprus airspace, the front fighter jet is the Turkish fighter jet, the Greek fighter jets went to Cyprus airspace more than 4 times and the Turkish Air Force never sow up because when they see the Greek f16 was already to late. The biggest point is greek and Turkish people we don’t have any problems.

    As for the SIM mode, I am pretty sure both sides have agreed to be on SIM mode for these dogfights. They usually get tense and you never know when a pilot loses his comfort and presses the trigger and then start a war out of nowhere. Everytime greek aircrafts intercept incoming jets they are in SIM mode. Almost every day for the past years dogfights take place over the angean. Unless our radars detect 20-40+ turkish jets coming at us at the same time, we will probably stay in SIM mode and just do the usual stuff.       4) Bu görüntüler Türklerin eğitim uçuşundan olduğunu ve bu yüzden SIM modda olduklarını söyleyenler var;
      Videoda her iki tarafta keskin manevralar yapmıyor, agresif değil gibiler, bu bir it dalaşından çok bir engelleme uçuşu gibi o yüzden de SIM de olabilirler diyor. Yine amaç direkt saldırmak olmadığından ve yine aslında iki tarafta aslında savaş başlatmak istemediğinden de SIM modda olabilirler diyor.
      Sonuç olarak ortada birleştirilmiş bir video var ama bu sahtedir yada değildir diyebileceğimiz bir kanıtımız yok.
      Yorumlardan da anladığımız Türk vs Yunan tarafı birbirlerini iyi tanıyorlar ve zaten hep SIM moda dırlar.Aksi durum gerçek bir çatışmaya vara bilir. SIM mode pilotun refleks olarak silahları ateşlemesini de önler.

    At the start, the Turkish Ministry of Defence claims that Greece's 6 Vipers were detected, intercepted and removed from the area. In reality, those 6 F-16s reached Cyprus undetected and proceeded to train with French Rafales. During their departure, the TuAF tried to intercept them, but the HAF had already sent a flight of their own to intercept those Turkish Vipers. With the amount of propaganda that comes out of Turkey every day, I wouldn't be surprised if this was fake.

      As you say "the area" is the NAVTEX area of Oruç Reis. The mission was to prevent Greeks entering it, not reaching to Cyprus. And the Greeks in the video looks obeying to Turkish push towards where they are going (probably to Cyprus). So they are not aggressive as you claim them counter-interceptors to be.

    • @jasonmonoc8489
      @jasonmonoc8489 4 года назад

      That is probably true for the Turkish side, but both sides' stories still don't match, as the Greeks claim that their jets reached Cyprus undisturbed. Also, if these are the 6 HAF Vipers, as Turkey claims, it would make sense for them not to maneuver too violently, as they were likely not loaded for an interception task, unlike the jets that the HAF sent to protect them.

    In future videos, it might be helpful to use some kind of mouse identifier (which should be built into Windows) when you are pointing specific things out, like air speed, altitude, etc, etc. Awesome video otherwise!

    In terms of general capabilities, from biggest to smallest thing, the biggest organization in the world measuring military prowess and professionalism, place the Greek Navy in 8th and the Greek Airforce 5th in the world. The Turkish are way below, embarrassing even to mention the position. Moreover, in international airshows, Greek pilots always excel. Turkish pilots only try to avoid embarrassing themselves. What I said here, it's not my words, my humble opinion. It's facts.
    In 1996, our NAVY came too close in conflict with the Turkish NAVY. Our Admirals couldn't believe how stupidly bad Turks were positioning their ships. The Greeks were waiting the "OK" by the Government. When eventually the permission did not come, they were pulling their hairs out. Turks would have no NAVY today.
    As it happened few decades before. One Ship of ours only, ruled the Aegean and Turks were requesting permission to enter in Aegean Sea. Back to 1996 again in another instance, our Ships located their Submarines. We wouldn't let them come out on the surface for air. After 3 days, we did let them. Turks went back and were jailed! Because they said "Greeks are too good in Sea Affairs, we can't do nothing to them", officially sighting "Dereliction of Duty" as the reason! Turkish officers themselves made the event known much later. Meanwhile, to this day, they still try to locate unsuccessfully our own Submarines.

Also what are you in about. Yes there were times when even the Greek piloted crashed but I'm sure that in the incident you are reffering it was the Turkish pilot who crashed. Anyway, wanna hear something funnier? One of your submarines a type 214 and it's captain surrendered recently too because a Greek helicopter was "bombing" them with high frequency sonar wavelengths making the captain think he was actually being bombed lmfao

    the pilot flies his plane...permission to shoot belongs to political authority...the pilot cannot "MASTER ARM ON" without permission...in your countries, is this kind of work done according to the pilot's opinion?...if the order is given, the pilot will shoot...it's that simple...but now "that order" has been given to all Turkish Armed Forces...now, there's no need for too much interpretation...with the smallest mistake the Greek side will make, you will understand whether this video is real or false...here, then you will see that the switch is in ARM, not SIM...I've read almost all the comments... you believed in ridiculous things...like fuel, altitude, or the color of the plane...how did you make a connection between the fuel level and the reality of the video?..TURAF's F-16s are close enough to the country to return to their bases, even if they are under 1,000 lb of fuel...also, it is clear in the video that even the clouds in the air appear red because of the sun...turaf aircraft note information about all Greek aircraft, such as aircraft type, weapons inventory and tail number...For example," 2 short, 2 Long, " says the pilot...what this means is that: he names it according to the range of the missile...short means short range (sidewinder), long means long range (AMRAAM)...he notes the weapons of Greek aircraft in type and quantity and reports them to the combat operations center...TURAF does not share such things...but in this case, there is a difference...our seriousness needs to be understood...the Greek side is playing with fire...let them not be stupid, Europe can no longer support them...

    Normally Turkey never releases this kind of footages. Most of the time its the Greek side that releases footages for their millitary propaganda purposes. Greeks did a provocation and Turks released the footage of their provocation. Turkey doesnt need fake millitary propaganda. They are to powerful for that and everybody knows that Turks are serious. Calling this fake is a childish act.

    The intercept described took place while the planes were returning to Greece from Cyprus. One wonders why the disinformation from the Turkish sources. Could it be because they are embarrassed that they did not detect the planes when they went to Cyprus?
