It's a toss up between this movie and the PS5 game on the best Guardians of the Galaxy storytelling. If you haven't played the game, Jesus Christ woman, you're missing out. Although Rocket didn't get a hug arc in the story, Drax and Quill had some great stuff, especially Drax who had an entire chapter devoted to him accepting the deaths of his family, hits you in those feels. But this is probably one of if not my favorite MCU movie, James Gunn manages to capture so much heart with these obscure not necessarily super hero characters where movies with big named heros like Superman and Batman, even the Avengers, couldn't really. I loved the Avengers movies but they never felt like a close knit family like the Guardians did. In fact that's what I liked about Thor Love and Thunder of all movies. For all the cringe and over use of jokes, Thor genuinely felt like hr was hanging out with his close friends rather than some co-workers, that's what the Avengers felt like, co-workers. I'm going to miss James Gunn in the MCU and this iteration of the Guardians, but all things come to an end. Can't wait to see what else he brings to the DCU. But seriously, play the Guardians of the Galaxy game on PS5, or PC

When Thanos snapped half the universe, Rocket and Nebula were the only Guardians left. So they were alone and friends for like 5-6-7 years. They got very close and that's why she said "He's family, too" and why she cried when he was ok.
The reason you can understand groot in the end is because James Gunn said that only his family can understand him. So by being able to understand him, you are considered part of the family.

Can we give it up for Chukwudi Iwuji and his stellar performance?? It's very easy to play a villain like his and for them to seem overly lofty/incompetent in because of how grand (and honestly unattainable) their goals are, but he's just the right level of delusional and I HATED HIS CHARACTER WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING. Top tier acting! Not shocking though, since upon further research I found out he's an AA with the Royal Shakespeare Company. I hope this role opens up many doors for him; would love to see him on my screen again! 😊
I love mantis’s speech about drax, he really is the only one that doesn’t hate himself
It honestly amazes me how this movie perfectly concludes the Guardian's story, giving every character a satisfying character arc and leaving room for new members to tell new stories about, without it ever feeling cluttered.
An absolute masterpiece, bravo James Gunn.
His Superman is no doubt going to be spectacular and so far the casting, description and track record Gunn has gained with his CBM projects have given me so much faith in what he'll do with Superman and the DC Universe
A side interview done by the writers said nearly every character had a death, but at the last minute James Gunn shot another take... and another take... and another. He couldnt bear to kill off his own beloved characters.
I once had an employer who acted just like the High Evolutionary. She had exact same kind of unhinged behavior, vindictive and hysterical nature.

I couldn't watch the tragic moments. I knew every time we saw Rocket's backstory, we would also see some form of animal cruelty, and I couldn't do it. I was constantly riding the remote control fast forward button. And on Disney + that ain't easy... so sensitive.

I find it funny how Rocket becomes the new captain of the Guardians after Thor called Rocket the captain in Infinity War.
Foreshadowing I’m sure Gunn already had it in the works along time ago for Rocket to become leader. Like Lyla said it’s always been his story so I’m sure Gunn had it planned for Rocket to become Captain since the beginning. ❤

I just watched the guardians of the Galaxy, volume three for the first time and it was awesome, but it was kind of sad at the end

A top- 5 or so marvel movie would be "Logan" as well. Guardians 3 kind that same rough gritty vibe . This is the direction marvel should go with the rest of their films.

The Guardians trilogy is a single story told over three movies, about growing up and finding your family, and that's why it hits so hard compared to everything else we're getting from the MCU. They had the time to build up the personal connections, and all the tugging of heartstrings is entirely earned, and it all exists to tell its own story. The rest of the MCU very obviously feels like a relentless churn to grind out 'content' to fill a release schedule and streaming service, it feels a lot more like that big graphic of the upcoming phase 5/6/7 release slate that they show off at conventions is the real product they're making, and the movies and shows that make it up are just box-ticking exercises by comparison. It's why it all feels rushed and they don't give these projects enough time to polish, it's why the focus on writing is falling away, and it's why for the most part there seems like much less heart to it all. Only the novelty of particular shows sets anything apart (Werewolf By Night's aesthetic for example, or the promise of a spycraft/espionage series that Secret Invasion's first episode promised and then promptly discarded).
Man Secret Invasion was SO disappointing. That's literally one of the best comics ever made and they screwed it up to no end.

Yes, I've seen Vol 1 and 2. But I watched those in theaters when they came out.

I loved it. It showed many things it showed concepts such as family including Concepts about saving all the animals of life because they are family as well and they are not food and so much more it was very well done and beautiful.

It´s ok, the world that they were on "Earth 2.0" Was erased...... But still sad, but not..... The only thing that bugs me about this movie..... Great movie by the way, but we forgot about the 6-7 billion creatures who helped them........... :O "OPEN THE FU**ING DOOR"!!!!!
