    Fun Fact for you: Dave Mustaine, who is the frontman and founder of Megadeth, whom you have already heard with Holy Wars, was in Metallica and actually was the one who wrote this song, minus the interlude in the middle. The original is called Mechanix, and it is in their debut album, which was just recently remastered and re-released. You should it check it out, it's faster than this version.

    • @facelessandnameless
      @facelessandnameless 6 лет назад +14

      xXAscendingPhoenixXx it’s faster...but the middle section (which to me is the best part), lyrics, and the slower pace of the four horsemen makes it better than The Mechanix to me...just my opinion.

    • @TMBTM
      @TMBTM 6 лет назад +6

      In fact Mustaine also wrote the part in the middle that is missing on the Mechanix. I heard an interview where he even says that he based that middle riff on Sweet Home Alabama... and it's true that it's almost exactly it! EDIT: he said it again in this interview: ruclips.net/video/5mdwxz8LRno/видео.html

    • @facelessandnameless
      @facelessandnameless 6 лет назад +1

      jedgreen I was talking about the riffs on the “Time has taken its toll on you” part. Plus the solo (which is Kirk’s) is the best part of the melodic part. Without that solo that Sweet Home Alabama part would have fucked the song haha

    • @TMBTM
      @TMBTM 6 лет назад

      Michael Delgado, all right, makes sens.

    • @RogerLaLoutre
      @RogerLaLoutre 5 лет назад

      Also fun fact : Mechanix is also (still wrote by Dave) on Metallica's demo "No Life 'til Leather", where James sings it. Slower than Megadeth's Mechanix, it's also (at least from what I feel hearing it) a bit faster than Metallica's Four Horsemen.
      Don't know for you, but I find it... funny.

    I was 11 when this came out. I happened to hear 'Whiplash' on my local college rock radio station and I was hooked. I immediately called the station and requested them to play it again. They were like nothing else I've ever heard at the time.
    I will ALWAYS have a huge respect for Metallica. They were pioneers. More talented musically than virtually everybody else on the scene, wrote better songs than virtually everybody else on the scene, and they just seemed COOLER than pretty much everybody else. No pretense, nothing fake about them.

You appreciate the time changes (from hard to smooth), the solos, and the arrangements of the songs. It's great to watch you react to these songs because your getting it! I truly appreciate every single one of your Metallica reaction videos. I'm in my mid 40s and to see today's younger generation getting exposed to the metal masterpieces of Metallica is so refreshing. The Kill 'Em All album was released in 1983 and still hard to believe it's been 35 years of an amazing roller-coaster ride. Metallica makes great studio albums but if you ever have the opportunity to see these men live, you will NOT be disappointed! This song was written by Dave Mustane from Megadeth. He wrote this when he was with Metallica, and after he was kicked out... released it on his first album as a song called Mechanix. He plays it even faster than this version. Dave helped to create a genre, and IMHO is a genius.

    • @footnotedrummer
      @footnotedrummer 6 лет назад

    I'm finding myself intriguingly watching your first reactions to playing a music you never heard before. It takes me back when I first heard a new genre of music like Metallica and how those reactions were both similar to yours and my friends who were also experiencing it for the 1st time. A great way to ease the time. Keep up the great listening and welcome to a awesome legendary genre of music.🤘🤘

    Preston man, thanks for opening up the mind! That's the way to be, I salute to you! Great reactions, keep it coming. I'm old school, saw Metallica in San Francisco and Oakland live in the '80's. I know you're getting tons of suggestions already, gonna throw some in there myself. In the meantime, enjoy!

    Listening to classic Metallica songs is like listening to a short symphony. Sooooo many movements and key changes and tempo switches. They carry you through a roller coaster emotional journey. It’s amazing they fit all that in as little as 4 to 8 minutes.

That being said, this is Metallica's first Album 18, 19 yr kids who were just starting to perfect their craft, two years have passed since being introduced to the music. Re-visit this album and you will see how they evolved since Justice..Puppets...etc...much love & respect...

    I've been a fan from the early 80's; I know this music like I know the back of my hand. Watching you with anticipation of the solos, vocals, and change ups is a trip! . . . 'cause I know when you're going to make a face, a "Hold On Bruah!", or a stop and rewind. it's cool seeing someone becoming hip to something I've enjoyed for 35+ years!

    Awesome vid Preston.
    Honestly, Kill 'Em All was the hardest album of Meatallica for me to get into. Except for The Four Horseman, Seek and Destroy etc.
    But over 30 years I now love the rough, raw pure aggression and passion of the music. They inspired me to start learning guitar. Keep up your guitar journey. Can't go wrong with learning Meatallica.
